- How to make a Record player (Gramophone) with a battery drill & coffee cup - DIY. So grab your old vinyl and lets get scratching.
From what I have heard it it actually seems to work better than the retro/ vintage phonograph kits you can get.

Imagine coming home at night and someone sits in your living room with this record player and candles
This should be upvotes! I was thinking the same thing lmao! I'd turn around and leave definetely. Don't even care if the kids and wife were in the house with the maniac.
It would be better if he was holding a machete and help written in blood behind him
And Satan crying in the corner
@@leonidastheodoropoulos5642 I was thinking LSD would be an extra bad idea
😄 bahaha, how did I miss this comment.
Any power outage that lasted long enough for me to make one of those would be a civilization-ending event.
Or don't move to center America. Huricanes had leaved us with out electricity for almost a year in some parts.
Fun looking project but if power was down that long id have other things id be doing first and knowing some people and their proximity to the power plants and how fast main lines get fixed. Common outage here = squirrel in transformer typically 2 or 3 hours huge ice storm well 2 to 3 on main after that they get ya going as they get to you up to 3 weeks later so in theory a guy with an all day outage thats on the main line of the nuke plant probably just got nuked
I used to live in South Africa and we once had a power outage that lasted 3 days
I had a power outage around a week long civilization is still going
@@jodifiori7930 yep as i was implying it depends how close you are to the plant and what priority level the company places your area in . Like the guy living less than a mile from the nuke plant would have better service. Simply put the only thing that shuts it down for more than a day is a plant problem still alot of people survived Chernobyl but yea you wouldn't worry about power at your house so much in that case as you'd leave and not return. Dams can be a bad event as well it doesn't end the world or country but sure can wipe out a town
BEAUTIFUL! A PINNACLE OF HUMAN EXISTENCE!
bahaha
10:30 I see what you did there
😂😂😂
LMFAO
LOL!
WhAt did he do
Funny how the overhead lights are on.
A man and his shed, anything can be made. On the bright side you can unplug the lamp at 12:00 to charge the record player battery when it runs flat.
Spoiler alert!
"You don't want friends looking at it thinking that is a sub par battery drill record player you've got there."
You could call this a Turnah table.
Or DrillTable.
Adam ondrejovsky are you seriously missing the joke?
@@TheHilarygrant .. Its not much of a joke , his name is Turnah , you wouldn't call it a Hilary table would you ?
This deserves more upvotes
Colin Booker this ain’t reddit
Lifelong collector here, and that had me laughing when you got it going! So few of those things play at all, and you had an LP tracking, NOT 78 or 45 with wider grooves. That's impressive AF, m'friend!!!!
Reminds me of early Pathé phonographs with the upside-down umbrella horn on top of the needle.
12:18 Powers back on eh?
bdpa kaknox exactly
That's a miracle :o
No its powered from his other drill
Exposeddddd
@@akkupackage he is talking about fnaf bro
By playing classical music with this, you can emulate the true wax cylinder sound.
Truly Infamous it sounds good, i quite like it
a big warning to those who attempt this with their favorite records
Art Dude that's what I was thinking as I know a lot about records and playing this on my record player would be way better
All that missing from the end of this video is a dead spouse and the cops coming in in slow motion. Voila instant cop drama/horror flick. Compelling stuff... Lol
We'd call it: "The Coffee Cup Cadavre"
Voila instant 'cup' drama?
Not even the RUclips copystrike bots will copystrike that xD but for what it is it sounds actually really good
They won't win
They might now, like they did to Matt Lowe, and mumbo jumbo
It sounds horrifying
"You might be concerned that we're destroying the vinyl, but you can relax. Because, you know, sometimes it's good to relax."
1:51 Drive By Coffe branded cup - Love the attantion to detail :)
Nice. My friend even missed that one.
😂😂😂
I also like that attention to grammar
Thanks for all the effort you put into making these projects. I have an anxiety disorder and your videos help me forget it for a short while.
At 12:15 you looked so happy that it worked when you were dancing along with the music
*Power goes off*
Me: Hey i will use the trick that guy used
*makes the contraption and tries to use the drill*
Me: oh no battery...
When you broke the bottom of that cup I lost it.Your reaction was great.3:18 best reaction on RUclips ever.
Now that's the sound quality I expect from a record, sounds even better then FLAC.
LMAO
hearing lossless
You should rename this video with "watch me scratch and torture vinyls for 10min
Edit: they are screaming in pain
Please tell me the "vinyls" was ironic right
They're called records and they're horribly warped classical compilations,it's fine.
@@scronch_ why?
@@CrafterVSWild because they're not called vinyls! People who call them that should be banned from the internet
@@nilswegner2881 well in France we call them like that so I assumed it was the same in English , as I know that this word is used in English too
I just had a nightmare...

Oh this is perfect for trying to make creepy horror sounding music
As someone who makes haunted houses this is wonderful. Thank you
I thought I was the only one who flipped the bird (gave the middle finger) to things when they don't work. This is so funny!
This is the most random and convenient thing but yet so cool
Wow! I'm so exited. I already have all the needed parts.
You sir are hilarious and informative
Thanks man👍
@@Turnah81 No, thank you sir. I didn't do anything except sit here and laugh. Keep up the awesome work.
Yeah, no, that doesn't sound horrifying at all.
That does seem very much doable with what I have in the garage at the moment. Hmm..
Haha... So romantic with the candles and that solid construction of a record player. Thumbs Up!
RUclips BE LIKE: Eyyy this dude don’t know how to make a record player out of office supplies
RUclips: add coffee record player to recommended at 02.00 in the morning
😂😂 Same exept its 3 in the morming for mee hahahaa
How things have changed. We used to build them in school from cardboard, paper cup, safety pins and dowels with a weight on a string to power it. The older 45s with deeper grooves worked better. Can you go the next step a make a record? We recorded on aluminum foil to demonstrate the principals of sound.
Principles.
That was really clever. I can't believe how good that works & I grew up with those antiquated things. The scratches, the deterioration & accidental drops or heavy jumping/dancing.
1:00 WiFi routers usually have a USB port on the back, you could charge a phone with that, it might not be the fastest thing but in case of an emergency it's good enough
M Isa If there is no power how can your router charge your phone?
@@dakotathomas52 if you watch the video you can see that he powered his router with a car battery
He must be thinking the USB port in the router would still get power from the phone line.
Telephone jacks have 5V positive and negative lines, cell phones charge at 5V, thus a telephone jack can be used to charge a phone. FWIW, I've never seen a power outage take out the phone system.
@@RadRidesByCru thelephones jack have 40 volts in their lines
Thanks Lancelot. Googled it... 48V DC line current... 5V DC off hook... 90V AC ringing.
Leave it to an Aussie to make something perfect for after the apocalypse.
All we need now is a thunderdome.
I hope people know this is fake lol
Sean Potter what is fake
Definitely needed some Beeth Oven though, it rocks.
Laughed very hard when he said it
I love every second of this
You're an absolute madman. I love it
Love your videos Craig, never fail to make me laugh
I can't get enough!
This is perfect!
This stuff is brilliant! Meet the most creative and resourceful Aussie 👍👍
Absolutely Brilliant
Dude you earned a thumbs up no doubt
Techmoan would be proud of you
If E.T. ever needs to phone home, this is the house to build that phone.
And that concludes my watching of all Turnah81 vids. Thanks and g-day.
hahaha. That is awesome ;-)
I have the bell turned on so whenever you get the next one I'll be ready. Love what you do man.
Still better than the RokBlok.
10/10 would back your Kickstarter.
Sounds horrifyingly cool 😎
OMG, I’m so glad to have found your channel. A year late but shared it with my daughter in Alaska who lives off the grid. Haha!
This is beautiful
The absolute best of Australian high fidelity audio
Hell yeah 👍
The part I hate about power outages is waiting for the RUclips videos to be delivered on VHS. It takes so long.
p.s. dangit... no power.... VHS player won't work. Dangit.
You sir...are an AWESOME RUclipsr. Bravo.
Ok this video just made me a subscriber...I legit went looking for this possibility. Never popped up as a suggested feed vid either lol
I'm on a binge of your videos, these are hilarious.
Hey thanks heaps for the support. Hopefully I'll be filling up my video catalogue way more in 2020. :-)
It sounds very post apocalyptic and creepy :3 ... I like it ! :D
That was pretty flipping amazing! Well done! 👍😂
Thats badass. Gives it that old fashion radio sound! Love it
Cheers . yeah different cups all had different results. it was interesting.
@@Turnah81 no wayyyyy!! Post video of those as well mate! Would love to watch those as well!! Cheers mate

Oh man it sounds so good 👌😭
Mate that was totally insane
Superb idea bro !!!
I like that DIY CD recorder player
I have to admit, that was great!
Cool. Had a good laugh. I have one of these old wind up record players and we used it during a power outage not long ago. Keep up the good stuff
This would be great for my next rave.
Wow. Amazing machine.
I love your stuff! wacky, zany, funny & informative! 🤪
Outstanding video LOL!
I just subscribed because i saw you throwing middle finger
Ah Yes, a true intellectual
Awesome video and idea!
You are hilarious, I wish I found you sooner. You earned yourself another subscriber!
Hey cheers mate!
That ending made my day
I love the scents of humor
11:56 That's how honey bees sounds.
Hahaha👍
We used to do this when we were kids with moms sowing needles, scotch tape, and a rolled up sheet of paper. One would manually spin some old ass records on a pencil and the other would try to hold the needle steady on the grooves.
This was awesome 😂
Thanks!!! I didnt know how record players worked till this
This presentation is stupid, informative, awesome and incredibly funny. I wish I could give more than one thumbs up.
You can flatten that record out with glass panes and an oven at about 112 degrees and on for about 2 to 3 minutes
country boy 1970 tried that once , didn’t turn out great to be honest , I find just putting lots of weight on them for a few months works ok
@@valley_robot ok yeah I've never tried it but I've been told it works by some pretty respectable folk though they did say you could overdo it
Thats a pretty good idea.
It's a masterpiece.
At least you played the beer song. That was nice. :)
Amazing stuff!!!
Glad you enjoyed it. cheers
Wow this has turnah better than I expected lul 😃
ducking sweet, deserves more views
i can see this being used in a horror film to make creepy music
people might think this is useless, but, this could up moral in the apocalypse
Love it, the music sounds post apocalyptic
12:49 The power of this scene .... bravo
Im amazed
This made me go out and buy one of those USB record players and a handfull of rechargable batterys. If I have to listen to records during a power outage, I am listening to Styx, Reo Speed Wagon and Rod Steward damn it! Record players used to be the best thing ever! I remember when Cassettes became the thing to have ( after 8 track tapes failed rather quickly. I had a friend that owned a portable 8 track plyer that sounded like your paper cup record player.
What a ball tearer. I haven't stopped laughing
Too awesome!
Craig you nutter!
I LOVE IT!
That's pretty impressive for a pin and a cup 😂
Still dont know why i fall for these things all the time 😂😂
holy shit, that's AMAZING!!!
mind blown.
I think your crazy, I love it.
Nice one on the principal of the Horn Gramophone but with a needle like that it might work better with an 78 RPM record
