I find your site to be one of the best and most knowledgeable for running shoes. Straightforward, no gimmicks, just honest unbiased reviews. I just wished you were closer so I could visit your store. Thanks for your channel!
Had a problem with my right heel 5 months ago, started limping which is not good as i like to do 18000+ walking steps each day. Someone at work recommended Hoka, bought Gaviota 4 and the pain slowly went away. Now have Mach 5, Rincon 3 and 2 Clifton 9's, the latter being my favourite. Look wonderful, light, fit perfectly and nicely cushioned. Wonderful channel, one of the few I subscribe too.
Great review. I’m running in 3 pairs of the 9’s and have found my shoe. I came from the Bondi 8 and have really been pleased with these. 20-25 miles a week.
Thanks for the thorough review. I've been in Hokas for almost five years now, and am almost afraid to try any other brand. Currently on the Mach5, but find it less cushioned ride than the Cliftons. May need to pop into your store one day.
I love your reviews, I watch a ton and yours really come across as incredibly to the point and informative. Thanks for this! I really love the speedgoat 5 and the feel of it, the cushioning etc and I'm wondering if the Clifton 9 feels the same, just as a road shoe. Does the Clifton 9 feel similar to the speedgoat 5?
I returned mines today the right ridge where my right toe rests at is met with its sharp ridge every stride i took earlier today with a 4 miler. So i couldnt allow to spend $150 to tolerate a defect.
Great channel. Thanks for the videos. I just can’t get into Hoka simply because there’s this weird thing sticking out at the arch from all the models I have tried.
I reach for my Clifton 8 more than the More 3, Wavesky 4, and I'm selling my Invincible 1, Triumph 17, and Nimbus 24. Clifton 6 and 7 were about the same shoe. Version 8 is wider and a bit cushier.
My only question is will the cushioning hold up longer than 250 miles? That's all I was getting from the Clifton 8. I'm not paying $140 for a pair of shoes that only holds up for 4 weeks.
This channel is amazing! There's plenty on useful information about the shoes. I'm preparing for my first marathon and looking for the right Hoka. I currently have the Nike ZoomX Invincible 2, but have found that while they are very comfortable, are not stable. This seems to have lead to a heel injury this past November. I really like the design, features (and yes, the colors) of the Bondi X but, would this be the right one for a marathon?
Thanks for the support for the channel! The Bondi X is a perfect marathon shoe. It's very cushioned, has a carbon plate for high energy return, and is more stable than the Bondi 8. One of my running buddies recently bought a pair just for racing a marathon he's running soon.
I had to return my clifton 9 :( giving me knee pain and I feel super unstable in this show, I feel like its actually causing over pronation :( I wanted to love this shoe!
Thanks for watching! The Clifton is one of Hoka's neutral models. We recommend looking into the Arahi if you are having pronation issues. It is in the same cushion category and has added stability for someone who overpronates. The added stability makes the Arahi a little firmer, but the stiffer midsole gives the Arahi its support. The 2mm of extra stack height on the Clifton 9 makes it feel softer but less supportive than both the Arahi and the older Clifton 8.
I've been looking into the Clifton as an everyday walker because of the cushy midsole specifically because I have knee pain. Now I'm thinking maybe the marshmallowy feel may aid in knee pain and maybe I need a more responsive light cushion trainer with more of a bounce-back for everyday use. I've currently been using a pair of Allbirds Tree Runners for casual walking and they are super comfortable - only problem is that they're dangerously slippery and I've slipped and fallen more than a few times! I'm thoroughly confused on what to get.
@@alijafri2022 I struggled with knee pain for a while due to my weight being a bit higher than I would have liked - I've been running in the Gel Nimbus 25 - super plush and comfy! Knee pain could also be to pronation - may want to get fitted up at a running shoe store if you're unsure - some people only start pronating when fatigue sets in too - hope that sort of helps :)
@@danielclark8135 thanks for replying! My knee pain is a combination of misaligned knee joints, a possible torn meniscus, and possible rheumatoid arthritis - not to mention me being overweight. Yes, it's all happening. Because of this, running isn't really an option, just walking. But some people have suggested plushy shoes may feel nice at first but will aggravate knee pain in the long run (no pun intended), I should get firmer shoes. Other people say the exact opposite. That's where my confusion lies.
Does the Clifton 8 have a wide toe box? I’m deciding if I should wait for the 9 or try the 8, which is on sale. I don’t have a wide foot, but need a wide width to have extra space in toe box.
That would depend on what you are looking for in a shoe. If you have issues with your ankles, knees, and hips, I would suggest the Adrenaline GTS thanks to its high arch profile and built-in stability. If you want the softest ride for road running, then the Clifton 9 will be your best bet. It is cushier and squishier than the Adrenaline however it lacks the stability of the Adrenaline. If you want to do more off-road trail running, then the Olympus would be the shoe for you. It is comparable to the Clifton in cushioning while having added rugged features to accommodate the rougher terrain.
@@RunMoore the gts white part looks quite thick as in it should be soft? But also I saw a shoe called the sketchers max comfort and that is crazy thick you’d be walking on a cloud lool but then again I’m still not sure. I have gout and so I need a shoe that will basically put the least strain in terms of everything wether that’s how tight it fits and yeah just general strain. I basically need a shoe that will be best for ultimate support. Tbh Not even specialised for running I’m just looking for one that will give me less flare ups so whatever one would take more work off my ankles and whole foot
@@MyLifesDreamis2WorkWithWolves If you want the least strain on your ankles then the Adrenaline GTS 22 is our best recommendation of the three shoes you were looking into. If you want something with similar support to the Adrenaline from Hoka or Altra, we would suggest either the Arahi 6 or the Paradigm 6. Both of these shoes are going to be supportive and cushiony like the Adrenaline and will help take the strain off of your ankles.
@@RunMoore if I lived in same country I’d come in to buy. But I just got the brooks in blue and green the only thing I’m not sure I’ll like until I try it is the hard heel thing. Does it not feel weird since it’s hard
I have high arches and all of their shoes in their “neutral” category work for me…the Clifton is one of those. I’ve had the last 4 versions, at least. All great.
The Clifton 9 should only be $145, which is in the midweight cushion shoe price range of $140 to $150. Hoka does have a shoe priced at $175. That would be the Gaviota which has more cushion and more support than the Clifton.
Love the fit and feel of Hoka's, but dear god do they wear down fast. Outer sole materials are just terrible and not built to last on almost all of their models.

Agree. Solid foundations, one of the best explanations out there

I like the Clifton, but prefer the Arahi 6 for my pronation. Found that neutral shoes were not for me. Going to give the 9’s a shot
I just got a pair . Really helping with my foot pain
Great review. I’m running in 3 pairs of the 9’s and have found my shoe. I came from the Bondi 8 and have really been pleased with these. 20-25 miles a week.

Very helpful, thank you!

Best review I've seen so far! just ordered mine today. Hope it will fit better than Clifton8, which feels like something always dig into my arch.
Thanks for watching the video! We hope the new Clifton 9 works out better for you.
Like for Run Moore from 🇪🇸. Thanks for this information about the clifton 9. A nice weekend for everyone.🌞🏃🌤️
Thanks for watching the video!
"baby clifton" lol that's perfect!
Y'all found that the Clifton was wider than the Bondi? I work in a running store and the Clifton seemed way more narrow than most other Hoka shoes.
You come up with any conclusions? I was fixing to post the same question.
Bondi is always more firm than the Clifton.
Could you please do a video on how to clean Hoka shoes?
I will look into that with my video guy!
Great review! As usual! Btw, is it true that in the first half of this year, we are going to see a Speedgoat 6?
