I don't think that it is fair to say that it is bad that the dwarves had to keep getting saved. I'm mean, think back through their whole crazy journey. If they got through that with needing the help of other characters I would be rolling my eyes and saying, "Come on." Also, jumping in and aiding the main characters when they are in jeopardy is the best way to introduce new characters in films and books because we are already endeared to the main character so anyone who comes along and aids them is going to to get our immediate approval (well most of the time anyway). But I do agree with you about the role reversal. I'm glad to know I not the only one who appreciated that the woman was the one to save the man for a change. I've seen that done before in movies but it always seemed forced, like they were putting it in there just to satisfy a post feminist audience. This time I felt like it was fairly realistic given their positions and training. Although, I also love that Kili is a strong character too. The satisfaction would be taken away if the female character was saving a weakling who couldn't take care of himself but Kili is a warrior (proven himself to be one) who just happened to need a helping hand on those occasions. Like practically all warriors. Anyway thanks for uploading this vid. Can't wait to see what happens with these two in the nest movie. Ten months to go.
