Officials are unsure of the number of feral hogs roaming Missouri, but their damage is evident. However, new funding means more Missouri staff dedicated to help landowners.
I had a feral (wild) hog in my backyard of my home not far from Houston. I called the police, but a policeman showed up with a .38 revolver. I told him it was inadequate and offered to shoot it if he didn't file a charge against me for discharging a firearm. He agreed. I shot it with my 7mm Reington Magnum. Any deer rifle will do, but as always bullet placement is the key.
The hog problem was so bad in our area and after trying many methods to remedy this problem we ultimately had to post signs that read: NO HOGGS ALLOWED! I know that's extreme but it was the only thing that worked.
Let hunters shot them and either keep the meat or give it to the hungry. If you just shot them and not us the meat that is a waste. I would be glad to come hunt for them I like wild hog good eating
yet they outlawed hunting them on state land. hmmmmm. who is getting rich from setting up the big game canned hunts. WHY CAN'T WE HUNT HOGS ON STATE LAND?
This is a big mistake. There should be an open season declared on Feral Hogs. It should be painfully obvious, even to non-farmers such as myself that Feral Hogs are an ecological menace. Hunting them to extinction should be seriously considered. Trapping, shooting whatever.
So the hogs get to bred on State land?? Oh there's the problem!! There's no way to keep up. Pigs are almost as bas as rats!! They are considered swarm species!!
@@edwardmartinez199 in Arkansas you can hunt hogs on WMAs which are state land. There is something called public land hunting and it's very popular among hunters
My thoughts have always been private land owners should allow hunters free of charge to eradicate these things. But greedy landowners want to turn it into a business. They'll never decrease their numbers as long as they charge extravagant amounts for hunting them.
LOOK AS SOMEONE WITH MORE THAN 100 ACERS OF LAND I CAN KILL ANY ANMAL THAT IS DYSTROYING CROPS PERIOD. NO USELESS TRAPPING NESSARY! NO BRASS TOTING OFFICALS NESSARY! NO CONSERVATION AGENTS NEEDED.! AND ITS NOT THE GREEDY LAND OWNERS! ITS THE FUCKING OUT OF STATE CORPATE FARMERS THAT ARE MAKING ERRATACATION DIFFULT ! I AM SURE THEY WOULD BE GLAD FOR THE HELP!
Thank you for your comment. For those who want “free bacon” and think government is denying it, think again. The government’s role in Health and Human Safety trumps (pun intended) this kind of free bacon. On the other hand, get the State to organize sanctioned hunting parties, and have your fun! (But don’t eat that meat, unless you can test it to be free of disease.) Where not talk’n Berkshire hogs, here! RL
Best get a grip in them before they get into the major crop lands in Central MO and all the way up to MN to the north and all directions . Because most food products are made with some kind of corn or soybean products then prices will go up and the consumers will start bitching and not understand the wild hogs problems .
corn and soybean are gmo, monocultures. If so let the hogs destroy it. Those foods are not needed by healthy eating people and it'll force others to eat healthier foods.
Feral hogs will kill and eat fawns and baby goats, and the eggs and young of ground-nesting birds like Turkey and Quail- I wouldn't be surprised if they killed a cow giving birth, under the right circumstances....
@@eddieorf Sure I do. I'm an old pig farmer from the upper midwest. If I have to I can wrastle them to the ground and slit their throat. A pigs a pig, been around them all my life, and I do mean all. Good work!
Hogs don't sweat it
It's time to remove any hunting restrictions on them and wipe them out.
The Noble Foundation in Ardmore Oklahoma is a great resource for feral hog information and they developed the Boar Buster trap system.
Lots of talk. No real effective remedies or success data.

Try putting signs up stating 'Hogs will be carted away by truck' with a picture.
Shoot, make pork chops, repeat.
If i see a hog while hunting in shooting it I don't want land I hunt on ruined by wild hogs and chase away all my deer and turkey
????WHAT????
Good source for pet food
Dead pets.
For real!!!!
Go to Texas. All the free pork you can eat. They've got some great solutions.
Heli-Hoggin'!!!!
They are a big problem here in Australia too. Good luck!
They got funding when it became a real problem to late i think.

I think they keep deer away. is has no feral hogs and that keeps deer from being killed by hogs.

Yes there edible and have mostly the same meat as domesticated pigs all animals with meat you can eat mostly at least
Breaking the law bating wildlife
Hey there folks quick question do you ever have a call for work around Idaho Utah or Oregon?
This is the first I've heard of Hogs being in Missouri. Seems like their range is increasing. I often wonder if they'll make it to Michigan ?
Not if we start a massive Hog Hunt as a yearly thing, to help reduce their populations, if not eliminate them entirely.
@@MasterOfCydonia Yeah, something needs to be done.
Got them in Canada!
Fifty below zero Canada, and they are surviving

not likely for them to make it that far north

What people dont understand is the meat on a wild hog taste just as good or better than a tame hog. Its all pork

So this is what Missourians look like, four leg. My mother told me not to marry a Missouri girl. Thank God I listen to my mother.
