other than the fact that this entire video is a dumpster fire, ignore me saying "omg wtf" in the middle of the video lol i obviously meant to edit that out but didn't! oops :)
Hey Grace read “ the zen of passing the bar exam “ really good book to Hep You out . Don’t be so hard on yourself . The bar is really hard to pass . Study and take it again and you will pass 💕
I’m so sorry! I know how you feel. I didn’t go to school for law, but I graduated nursing school in November and I took my boards (state exam) and I found out 2 days later that I failed and I was so devastated and felt so embarrassed and like an idiot because I worked so hard and did so good in school and I study so much especially for that test. What made it worse was seeing my friends from my class post on FB that they passed and it would make me cry all over again cause I felt it should have been me posting I passed; I’m happy for them but it sucks too. They make you wait 45 days before you can test again and it sucks having to wait, but I study a little bit at a time everyday and hopefully in January I will pass🙏🏻.I know you can pass it this next time girl!
@Polly Gato That's immediately who I thought of when I wrote my response! I had just started my freshman year of college 1.0 when that hit the news. Some of the news media was horrible about it, but lawyers everywhere came out of the woodwork to say that the NY Bar is extremely difficult and that most lawyers need to take it 2 and 3 times. That stuck with me.
I have a cousin who never studied much, we studied together but she gives most of her time to her phone than her studies after writing the bar exam last month she passed and i failed😢, i asked her how she did it, just found out she got help from Mrs Brenda
SO MUCH THIS!! I know brilliant people who are horrible test takers, can't write essays worth crap but can explain things so everyone understand them (because they do). My GRE had an essay that was tailor made for me. I got a 4.5, when it definitely was a 5 or 5.5 out of 6. I could have paid for them to individually review/rescore my exam, but it wasn't necessary. I got into my doctoral program. 1. You're taking it in such an unknown situation. What you have in your favor right now: 2. You're working in the field, and that will help make some of the information more relatable. 3. If you have to take it online again, you're studying where you will be taking it - which helps retrieval. 4. You don't have the distractors of job searching, moving, or a wedding competing for your attention. 5. You also have coworkers who are probably telling you that they didn't pass the first time AND probably extremely helpful in how to deal with taking the test a second time. We know you're amazing at what you do and the test isn't going to change that. Adding that you have the right idea. Focus your attention to the areas that you aren't comfortable with in this second round. I went through the Kaplan GRE book once, then decided that I needed a refresher on math, since it'd been over 20 years since I'd taken a math class. $200 well spent. All my energies went into studying math, and I'm shocked that I scored within 10 points of my writing score. (I write professionally as part of my job). Then in the last two weeks, take the multiple choice practice exams to refresh your memory on the other topics. It will be enough. If you want more coaching on studying, I build online courses for colleges, universities and now the federal government, happy to give you some pointers.
As a partner in a firm who hires attorneys, reviews work product, evaluates performance, etc. trust me, whether you pass first time or third, it has nothing to do with your capabilities as an attorney and no attorney who is worth their salt judges someone for not passing first time. You will pass. Treat it as learning experience and wear as a badge of honor. We are all human and stumble along the way. In fact, if anything, it will better prepare you for the inevitable numerous failures you will experience as an attorney.
@@nicki35able000 use adaptibar (since their questions are actually written by bar examiners) and then practice your essays, do research on the actual Bar exam, I firmly believe I passed because of the stuff I didnt do and not the stuff I did. By the time you take the Bar you should know your strengths and weaknesses. By now you also know how you study to get results. Do not change your entire routine just because a program says too. I personally bought outlines from a tutor, studied those and used adaptibar, and then practiced essays, I didnt waste time on video lectures or what the program said (because I knew what worked for me) and I certainly didn't study for 8 hours a day. I made sure to do something Bar related everyday, sometimes that was only an hour, other times 4-5 hours but again that was me. Barbri had great practice essays and books. Hope this helps 🍻
My husband and I took the CA bar in 2019 and I passed and he didn’t. We spent the entire summer studying together. You have to be brutally honest with yourself this second time around. Really reassess everything. Do not cut corners. Don’t waste time “learning.” You need to PRACTICE and that’s how you will be prepared. you need to do at least two MPTs a week. You have clearly put in the numbers and hours. This time it should be about quality and not quantity. Don’t burn out. this is rough advice but please at the end of the day be honest with yourself, reassess, and PRACTICE, practice, practice. Spend more time reviewing wrong questions and understanding why u missed it. My husband passed the second time and it was all fine. You will be ok.
hi Ari! thank you for sharing your experience! I'm currently studying for the CA bar. How many essays do you feel like you practiced for each subject? I've done about 6 essays / subject open book, hoping to do more closed book next. But not sure how many really is enough haha. Congrats to both you and your husband!
@@DeepaK-bz3ss I was a repeater and passed the October exam. I was a few points from passing under the previous score so I knew what it would take to pass for the newer, lower score. You want to transition to closed book essays. Try and find essays that have different issues. I had essay days and mbe essays. I tried to mimic the exam format as much as possible. So on essay days, I would study/memorize one hour in the morning. Then I would do 3 essays, closed book. Take a lunch break. Then I would compare my essays to bar website or a bar essay bank. You really need to compare them critically. See the differences in organization, rule statements, and most importantly the analysis section. After doing that, I would then get 2 essays, issue spot, organize and maybe include the rule statements to further test my memory. Then I would look at the essay analysis of each one of the issue spotted essays. That way I hit 5 essays which is the max I would do on the exam. On MBE days, I would similarly study for one hour reviewing material or memorizing. I tended to memorize both in the morning and evening before I finished for the day. But I said I mimicked the bar. I did 100 mbes, broke them down into 50 question sections like the bar. It sucked. Especially at the beginning when i was doing one subject at a time. Later when you were mixing up the subjects, it was much more tolerable. But you really need to build the stamina by doing MBEs, in California, it's 50% of your score. The higher the score the more wiggle room you have on the writing requirement which is so subjective. Once I finished the MBEs, I would grab lunch then I would go through each question, not just the ones you got wrong. And I would review each question to make sure I got the right issue, right rule and analysis. If I missed any of those, I would make a flashcard. I would make the flashcard as specific as possible. The mbes have very narrow issues. Analysis can have multiple parts so you need to do that efficiently. I ended up doing 2,500 MBEs, like i said it's half the exam. One a week or so, I would do a PT on the MBE day. There are videos on youtube on how to do an online PT that were extremely helpful. Check them out. I find that people really don't spend enough time on the PT. That plus the MBE is close to 63% of your entire score. So why not spend time understand how to excel on the MBE and PT. For essays, I did 5 essays per subject. Which doesn't sound like a lot, but I spent hours reviewing them. By the time you get to final review, you can issue spot more to get more exposure. But I find for essays, you really need spend more quality time with them. Really understand how to separate major, minor and nonissues.. Being able to lengthen your arguments for major issues is where you will get a ton of your points. For Memorizing- do what works best for you. But on the essays, look to see where issues will require longer rule statements. Sometimes they look like rule paragraphs. That's why I tended to memorize rules in rule blocks. Only apply what was needed, but if you had longer rules it was much easier to write better analysis since you will be discussing the various parts of your rule. In a week, I would do 3 essay days, 15 essays total. 3 MBE days, 300 mbes and 1 PT. I found PTs to be very doable, no memorizing rules, once you understand how to read the case and file quickly and how to organize them, they are actually quite fun. I know its weird but its the only part of the bar exam that actually feels like legal work. It was 6 days of studying with one day off. That day off was badly needed since you will be running on fumes and possibly burn out which I did the previous bar cycle. Hope this helps, I wanted to add this in case anyone is looking through this and wants a different type of schedule. Lastly, I didn't watch videos, they are a waste of time. But you must have some kind of substantive material that is a go to resource for clarification. Outlines are great but often times you will need a more in depth resource to help you understand. But the best way to learn to apply the law both and critically assess your work. If you can, see if you can get someone else to review your progress. That can help a lot. I wish everyone luck taking the bar exam, it's definitely doable. But its quality not quantity. Take time off to decompress so you can try and be fresh before the exam. You can do it!
@@efrennava9743 Wow! This is SO helpful thank you SO much! When you said you did 5 essays, did you do all of those closed book? I've done full 6 essays for ALL the subjects open book so far. I was going to shift to 2 essays/subject closed book next week and then spend the last week just doing some issue spotting on a few more essays. Is that a good plan? And when you spent 1-3 hours memorizing before an essay, did you look in advance of the essay to figure out which general issues to memorize before you tackled the essay? Or did you just memorize like all of civil procedure before an essay? Lastly, what score were you scoring at by the end for the MBEs before you took the test? I'm currently at 68-72%, hoping to get to 75% before the exam. I've been doing what you said in terms of reviewing the ones I do in depth etc. Hoping to do longer sets of 100 MBEs to build stamina. Really appreciate your advice kind stranger!
Grace, it takes so much courage and confidence to post thr truth about a failure online! many people would fib to their own friends and are unfortunately not honest and able to just be real with the fact that life has its ups and downs! 2020 has been beyond crazy, you had to cancel your big wedding, and you moved... sometimes things just don't go our way and I know its SO frustrating but you WILL get through this!
I cried with you because I know how hard that f*cking exam is and I know how hard you studied while dealing with all that 2020 brought! Do NOT be embarrassed! Like many of the comments stated there have been many many amazing attorneys that did not pass the first time. You are not alone, you are a phenomenal woman, you are an amazing ATTORNEY. Delayed but not denied. Sending so much love and strength your way Grace ❤️
It’s okay Grace, a lot of people fail the bar exam and pass the second time around. Thank you for being open and honest with us, I know it can be hard to showcase failure to thousands of people. We love you 💛 you’re still very smart
I finally passed my LSAT exam after all the stress.I thank God for the great opportunity and my tutor Thomas 🎊🎊🎉🎉 All my prayers to those struggling to pass through LSAT cause it hasn't been easy.I hope y'all make it some day too Amen🙏
I have a cousin who never studied much,we studied together but she gives most of her time to her phone than studies after writing the LSAT test last month she passed and I failed😣, I asked her how she did it, just found out she got her help from Mr Thomas ..
You worked SO f’ing hard for 6 months straight and you are immediately back on it trying for the next time. You have absolutely *nothing* to be embarrassed by. The hard work you have done never goes away.
I failed the bar exam in July of 19 after getting married that summer, moving and graduating after 2 years.. I really didn’t put that much effort into the first one and didn’t deserve to pass but had the same response you had to my first real life failure. I took it again in Feb 2020 and passed after studying for maybe a combined 40 hours. The second time is totally different and so much easier, your calmer because you know the process, know exactly what to study harder and I think you focus harder because you’ve felt failure. You’ll definitely pass next time!
I failed the bar exam too (July 2019 by 4 points) and I know there's nothing anyone can say to make it feel better right now. I felt like I studied my hardest and I couldn't stomach studying again. It feels like everyone but you passed. But, I took it again in Feb and raised my score by 30+ points. I didn't pressure myself, followed my own schedule focusing on where I needed to raise my score, and I basically ditched Barbri except for the study materials. I recommend reading "Fck The Bar" by Jessica Klein it made me feel a little better in the moment. I wouldn't start studying until the first of the year. You will pass, don't beat yourself up about it. Clearly it happens I promise you are not alone.
I can’t even imagine how tough the classes and studying and tests are. Just the fact that you did it at all is absolutely amazing. I’ve always admired your determination and intelligence and spirit. I know you know that failure doesn’t define who you are as a person. Take the time to feel what you’re feeling and then get right back into it. You have your entire following here cheering for you!!
I didn't pass my first time taking the bar exam and I did everything recommended. I didn't work, I attended the barbri course, in person, everyday for 8 hours and then studied more on my own. I was 8 points away from passing (at the time, I didn't know that you could appeal to get more points). The second time I worked and studied when I could, but overall I just changed my mindset and felt like I deserved to pass and that I'd actually be a good lawyer. It sounds cliche but when I watched videos about how to pass, from people who also didn't pass on their first try, that was the running theme. I wish you so much luck on your next try (at least you already have a job lol).
Preach! Except for appealing scores, doesn’t automatically mean they’ll award more! A girl in my class appealed hers after missing by 2 points, and they DEDUCTED MORE the second score.
My heart dropped at the title. I'm SO sorry, Grace! I've been proscratinating taking my real estate exam for MONTHS because I'm so scared of failing. You've got it next time! Wishing you the best ✨💗💗
Omg the fact that you starting preparing yourself to take the exam again, emailed Barbri to sign up again, and decided the date that you were going to start studying again ON THE SAME DAY you found out you didn’t pass is AMAZING. I would need like a week to recover emotionally lol. I cannot believe how resilient you are! Good luck with your bar journey again, you’re going to kill it.
Grace, thank you for documenting this. I can only imagine the immense heartache you are feeling. Graduating law school in a pandemic and taking the bar in a pandemic took so much fortitude and just to turn around and study again just shows your resiliency. Even though you are strong, I do not wish this on anyone and I am so sorry you are going through it. Thank you for the transparency in this video though, and as a viewer, I will be here to watch you pass!!
Hey Grace! I was a repeat bar exam taker this summer for the THIRD time! I graduated law school last spring, moved to a brand new state, took the UBE, and FAILED! Discouraged but not downtrodden, I signed up for it again to take this February. Feeling way more confident, I took the test and received the SAME EXACT SCORE! How demoralizing let me tell you. I knew if I didn’t keep trying, I was never gonna do it again so I signed up for it this July. Once the pandemic hit, I KNEW the world was against me and that failure was imminent. But I dug deep and found self-discipline I’ve LITERALLY never had before. Everyone told me that it was ok to have failed twice-but let me tell you it is OK to feel NOT ok. I felt like everything up until that point was a failure and waste of time. I used that to drive my success forward. I ended up also being told I could elect diploma privilege and be sworn in rather than taking the test about a month before hand. I seriously considered that option, but I had already spent so much time studying, I couldn’t let the principle of the thing go. Therefore, I went into the test knowing I had done all I could do to prepare (even with third time test taking jitters) and got it done. When I tell you, receiving the results and going up in my score 19 points, I almost DIED. I BALLED from relief. I know exactly what you felt in this video. I actually know it TWICE now. But I PROMISE you, you CAN do it. You WILL do it. And I’m excited to watch as you tackle such an intimidating beast. Practice your essays and MPT daily. That’s what saved me. One MPT a week worked WONDERS. And don’t listen to what ANYBODY does or says, you have to find the right method for you. I’m over here rooting you on from Washington State. You got this lady-FOCUS!!!!
I am so proud of you for being transparent and sharing this. I know that it is hard but you truly we’re faced with so many obstacles. Next time you will knock it out of the park.
My heart is breaking for you. I am a 3L right now and have been watching you since you were a 1L. I have no doubt that you are incredibly intelligent and will make a wonderful addition to the profession. You are capable and you are meant to be a lawyer. Do not doubt that.
You're so brave for sharing this vulnerable moment with us; so often influencers choose to only show the highlights of life. You will come back stronger from this. You've got this!
I feel like I just failed the bar while watching this, my heart hurts so badly for you and I’ve watched you go through the process. You are so smart and capable. And like many others have already pointed out - tons of successful people failed the bar the first time. ESPECIALLY the New York bar. You’re still amazing and you’ve got it the next time around! Hang in there.
I’m a 3L and you have been my law school hero through my entire journey. This just shows me why!!! Thank you for being real and for being you. I know this wasn’t easy but I’m here cheering you on. You got this!!! You are forever my hero! Keep going girl , you got 60k people rooting for you
This is such a strange year, I have friends at Harvard and Yale law who failed. This is definitely not indicative of your intelligence. My dad manages a very large law firm and told his clerks that if they didn’t pass DO NOT take the feb test, and take the July test. Never before have results come out so soon to the next test. Take your time. You got this!!
I agree, I would want to retake in July in better hopes of it not being online...but I can understand not wanting that weight all those months. Plus once your employed and maybe there is more of a time crunch.
@@Vibez-o5k If you take in Feb, are you going to wait until the next result cycle? If you do, it doesn't leave enough time to really study for July if need be. Go for July and write essay after essay until then.
Grace, I have followed you ever since I was accepted into law school in Spring of 2018. I am a 3L now--just one year behind you. You have been SO inspirational to me over the years. I was there "with you" when you got your first set of law school grades, when you made journal, interviewed for jobs, started new jobs, etc. I have always been so impressed with how organized and prepared and hard-working you are. And so grateful that you have shared your journey on your channel. I am SHOCKED that you didn't pass the bar exam. It makes no sense. I am so sorry that you have to take this on right now when you weren't expecting it. But I can guarantee that this journey for you will inspire SO many women and you will continue to be a role model for how to work hard for what you want, how to accept disappointment with grace, and how to move forward through disappointment. You can do it, and I know you will.
you took the test in the middle of a LITERAL PANDEMIC in a completely different way than the test is normally administered and you were still only 13 points off!!!! hold your head up high, you're gonna crush the february exam!
The first time I watched this video I was a 3L. I didn’t know that today I would come back to this video to help sum up my emotions and feeling after failing the July 21 NY Bar Exam by a few points also. Thank you for making this video because I’m going through this roller coaster that you went through and seeing that you passed the second time gives me hope.
I am literally crying along watching this. Many of us have followed you through your law school journey and have seen your dedication. My thoughts are with you and my fingers are crossed
I’m sorry Grace, I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I know it unfortunate but next time you’ll study how you understand the material and you’ll for sure pass !! I believe in you
Please don't beat yourself up over this! The bar exam is extremely difficult and the fact that you were so close to passing is huge. It doesn't help that you had to take the test during such confusing and uncertain times. You saw where you did great and where you can improve and you just gotta take it from there. Good luck in February! 💪💪
You took the bar in an impossible year, when the bar scheduling and even if there was going to be one period was so up in the air, and you had to take that whole damn thing ONLINE. Which I literally can't imagine doing. Please don't beat yourself up too much. Like you said, it's not an exam you're meant to study that long for, and esp not to take online. Staying focused and absorbing that much info, not going insane studying for 6 months for this sounds like a nightmare to me. You'll take it again, hopefully in a normal setting and you will CRUSH it! You're gonna be ok🤗 Also, proud of you for staying off social media, I think that's crucial during this. Also proud of you for being transparent, because there will be others who failed, feeling helpless, then you go online and how often do you see youtubers being so transparent about failing? Seeing your story will make a lot of people feel not as alone, both now and in future years.
Girl I’m literally crying with you I’ve been watching you for years and I’m so proud of you for getting to this point you’re so smart and amazing. Do not let this deter you once so ever. It’s really hard for people who put a lot of pressure on themselves when things happen like this but it’s OK because you’re going to come out knowing more the second time and that is an advantage to you. You’re a blessing to people don’t forget it.
When I found you three years ago you became a role model for me. You’ve now graduated law school the same year as I started my 1L semester: it felt surreal to me to come full circle that I’m beginning the path of my dreams while you were wrapping yours up and moving on to the next steps. I respect you so much because of your work ethic, self-integrity, seriousness and discipline, but also that you’ve always been so human and taken things in stride. Even if you feel the shock of your “first big failure”, this just doubles down how much of a role model you are to me. I just know you are going to pave an amazing path towards redemption: figuring out the study process and taking it again and making it work. I myself wrote the LSAT twice because I was crushed by the disaster of my first score. I felt like a failure that first time too. But we made it: you and I. I made it into law school and you made it to the end and have a job: we keep going! We process setbacks, learn, grow, become stronger. You are incredible and intelligent and you are going to show us how an amazing person faces failure and bounces back. We all respect and support you so much, Grace. Hope you feel better soon and find your drive again. 💕
Your feelings are VALID. A close friend of mine took it 3 times, one of the times only failing by a marginal amount like you. He went through hell all of last year. Quit his job during covid to study, couldnt pay rent, could barely afford anything. He wanted to quit after the second time, he was deeply depressed. A lot of your emotions in this video are reminiscent of that horrible time he went through. But he kept going. He just found out he finally passed yesterday in California. I've never seen him more relieved or happy. PLEASE KEEP GOING. You will pass eventually. The process is HELL, but don't let this score define you. I am an outsider looking in to the world of law, so I don't understand the pain you're going through. But my friend taught me to NEVER GIVE UP, and his success is proof of that. You got this.
Thank you for being so raw and honest. Last year was rough for my twin brother and I. We graduated at the same time and both failed our exams. (Bar exam for my brother and BCBA exam for me) it was rough but we moved on and tried again. We both passed our second time around!! Life has ups and downs. Be sad for a while- then continue kicking ass; you’re already this far! ❤️
Grace, thank you so much for being so REAL and transparent. You are such a role model to everyone who watches your videos. Watching your videos inspired me to take the LSAT and go to law school (I’ll be attending in fall 2021). This has been such a tough year with so many distractions, don’t be so hard on yourself. Life is full of setbacks, but a setback is a setup for a comeback. Trust that you are capable of tough things (you are, you graduated law school) and you will get it next time Grace. We are all rooting for you and love you. I know it doesn’t seem like it now, but in the grand scheme of things, this is just a small blip in your journey. Sending you all the comfort and love in the world❤️
This was weirdly motivating for me. My counselor says that I should have a healthier outlook on stuff like this and you are still killing it. You're going through a rough time but you still picked yourself up, scheduled review sessions, showed up to work, took care of your home, did skincare, and managed your social media. I wish you the best, and I really appreciate your honesty about all of this.
Hi Grace, I know you are going through a very hard time right now. I have been following you from the begging of your journey and you inspired me to apply and attend law school myself. I am a 3L now and have watched how dedicated you have been- it motivated me when I wanted to quit. I know you are feeling crappy and I cannot relate to taking the bar- so I won't even try to. What I can say is that I have watched as you have done EVERYTHING right. You worked your ass off during law school and dedicated so much time to studying for six months straight. Anyone that has been following along on your journey knows you did everything you possibly could. You gave it your all despite the global pandemic screwing things up and you are a total badass. I know it sucks now, but we believe in you and know you can do it! Hang in there. Allow yourself time to be upset, you have a right to be. Sending positive vibes your way!
Ive never taken the bar but I have had to retake every major test in my life. I've taken the SAT, ACT, GRE, & MCAT twice. There's literally a pandemic, these exams are already hard as it is. ❤️❤️❤️
Oh Grace. I cried with you. I've never cried from a RUclips video. It's okay to be absolutely gutted, you worked so hard. No need to apologise for it. I just wanted to say that you completed the bar exam during a world wide pandemic. One of the hardest tests ever. I know it doesn't help but that's an achievement in itself you had to deal with the uncertainty and the constant moving of the bar exam and all the other stresses of life. I've watched you since L1. We will all still be here encouraging you. Take some time to heal and then go get em!!! I believe in you.
I've watched you since you started your 1L year and have always been amazed by your work ethic and the care you have for school. I'm now a 3L and have been so inspired by your law school journey - but remember, it's just that, a JOURNEY. A journey with bumps along the road. Those bumps don't mean you're weak or incapable, rather they make you stronger and they're just part of the ride. Bring it home in Feb. - we all know you have it in you!!
thank you for being so open & honest with us Grace. I took my teacher exam and i’m pretty sure I failed too. I look up to you a lot and you normalizing this helps me a lot to remind myself i’m human and things happen. You’ll get it the second time. Keep your head up ❤️❤️
my dad didn't pass the first time and now he's had a 40 year career as one of the top lawyers in the country. There is no test on the planet that can measure you or your potential. I know there's always a lot riding on passing the bar but it's just a test and you can retake it, no matter how much it sucks, you've got multiple chances!
Don’t be mad at yourself!!! You KNOW you put in the work. It sucks to start all over again but I promise itll be a bit easier this time around with the knowledge you already possess. You got this 💖
This video will 100% help those who either are going through the same thing now or will in the future. Thanks for sharing Grace. Being vulnerable on camera cannot be easy! Wishing you all the best.
Thank you for posting this. I failed the October remote bar exam too and I have felt so alone. I failed by 3 points and am retaking in February. Sending you lots of love. We can do this. ❤️
Girl, the fact that you posted this and showed us a real obstacle in your path is not disappointing your viewers- we are here for you more than ever. Like this video shows your human, and the path to success involves losses, but girl we admire how real you are- love you girl more than ever xoxo from Florida
Please don't feel embarrassed! The Bar Exam was the hardest thing I had to go through in my life , so I can imagine how you might feel after studying for so long. But you are not alone and many people have failed it before, so I am sure you will go over this. This year has been so tough ... so taking the Bar exam during that time was even harder. Sending you lots of hugs and courage, and I am sure next time will be the good time ! Keep up Grace you got this
Hey girl, I also just failed the ny bar exam. I cried for hours and hours. My cousin and all my friends passed. I felt so much shame and still do. This was not a normal bar exam. You are not alone. In feb we will pass!
Girl! You got this! Do not back down!! All of us are here cheering you on! None of your studying and hard work was done in vain! Those hours are not lost!! Keep on going!
Grace! I have been watching you since your undergrad days...I am so sorry you didn't pass the first time round and I can only imagine how frustrated you feel after literally doing everything you could. You will get them next time and we will be throughout cheering you along! Failure is crap (coming from someone who hasn't failed much either) but it does make you stronger. YOU CAN DO THIS & WE LOVE YOU! xxxxx
You will take it again, you will pass and you’ll be just that more inspiring for it. You have a great opportunity to set such a great example of perseverance.
I know nothing but time can make you feel better but studying and showing up for such a big exam is already a victory in itself! When things don’t go my way I always remember this quote I read somewhere “A small set back for a great come back”. You will over come this!
I’m so sorry it happened, I can’t imagine what you’re going through. I know you will pass it because you are strong and you are very smart and you will get through it! Sending you love❤️
Grace, I wish you all the best on this second round of bar prep. I can imagine how difficult this must be for you. Be extra kinda to yourself as you start studying again. If you need to take a break from RUclips to focus on the bar, do it! We will all be here rooting for you!
This is the real....and I appreciate you being real in this vlog. It sucks....and I am sorry. This is helpful to people who are failing something...anything.....and I appreciate you showing some self-help stuff. When I fail, I always feel like I should just keep on going right away....be unaffected. Thank you for this. Sending positivity your way!
As a fellow October 2020 NY bar taker, the exam was a shit show. I know you will do great and will make an amazing attorney. This exam means nothing. Praying for you and your future success!
we sometimes have to go through the pits of hell to reach a little slice of heaven (extremely fucking cheesy i know) but do know that you continue to inspire other young women like myself. You got this Grace!
Thank you for making this video! I’m taking the bar in 2021, and I appreciate you being so open about your experiences with it. You’re going to kill it next time, and you’re already a great lawyer!
I am so sorry to hear this news, BUT... have hope! You're a smart person, and you can certainly pass if you study more before the next exam. I failed my 1st bar exam (CA), but then went on to pass VA and NC's bar exams on the first try after taking Barbri and PMBR classes. Wishing you the best of luck!
I just want you to know that I'm so so proud of you. Posting this online to thousands of online people takes courage and most people wouldn't ever do that. They'd lie and you didn't which makes me (as someone who has failed an important uni exam) feel not alone. I'm sending you loads of love and hopes for the next one. I know you'll do brilliant the next time!
You are VERY strong and courageous for uploading this video in your weakest moments. Most people only show their "good" side. Just take it one day at a time, one sentence, one idea, one chapter, one concept at a time. Obstacles builds character. You can do this.
Dear Grace, I wanted to write this comment to thank you for inspiring me to be in law, I'm taking a law clerk program. When I first got accepted into my program I searched a day in the life and your video was the first to pop up. You made me laugh when I wanted to cry, and kept me going so I could pass admissions for college. Seeing you this hurt and depressed is so heart wrenching because you are so kind and funny, you deserve all the most wonderful things to happen to you. I admire your strength in uploading a this video. And please don't be to hard on yourself you are very disciplined in your studies and have been a great motivation for a lot of people, including myself. Being so close to passing is the most frustrating feelings in the world. Grace you did your best. Please hang in there girl, and just know that we will always love you.
I'm so sorry, Grace! You are stronger than this and you're an inspiration to all your viewers. Thank you for being so transparent with all your subscribers!! We all love and support you endlessly.
You are such a real one for posting the ups and downs, you are a real role model, and you are not marked by this exam. You are still so smart, so nice, and so determined and you will do it again and be fine. Life is hard but the way you react to hurdles is what makes you, not the things that push you down. WE ARE HERE FOR YOU GRACE!!!!
Never feel embarrassed about this....law school is the most stressful, time-consuming, and life-changing time in your life, and taking the bar is mentally and emotionally challenging you are allowed to feel these emotions..... But remember you are amazing and smart and you will be okay ❤️
I am so sorry Grace. you are brave to post this. I know you will pass the second time. You have accomplished SO much this year. I know it is hard but please concentrate on the positives including your marriage, your extremely supportive & kind husband, your adorable Peach kitty, your Sister’s healthy baby, your move etc. Easy for me to say but please don’t let this bump in the road take away your smile and dampen your spirit. You will accomplish this too - it just will take an extra push.
It’s ok to fail, we all do at times as we are all human: we are not perfect. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Take a rest, relax yourself and then try again only when and if you’re ready too. Your mental health and well-being is very important
Grace, you got this girl! You’re going to be so much better the second time around and it’ll be a breeze. You made it through law school during a pandemic, and over the years you’ve helped me study through law school as well. YOU GOT THIS! Thank you for always being transparent and showing us all of the process.
You apologize and say “I’m sorry I’m being dramatic” and in that moment, I yelled at you for apologizing. You worked your ASS off for this. We have watched you, the proof is there. You are allowed to be as dramatic as you want. Sending thoughts your way. You will get through this, you are so strong and smart.
I really respect the fact that you were so open and honest about this. I don't think anyone can fully beat theirselves up for not being perfect in year, especially with all of the stress from covid and the way it's affected everything. I believe in you. Don't let this keep you down girl.
When you said that nothing else matters I was just like YES. F everything! I also didn’t pass the bar. I’m the only person in my hiring class at my job that didn’t pass and it’s one of the most isolating feelings. I stayed in bed for three days after I got my results and have somehow managed not to cry on camera at work but the pain eventually eases and subsides into rage and determination. I was motivated the first time but this time around I’m just really pissed so hopefully that will give me the fuel I need to pass. Take care of yourself and lean into the people that love and support you. Also remember that you’re not alone. You’re going to kill the February bar!
You are such a queen. Putting this out there had to be so hard. We all love you SO much and support you 1000%!!!! You're amazing and smart and badass, and you're going to kill it in February. You're going to be an amazing attorney ❤❤❤
Grace I am so, so sorry. I’ve been watching you since you’ve started law school and you’ve been such an inspiration to me. Don’t let this bring you down or let you ever doubt how intelligent or hardworking you are. You are absolutely going to pass next time, sending you so much love.
other than the fact that this entire video is a dumpster fire, ignore me saying "omg wtf" in the middle of the video lol i obviously meant to edit that out but didn't! oops :)
I didn’t even notice this 😂😂😂
Hi Grace, since you are not on Instagram right now, can I send you an email about this?
It's real and honest and kind of tame. I think I would have made a sailor blush in the same circumstances.
Hey Grace read “ the zen of passing the bar exam “ really good book to Hep
You out .
Michelle Obama didn’t pass the bar the first time. Don’t forget that ✊🏻
Came here to say this!!!
@@daisy-wt9pd hater coment.....
@Joel Reese I disagree but at least she’s known unlike you
@Polly Gato That's immediately who I thought of when I wrote my response! I had just started my freshman year of college 1.0 when that hit the news. Some of the news media was horrible about it, but lawyers everywhere came out of the woodwork to say that the NY Bar is extremely difficult and that most lawyers need to take it 2 and 3 times. That stuck with me.
@Joel Reese what a dumb comment. michelle obama also went to harvard law school...
My dad failed it the first time and just retired from being a judge for the past 35yrs
You fucking got this 💫💫
A judge? Oh my!
The Bar exam is very difficult to pass, I can't believe i failed after studying with so many materials😞
@ very correct
I have a cousin who never studied much, we studied together but she gives most of her time to her phone than her studies after writing the bar exam last month she passed and i failed😢, i asked her how she did it, just found out she got help from Mrs Brenda
Scammers now pretend to help you pass and the end up taking your hard earned money, Brenda is a sure help but very difficult to get her info
Standardized tests are NO indication of your intelligence!! You got this girl and we all love you SO Much!!
FACTS!!!!! 👏🏾
What you have in your favor right now:
YES to this!!
Came here to say the same thing! I know you're sad now, but just remember that you WILL triumph! We're all here for you.
I despise standardized tests
As a partner in a firm who hires attorneys, reviews work product, evaluates performance, etc. trust me, whether you pass first time or third, it has nothing to do with your capabilities as an attorney and no attorney who is worth their salt judges someone for not passing first time. You will pass. Treat it as learning experience and wear as a badge of honor. We are all human and stumble along the way. In fact, if anything, it will better prepare you for the inevitable numerous failures you will experience as an attorney.
Do you have any recommendations on prep courses? Ive come across quimbee. Any recommendations would be much appreciated
I needed this.
I so needed this comment today
Thank you. Just failed, needed to read this.
In your defense, there was a LOT going on this year. I’m so sorry, girl. You’ve got this next time.
I was going to say this!! There was SO much going on this year. Plus NY going back and forth with them doing the exam or not.
Good luck
Absolutely agree with you on everything!
All of this ^
hi Ari! thank you for sharing your experience!
Sometimes hard work doesn’t pay you have to back it up with smartness🤓, I think your cousin understood that perfectly
Please does anyone know who this Mr Thomas is? I really need to speak with him I’m frustrated

Can you please share what to study harder?)
@@t.j.7908 I just reviewed my score report and focused on my lowest point topics.
Agree with this! Mindset is HUGE in succeeding after failing the first time.
What program did you use! I’m taking in WA the 3rd time and I’d love any advice

Why not take it in Feb? And then if you don't pass, do July, too?

Girl stop apologizing. You don’t owe anyone an apology or explanation...much love for Texas!!!
I believe in you
I took the bar in NY too and didn’t pass . It’s the worst feeling ever.
We will pass it the second time and trust me with flying colours
how is studying going?
Did you pass?
Please don't beat yourself up over this! The bar exam is extremely difficult and the fact that you were so close to passing is huge. It doesn't help that you had to take the test during such confusing and uncertain times. You saw where you did great and where you can improve and you just gotta take it from there. Good luck in February! 💪💪
You're so brave to even tell everyone here about the result. Sending lots of hugs! XX
You're gonna be ok🤗
Also, proud of you for staying off social media, I think that's crucial during this.
Sending you all the comfort and love in the world❤️
No! I’m so sorry babe! It’s totally fine! You will definitely pass the next round! ❤️
I appreciate your transparency, vulnerability, and being so open with us! You will pass.
I’m so sorry Grace. I literally started crying with you. You are incredibly smart and talented and you will definitely pass in February!
Top lawyers in the country? Wow congrats!
Who else loves her vids?! 🥺💛
Keep up Grace you got this
The bravest most badass video- love you Grace!
Girl, I have watched you for years now and all I can say is that I’m so, so proud of you! You are such a strong and intelligent woman. You got this!
I started tearing up while watching this, it’s going to be okay you got this ! ❤️
I’m so proud of you for trying. Thank you for sharing your process 💜
Not to mention NY has one of the HARDEST bar exams. Thank you for sharing this you are helping more people than you know ❤️
we sometimes have to go through the pits of hell to reach a little slice of heaven (extremely fucking cheesy i know) but do know that you continue to inspire other young women like myself.
Give yourself a break dear ♡ Failures are great comeback stories. Sending you lots of love and light.
You are VERY strong and courageous for uploading this video in your weakest moments. Most people only show their "good" side. Just take it one day at a time, one sentence, one idea, one chapter, one concept at a time. Obstacles builds character. You can do this.
Dear Grace,
I wanted to write this comment to thank you for inspiring me to be in law, I'm taking a law clerk program.
We are in this together baby
You apologize and say “I’m sorry I’m being dramatic”
and in that moment, I yelled at you for apologizing. You worked your ASS off for this. We have watched you, the proof is there. You are allowed to be as dramatic as you want. Sending thoughts your way. You will get through this, you are so strong and smart.
Thank you for being so vulnerable. It seems like everyone online only makes videos about their successes, so this video was actually very encouraging.
Don’t give up! Next time you’re going to start not from a scratch but from experiences!
You're going to be an amazing attorney ❤❤❤
i swear i have a pit in my stomach i mean you studied so much ... im so so sorry for you
Grace I am so, so sorry. I’ve been watching you since you’ve started law school and you’ve been such an inspiration to me. Don’t let this bring you down or let you ever doubt how intelligent or hardworking you are. You are absolutely going to pass next time, sending you so much love.
