My own head canon (no pun intended): The narrator is an idealist, and his own antagonist, not us. He fears thinking critically, and hates us for entertaining views we don’t believe. It shows his resistance to growth and development, his stagnant nature. He will not be swayed by any kind of discussion that contradicts his worldview. So I’m essence he’s a blue-haired blue checkmark.
