How was this match his to win?
3 1st round losses in a row and this one was his to win?
Please stop filling young man's head with nonsense

    • @gaspardieu558
      @gaspardieu558 2 года назад

@@dkrawk8309 It was his match to win because he was a set up and had 5 break point opportunities in the second set. Before a month of injury Felix was playing for an ATP point and is still returning to form. This match he was playing well but struggled with fitness and the heat which is easy to fix. Personally when I don't play frequently my level drops dramatically and that is likely the same at the professional level. Also matches are very different to training and take time to get used to. Even Djokovic after not being able to play competitive tennis earlier this year took time to find his form and get back to winning. This performance was encouraging and your negativity shows that you don't play competitive tennis or know much about it.

I'm from London too brother and let me tell you the first tennis match I played in Floridian heat almost killed me outright.
2nd set 2-2 and I told myself "I'm ready to walk up to my opponent and tell him you win, cuz I can't breathe anymore "
You played an amazing match. Your backhand down the line was superb, the idea to aggressively cut down the length of the point was immaculate. Battling the conditions is just ridiculously hard. Even the pros struggle with it. 2018 US Open Federer vs Millman. Rafa in Madrid. People in AO all the time.
I'm so proud of your bro.

Amazin battle, Felix. Keep your head up, man! You played great.
There are some positives to take from this match: Your backhand, for the most part, held really well against your opponents heavy spin, which is really hard to do on clay, you even got some on the rise.
You were able to defend very well with an open stance backhand and get some great passing shots when he came to the net.
You managed to dictate a lot with your forehand, as always.
You got into his service games, even though he had a strong serve and an insane kick second.
The match was played in conditions that you are not so used to (almost every match we play here in Brazil is hot and humid lol), so you should be pround.
    Keep it up, man!

Experience is also going to get burned in to allow you to make smart/crafty choices even when you are in the red zone. On this match we can see your tactical choices dwindle when heat and effort press too hard, but scheming is also a habit, once you have the right automatisms you'll get your palette working even in those conditions. And of course your defensive lob is on the training list now 🙂

Not the result we were looking for but it’s a moral victory in my book ! After injury there’s usually a mental block, always the worry of a recurrence…
So all in all, you’re heading in the right direction and will soon string a few victories together.
Take a look at the Jannik Sinner groundstrokes, he beat Alcaraz again last night, may help you further develop your topspin forehand and backhands !?

  • @tonyjenkins7733

Just keep going and you will get there eventually. I bet you were glad of your level of fitness after a 2 hour plus match in the heat. You just need a few matches and the wins will come. Good luck for your next tournament! 😀🎾

Tough match Felix, good try. Two comments. One, try to work in more drop shots, especially on clay and when you've pushed your opponent 6-8 feet behind the baseline. The disguise of the drop is the most important part, including when you're volleying. Two, also work on disguising your lobs. Yes your lobs were quite short, but they were easy to read. If the lob is the only option, then definitely get more height on it to force a difficult overhead and to buy more time to recover.
Keep up the hard work, we're all rooting for you.

In conditions like these, especially on a clay court, you’ll have to play more drop shots 🥺. Not only does it break the rhythm of your opponent, it also tires him and you’ll make him stand closer to the baseline.

In addition to higher lobs I think some more depth on the ground strokes in the second set could have helped. The shorter balls were allowing him to dictate a bit more and forced you to run and be defensive. Your progress is visible though and I am confident we will see better lobs soon enough.

What kind of drills can one do to get focused on being mentally tough starting off in matches? I feel I do the same, where I lose a break on my first service game then always feel like I have to come from behind to win sets.

It’s alright Felix, you’ve got this. That’s the thing about losing, at some point things have to turn around.

id love to see you hit higher over the net with more depth. low balls that are a bit short at the t-cross line are just no threat to play back. no matter how hard they are hit. good luck next time and hang in there!!

So unlucky, you battled very hard and I can’t wait to see your first ATP point! Just a quick one, what racket do you use? I’m don’t know what to use. Ive only ever used head and Wilson but don’t know what else to use.
