The Ultimate Van Build Journey:
In Season 1 of the van build, we stripped off the old DPD stickers, rust-proofed the entire van, painted it our favorite matte grey color, redesigned the cab, planned our van's design / layout, created our epic water tanks, built our custom panorama roof windows, installed new wheels, & installed an insulated floor! 🐾 Who are we?
We’re Ladi (from Czechia) & Margaret (from USA) and we love eBikes, campervans, & cats. In 2020 our van life lifestyle flipped upside down, & we needed to stop traveling in our camper to lockdown in eastern Czech Republic due to the pandemic. With no travel plans and some new time on our hands, we decided to sell our old van, start an electric bike business, begin a youtube channel, build our ultimate dream campervan, renovate a junkyard into a tiny house homestead, plan a container & apartment unit, and… well, some other smaller projects in-between 😅.
What we thought would only be 6 months of “stillness” has become 2 years of innovation, progress, and so much fun, and most of that is thanks to YOU. Although we’re excited to be back on the road and traveling the world again soon, we’re so thankful to lay a foundation here in Central Europe & bring you with us on this crazy journey. Thank you for supporting us and being part of this incredible community!

She’s staying in the village with Ladi’s family and her cat uncle Mattis. Flying with her is something we haven’t tried yet and during a time where travel is more complicated than ever it didn’t seem like something good for her. The village is so cat-centric that we know she’ll have a good & safe time in the meantime, but def gonna miss her!!! 😭

A seat base is a critical safety component, designed to handle specific longitudinal & lateral forces in case of an accident. A warning to your audience that a DIY base is not DOT / EU compliant would be thoughtful.
This said, love your passion, creativity and funny video montages (measuring the cat 🤣) !
I was thinking the same. I am 100% sure that Ladi's seat bases are even stronger than original, but if they discover the change at a vehicle certification/MOT etc it might be a problem...
Did something similar. Needed to go to a certified appraiser. Showed him the drawings, showed him the finished product ,bare naked’ in the vehicle.
80 for the consulting before I built it.
650 for the approval when done.

Might be different in 🇪🇺 or elsewhere.
This definitely wouldn't go thriugh in Germany. They don't even allow certified ones, when built into a car, they aren't certified for, even if the cars (certified and non certified) are identical in construction.
Yeh, I doubt this would be accepted in Australia either. That's the only reason I bought certified manufactured swivels for mine rather than just making them myself.

You have expanded Van Life into Workshop Life. This is a whole new deal. As Lady comments on the end of the video, it is so "uplifting" to watch an idea translate to a design and then transform into a well executed build and a quality end product. You are so wealthy to have this, "designer boutique" workshop, especially with all the space and scrap material arround it. You are only scratching the surface yet regarding the potential you are sitting on. I love to watch your videos.

The swivel mechanism for my ford transit custom seat weighs like 10kg easily so I'm pretty sure you are saving weight overall. Amazing van by the way. Looking forward to every video you guys post!

13:05 - Ladi is actually singing a song in Slovak language ("Nebude to ľahké" by singer-songwriter Richard Müller, the title translates to "It won't be easy"). The funny part is even though Czechs and Slovaks usually understand each other the languages are not that similar to each other and it is usually obvious when a Czech speaks Slovak and vice versa. And usually there are certain sounds in each language that the other doesn't have and are difficult to pronounce correctly ("ř" in Czech or "ľ " in Slovak). Ladi is actually singing the line "mňa sa nezbavíš, s tým sa lúč, nie, nie" with a "ň" sound and it's very obvious he's having a hard time with it :D
I just found you channel and love your creativity, and your videos series on what is good and not good design for van conversion. I find them very helpful. Like you I have a cat. Leelou, she is indoor big fat fluff cat. Love if you put together a video or series on things that are needed for cats to be happy, healthy, and safe will driving around and being outside. Love a in-depth tour your personal van cat designs and show any other cat ideas from other van designs you think work and what cat designs do not work. Maybe show how to actual build these designs. Also any tips to help her not be afraid. The only time she goes outside is to the vet or groomers not happy places/trips. Want to make this happy experience for all of us traveling.

I’m wondering if you had to go through any special offical procedures to swap the three seats for the two seats ?
My goal is to do the same thing but also to put two more seats in the back for the kids.
I’ll be happy to hear your thoughts on this.
Wish I had knowledge,tools to do this with since I just got a 1999 dodge 1500 van that would be really nice with this kind of set up even if it costed me an arm and leg.

Ladi, I think you need a Vertical milling machine or a machine centre. Slots and straight edges would never be an issue :) Some really great building going on as always guys!!!
I think I more need a milling cnc machine plus cnc laser cutter for ebike manufacture 😂

Have I ever mentioned Margaret, your color scheme of teal, orange, and gray - often combined with a black background, looks terrific and everywhere its used looks the better for it.

we're still deciding about the cab floor! But the height of the floor where our feet are when the seats swivel will be in line. We're doing the same as we did in the last van, but with a few upgrades

Love this new episode, you guys are very inspirational! One thing though, I'm surprised you work together with Omaze. I'm sure the money is good, but they're basically a betting company with very shady standards, covertly taking too much money.
Ladi is amazing! I’ve heard that some cats are bush dwellers (hide under beds, etc) and some are tree dwellers (like to climb high). Millie strikes me as a tree cat, No? She may appreciate a high ‘nest’ as opposed to a low one?
Yes! We’ll have a few more funny spots for her in the van, one we want above our bed and another above the cab! But the other ones will be free roam, this one will be nice to use at borders or when we stop for diesel or something 🤣

The new van is Ducato? if yes, is l3 or l4? and those seats, they are from Tranzit? i have also ducato, already with swivel but the seats are too high for me and super hard for my boom boom! after 3 hours is totally in pain 🤣. To build the base, the dimentions are very different or slightly? can they be modified on existing seats?
