  • Last year I ditched my planer and idea of processing rough cut lumber with the plan that I'd find a local S4S lumber provider or order lumber online. Well, I ordered lumber online from KJP Select Hardwoods and here's what I got!

I buy most of my lumber online. My main sources are wall lumber, bell forest and ebay of all places lol
I've been happy with all my online lumber purchases. I tend to stick to wall lumber these days as they're usually the cheapest, but bell forest has an amazing selection of exotics.

I buy virtually all my hardwood from KJP. I was excited to see your video, wondering what the verdict would be. Staff there are so incredibly friendly and supportive. They've been great since the first time I stepped foot in there.
I'll keep them accountable on your behalf if ever you need me to! 😂

Great to hear you’ve had such a great experience with them! I’ll be sure to check them out in person next time I’m in the Ottawa area.

KJP is near by and the people there have been great to work with. I’ve never had a bad experience with them.

It will be interesting to know if the lumber stays straight, because as you know the humidity between where it was milled and our shops will inevitably be different. Give us an update at a later time. Good video Cole.

Oh yeah. From their website/videos it’s possible it’s been milled for a little while and stocked to be shipped. With humid weather coming, I see it as about the same issue I’d have if I milled in January and used in July.
I’m wondering if I should cut it into a lot of edge banding strips now, knowing that 1/4” thick edge banding has a good amount of play when installing, even it warped slightly. Or do I should continue to cut off what I need knowing that the whole larger board could warp a bit.

I'd say cut while it's straight.

What was the shipping cost? I have found several places that sell s4s for a few dollars per foot but to ship a 8' 1x3 the shipping is over $100.

Shipping was $14.95 CAD for the two boards.
