Put tariffs .... deficit increases, agriculture subsidies rise, agri exports fall, china exports diversify, de-dollarization gains traction. Who wins exactly? I don't know.

I tell you what will happen : The Chinese they will buy things from other place very little from USA and the Americans they will lose a valuable market which they won’t get it back even if they low the tariffs. This was a awake call for chiense to diversify and looking up to more other countries to make trade.... who lose ? USA of course !

China makes it impossible for us to ship goods there with extremely high tariffs already in place.
We can have all of the stuff they sell at Walmart made in Malaysia or Indonesia or the Philippines we do not need China - they cannot steal the technology they steal anywhere but the United States.
People who do not see that this country is gearing up for a future war for United States are very simple minded - and the billions of trade surpluses are what they are using the fund their army and their burgeoning navy- which wants to completely control the world shipping lanes through the South China Sea.
It’s hard to believe that all of the previous American presidents let this go on for so long - although the Clintons and Al Gore were caught directly taking illegal campaign contributions from them in exchange for this rape of America.

The negotiation with US is pointless. After the first agreement was signed, US just teared up it. That leaves no room for Chinese, but ignore US. The only quest from China would be that, Don't ring me anymore.

  • @Susanmong

Actually a elegant solution for the U.S. is to simply buy less from China instead of those onerous tariff which is actually a indirect tax on its own citizens. Buy less from China and more from elsewhere.

  • @Ultralord000
    @Ultralord000 6 лет назад

Tariffs on Chinese goods is a tax on the American people not the Chinese. Not sure why so many Americans would support paying extra taxes.
As China’s currency is devalued it doesn’t just offset the US tariffs but makes Chinese goods more attractive around the world. This will only speed up Chinas ability to diversify and become less reliant on the US as a market for their goods.
As for the trade chart. I would be curious to see the breakdown of how much of the trade deficit is actually goods sold by American corporations from China.
Regarding stealing IP I’m sure over the years ides have been “borrowed” by many countries including the US. Every country has their own patent system or ways of protecting ideas, they all have different rules. This is only a theory, but my guess is we are starting to see a more educated population in China. They are in major construction projects and starting a space program. This experience will only make them less reliant on others.

every man wanna be rich, every country wanna have trade surplus, but that doesn't mean you should use FORCE (or rob, tariff) to achieve it. If US could produce a few more great products such as Apple iphone, the trade deficit gap could easily be closed. Unfortunately its citizens have became spoilt brats, waiting for the government to feed them, brain juice no longer flows. They only know how to use short-cuts(but agitate everybody) to achieve their goals.

The USA has already lost, the agricultural sector will never recover the Chinese market. Any businessman knows that unreliable supply chain suppliers are best replaced and the Chinese firms are very happy to replace the American firms.. Between the BRI and internal domestic market the decrease in trade with America will just be a small ripple.

US Tariffs on Chinese goods will impact the supply chains established in China, and Asia, driving manufacturing investment to other countries, with no trade conflicts with the USA, either in Asia or in Latin America, where Mexico for example, has just negotiated a renewed trade agreement with the Trump administration, other countries in the region will also benefit as companies always seek greater returns and abhor trade tariffs impacting their product´s competitiveness.

    Set aside retaliation.
Just consider the effectiveness of the tariffs.
    Then add retaliation.
Chinese imports are too integrated into US manufacturing and Chinese consumption goods are too price inelastic for tariffs to be effective.
Then a govt can better facilitate alternate supplies for the limited types of agricultural commodities than for varied types of goods.
