KD is absolutely NOT unfairly criticized. It's all fair, much like with every other superstar. Both on and off the court is in the line of fire. It comes with the territory. Behavior towards media is also criticized. He claims it's unfair because he dug himself a hole too deep. Had he not gotten snippy at golden state after two rings and then continued to be so, more than likely the criticism wouldn't be nearly as bad, but it still wouldn't be unfair.

It's simple. He took the easy way out. Let's not forget he had the ability to have a say in personnel in OKC and he decided not to be loyal and jump ship to the team that bounced him out of the playoffs the previous year. He was getting left behind in the conversations and as fragile as his mind is, did the most desperate thing he could think of and had an easy trip to the Finals for validation. That doesn't sit well with fans, he tried to copycat LeBron in order to increase his legacy but it did the exact opposite, it questioned his legacy, not to mention the train wreck that the Brooklyn Nets became when the franchise gave a player who's never been a leader and has no team building acumen all the power they could. That's why he's criticized. It's not questioning his ability, it's questioning is his superstar status legitimate or not. He's a great player but does he belong in the conversations of the greatest in the modern era..

KD is an all time great player, but he’s kinda stuck in the top 15ish range (14th or 15th) until he proves that he can win as the leader, when LeBron won his 2 chips in Miami, his legacy wasn’t cemented yet. He had to be the leader AND best player to cement his legacy and leapfrog other greats. Same with KD, if he did what LeBron did in Cleveland and LA, he may climb the all time great ladder significantly.
We know KD’s struggles without GSW, 2013 WCSF vs Memphis was a bad series and shot 36% from the field and 67% from the FT Line. 2016 was the 3-1 series chokejob against GSW, and then last year in 2022, KD was terrible against Boston and got swept?
