A great quote I heared (from one of the sim racers on YT no less, can't remember who though to credit them)... "The world is not real, the cars are not real, its digital its not real... but the racing is every bit real" And that is true. I mean, racing is racing. The racing itself, is every bit real. From there on, how realistic a simracer gets immerses us more and more, with more peripherals to make this experience all the more exhilarating and fun. And honestly its racing culture without some of the tedious aspects of real racing culture (like mentioned in the video, costs, waiting times, and I would also add, the danger of being injured, killed, what not). Its an experience I can turn on and completely immerse myself in a race on a track on the other side of the world with others or alone in a car that costs 300k and then take a break to make coffee, and come back to do it again with another car on the other side of the globe. Its truly an amazing experience. I came back to sim racing after many years. Last time was 20 years ago almost, 2005. And 2024 I came back to see how much the genre has evolved. With wheels to completely immerse us, to VR, to so much more, to games looking astonishingly like the real thing, with tracks modelled with laser scans to real life accuracy, with physics that truly capture a very large portion of the actual thing.... Its not just a hobby. Its a passion.
It very much is a passion and I think the progress over the last 20 years is also because of passion. Someone out there wanting to make sim racing as realistic as possible - thanks a lot for your support✨
One aspect of sim racing I love...is racing against drivers from all over the world. The majority of the time, there are drivers from 15 to 20 different countries on the grid...with representation from several continents. It is simply amazing to be able to race door to door with people from the other side of the world.
Another aspect of sim racing I love...I don't have to spend full weekends hauling a trailer traveling to different tracks several hours away just to get a few hours of track time. Instead, I have more money saved and more time to spend with friends/family and other hobbies. To say a different way, I would not be willing to spend the money or time to race in real life because I don't think it is worth the sacrifice. With sim racing, I can still enjoy the racing as well as many other aspects of life.
Sim racing means everything, it's saved my life, it's kept me outta jail and prisons, away from drugs , before sim racing I was a heathem, I picked up Forza and its all i wanted to do, and thats lead me to iracing. Old friends are regulars in country and state, and I'm at home racing. I'm grateful for it. @soholmgaming
With the convergence of today’s tech, sim racing has allowed me to relive my 90s to early 2000s street racing/touge scene without the worry of getting my car impounded or dealing with hefty repair bills. On top of that, I get to drive those same cars I owned! What a fantastic time to be in 🤙. Great video.
I have noticed a trend on youtube that a lot of content creators focus on incidents and interactions where someone caused a crash. For people on the outside of the hobby, this may paint a picture that proper racing isn't the norm in sim-racing, and therefore isn't worth perceiving as a sport where the individual dedication is as high as it is for real life motorsport, or sports in general, so a love letter like this is like rain falling on a dry field to me. I know there are tons of content creators out there that create good content that shows what it really is and shows that a good racing experience is achievable for anyone that has the means to invest in the equipment required, but still I want to commend you for contributing to the hobby and sport with a video that counters this trend that focuses on controversy and conflict. Thank you.
Thank you very much for bringing this video. You managed to bring all the essence that moves us, that makes us vibrate by ""just by playing the game""...SimRacing is life! Simply...Thank you. :-)
I used to drive a lot of Gran Turismo as a kid but until last year i wasnt really doing anything anymore. Then i found James Baldwins and your channel and got myself iracing. Today i had my first imsa race and it was a blast, i love every little piece of progress I make and just in general how passionate everybody is in this community. THX for everything so far :)
This is an incredible little video and it sums it up so well... I think theres nothing better, than winning and failing in SimRacing - be it alone or with a team, a Grand Prix or an Endu race! We are all one big family, we are all motorsports fans and that is what connects us - We have petrol for blood and engines for hearts.
More and more simracers, more and more simulator manufacturers, and increasingly richer gaming experiences. Every community is very friendly. This is the reason we love sim racing, and we hope it continues to succeed more and more.
Love it! Saved it! Thank you! To addon to all this good quotes: Only in simracing and simflight "Games" you can get the immersive hardware > full cockpit for all peripherals even active pedals today, some build like replicas, shakers, VR, triples, ambient lighting even Motion Systems! Other games you play with controller or MKB...
I started simracing in 2005 ( live for speed, GTR game ) and I am now an older man with quite a decent setup. I still talk weekly with people I met in Live For Speed back in 2005-2007 and I consider them great friends. Simracing is more than just gaming! Its a hobby, escape from reality and the community is actually really good. Great video Markus, top notch :)
Hey that was an absolutely stunning video! Definitely gonna get you lots of subscribers I think(ofc I subbed!). Gave me goosebumps actually, when that happens you know it was done well, and captured every important part of sim racing!
This is one of the most beautiful and meaningful videos ever Also really good music in the background (for anyone wondering its: A moment apart - Odessa)
this was just the video I needed. just today i was talking to my girlfriend about getting a sim racing setup for the first time but the thing is, that is so expensive that i was talking with her if it was worth it. she told me to save the money and that maybe i will need it later on. you just made a video of 4 minutes explaining why i fcking love this and why i want it SO HARD. Genuily, thank you! ❤
Great video! One thing I would add is Simracing also gave me a better understanding of what real racing is. And what it requires. Now I enjoy watching real racing way more. Ps. Life is a game 😊
This actually really helped me, recently my irating just been going down and down and I'm getting more annoyed and unmotivated at Sim racing, but this video helped me to go back to when and why I started sim racing 😁
There's no game genre that overloads your senses quite like sim racing, at times when i race in vr as i battle the car to assert my dominance and the driver behind is closing the door while i am approaching the slow car ahead and all of that under rain, those feelings of euphoria is unmatched.
I just got my first entry wheel and pedals the same day I broke my finger. I can’t wait to heal up and really get into it. I’m definitely dreaming lmao
Very good video , unfortunately uncomplete because focused on the competitive side which only covers 20% of simracing but dont talk about, free roam, modding, mental health therapy, having fun, equipement, etc...which is the biggest part and maintain simracing alive until now.
Thanks a lot for watching and thanks for the support!❤ I hope you enjoyed this one and that it inspired you in one way or another!
Hey I'm on RUclips! 😁
Never seen before😂
Dave I’m subscribed and watched a few of ur videos
So nice of Markus helping out the little sim racing RUclipsrs 😆
I still remember being in the same lobby as you in rFactor 2
Oh hi Dave!
I just sensed the dusting off of thousands of sim rigs
🧹
Hearing your voice in that video is such a nice surprise
That’s why he’s the GOOOAAATTT, THE GOATTTTTT
No u
The cars aren't real, but the racing is
Yes it is!
and its beautiful .. as long its clean 💙
Wow Markus, that was beatiful! It's an honor to be in this piece of art 🙏 -Michel
Well thanks for joining in on it

Yeah that’s a huge benefit for me too, it’s a lot easier to actually drive in the sim
I'm sitting in my truck at 1225pm, and shed a tear of joy, great video.
Wow, glad I could make you feel that way

The best part: is that you don’t have to be GOOD at it, in order to enjoy racing; from ALL AGES 🤪 AND it’s in the SAFETY of your own home 🏠
Yeah and it allows everyone to join in on the fun
This is FANTASTIC
Thanks man 🙏
It's a miracle and must be a big part of making motorsports even bigger. If Max V loves it as much as real racing, that's all I need to hear.

Definitely relaxing. When you run out of gas in other gaming, a racing sim for a few days will get you back on track.

Great video! My favorite quote regarding sim racing that I will never forget: “The cars are not real… but the racing is“ - Jimmy Broadbent (I guess)
Great quote✨✌️

This cinematic story mixed with the music and definition on why we all love sim racing, just gives me chills. Very well done
Thanks a lot👌

Ps. Life is a game 😊
This is some @ocracing level of cinematography with quite a robust cast of racers featured. ❤🌟🔥
Had to sub immediately
Thanks, much appreciated🙏
The cars aren't real, but the racing is - Broadbent
Neat! Great vid and explainer. There is passion on the virtual track. Love to the community!
Yes and it’s super important to maintain the passion. Thanks for the support!
Nicely done! Love it!

My favorite video. It's all I think about sim racing. It's the perfect explanation of what it is!
Thank you that means so much✌️
I may not be good but, it’s my passion and it’s my escape and I love every moment of it. Thank you sim racing.
It can put your mind into another world, it’s amazing

Yeah I agree, nothing quite like getting in the zone and really having a great time racing👌
It’s just insane ! Thanks for that amazing video, I just want to jump in my sim now !
“You don’t have to wait for repairs….” iRacing entered the chat 😂
Seriously though, amazing vid - this is what it is all about
*54 minutes of repairs later*🙃
*wheel still at 45 degrees*
This should be the official sim racing trailer!!
What do we need to make it official?
Inspiring video ❤ makes me proud to be a sim racer 😊
Makes me happy to hear that😊

Ooof, 'cinematic' mate.
Dude I love that livery on the thumbnails 963. Does anyone happen to know what it’s called?
Livery of Apex Racing Team - this a sim racing team with highly skilled drivers and the team I race for :)
Someday in time , Iwould like to be at your level of simracing. Just to ask you how old you started driving in sim racing
I think I was 14-15… but I had no talent😅 I went to 800 iRacing but just kept on practicing and for the last couple it has paid off! (I’m 20 now)
