Jeff has to be the undisputable grand Master of this kind of song. And he had that talent from early on. Try listening to the songs he created while with the Idle Race, like _Please No More Sad Songs_ or _The Lady Who Said She Could Fly_ - just to memtion two of many great songs - and please let me know what your reaction to them was in a comment here.
Jeff Lynne is such a great singer, musician and producer❤❤❤Jeff Lynne is himself, one of the best singers, songwriters, multi-instrumentalists, producers ever and a super kind-humble man who stays away from the drama
I am so happy Jeff Lynne is finally receiving some recognition as the musical genius he is. You know you're pretty good when George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and Tom Petty play back-up on your songs.
Jeff Lynne. Legend. What else to say about this man ? A true pop master who keeps on going and pretty much delivers constantly whatever he does ever since the 1960s.
Jeff. My hero since I was 12. Blew the Beatles away. You are, the greatest singer, songwriter and musician who has ever lived. Deuce was a great film. Your music will be forever. Thank you for all my happy days😁😁
I'm 65 years old now ELO was always and ever shall be my group the years I was in love the most with a girl next door.I hear this music and makes my heart sad and happy but that's how Jeff's music is.
Interesting. Jeff is a nice drummer indeed but according to the record notes this song is played by Mette Mathiesen on drums. Richard Tandy on acoustic and some other guys.
I’m only 27 but I’ve loved ELO since I was 12 years old.. I just found this song and it’s motivated me and has given me a profound revelation. Love the humanity in this song ❤️ long love happiness
I think it's safe to assume that for all of my fellow passionately devoted fans of the brilliant, true musical genius that is Jeff Lynne, who do NOT happen to know who played that terrific slide guitar solo at the end portion of this track, that you'll be pleased, if not especially surprised to learn it was a very dear friend of Jeff's, by the name of George Harrison. If you ask ME, even just 2/5ths of the Traveling Wilburys sounds pretty damn fine to MY ears, how bout yours?
@@laincorepilled I can't find that in the record notes but he sure was on this album for Blown Away. i think after this they started into the great wide open and they were sky high in the charts
Desde chile un artista inmortal nos ha deleitado con su musica de generación tras generación cuanto tiempo mas tendremos que esperar para que venga a chile
I know this song was released in 1990 but not only is its message eternal, its style somehow hearkens back to a much simpler, much earlier and carefree time, the 1970's perhaps? In any case it's a MASTERFUL example of Jeff Lynne's genius.
This is one of my new favorite songs I stumbled across being a huge fan of ELO. Can't stop listening to it. Also this music video looks like the Home Improvement opening.
What a wonderful song......Jeff Lynne you are such a melody wizard. This ought to have been a mega hit! The part from 2:30 until the ending is magical....
A friend of mine gave me this vinyl not long ago cause he thought it was crap. Didn't know what to expect but it sure was worth listening. This track is great example, pure Jeff Lynne sound.
Perhaps one of Jeff Lynne's finest pop songs, and that includes his fistfulls of classics from his Move and ELO days. This was just about the best period for the rebirth of pop music. Jeff, George, Roy, Tom, Bob... hell, all of the old masters were recording fantastic music right around this point. I hate getting nostalgic, but what a great period for pop music. I'd gladly trade in most of the last ten years of music for another Wilbury revolution.
Actually he has, mainly by professional critics for unknown reasons. I remember reading one such critic's article on "guilty pleasures", and it was clear that he considered ELO as such. It was just not possible to consider this "good", let alone great. Fortunately times have changed.
ive alway said im one of the lucky ones . the 80s with tom petty , elo, styx, 38 special, and the list can just keep comin. no way anybody can say music today is even close to these days. glad i could be a part of them
"After extensive liposuction fluisa changed her name to Naomi and is now one of Victoria Secret's top models" lol. I always liked that song at the end of Deuce Bigalow and i finally found out who sings it. It's very sad for some reason:(( but i like the tune it has a happy connotation. Deuce Bigalow had a great soundtrack and a very funny movie. Fitting song for a movie like that.
Jeff is so awesome. He revived careers and turned songs into gold. He produced and helped write songs in George Harrison's Cloud Nine, Roy Orbison's Mystery Girl, Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever...and Jeff's own Armchair Theatre. And of course The Beatles' reunion tracks "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love." And the Traveling Wilburys. The list goes on. Such a great talent.
Best pop song I've ever heard! - And boy! The drummer is a danish girl, on this album with all the greatest prefomers of our time.. Man I wish I were there.... Enjoying.... /Johnny
JEFF, will you tour at least one time more for me? I LOVE YOU. Don't let the critics get you down. Everyday you play in my studio. I paint and you inspire me.. cheesy, but I play your songs all day everyday.
If you're still listening, I just saw Jeff Lynne's ELO at the Hollywood Bowl in LA last weekend, 9/10/16 - just an incredible show ! ! ! Next at the NYC Radio City Music Hall ....
This is the best song I ever heard in my life! Thank you Jeff! You inspire so many people and take nothing back )). You're my the only one I like to listen to! So many emotions in just one song. For the moment I'm writing this comment, you're already 70 and still you suprise your fans ALL OVER THE WORLD. Long live Jeff!
Just the line from the chorus “lift me up” was featured in the trailer to a John Travolta movie in the early 90’s. I can’t remember the name of the movie, but I went to see it Because the trailer played like 8 seconds of this song. The movie stunk, whatever it was, but 8 seconds of Jeff Lynne vocals got me to the theater.
DEUCE BIGALOW BROUGHT ME HERE AND I'M NOT ASHAMED TO ADMIT IT! 😅
Hombre de cultura...
Jeff Lynn's most underrated song.
Absolutely! This song is among his lost treasures.
ELO was/is better than the Beatles (John Lennon) In my opinion he rivals Tom Petty (my second favorite artist)
@@OUTTA-TYME88Jeff Lynn would say otherwise he ripped off there sounds but idc it’s amazing also Harrison is on this track.
Along with 'Blown Away', 'Let It Run', and just about every lesser-known ELO song..
That's a load of nonsense
Criminally underrated Artist
+Zed ....Only underrated by people that would not have a clue !!
Only underrated by people who don't know who ELO is.
More like "Biblically" underrated Artist
Yea, what Cameron and Nathan said
I agree. Travelin Willsburys was created by his inspiration
The world needs more Jeffs Lynnes
Kipper the Dog is the cartoon equivalent. I love them both!
ode2george ozf
Oh yes well said Cristian! Long Live Jeff Lynne's ELO please Tour in 2021-2022!
Robert Foxworth reminds me of him lol
👍👍👍
One of Jeff Lynne's most beautiful songs. It's about "lifting up" but with an undercurrent of sadness.
Pretty cool how the keys and guitar are playing ascending notes on the verse, isn't it?
Jeff has to be the undisputable grand Master of this kind of song. And he had that talent from early on. Jeff Lynne is right up there with Lennon and McCartney on the overall talent scale.Just incredible.
+sallymaggiespotty
Big call but I agree with you
yeah Jeff make part with John Lennon,Paul McCartney,Eric Clapton,George Harrison, Phil Collins and Bob Dylan
Well
Yeah good call Phil Collins is a legend but shorter of talent than those other superstars
+Trevor Dee Joh Martyn too!. it's a very good musican too
How did this song not become a smash hit?
I am asking myself this from the first time I heard it until today...
It is a smash hit to those that know great music Eric
amen!!
Thank you Jeff
I love the song, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't a "smash hit". Your love for the man has clouded your vocabulary.
He taught me how to "music."
I Love This Song...Heard it for the 1st Time at the End of Deuce Bigalow..
yeah 😊
Me too.
I had the album since day one, but I was really surprised, rather pleasantly I might add, to hear it at the end of that movie.
: )
So sad Jeff agreed to have this Wonderful song in such a perverted movie
How many amazing songs has this man written? I feel fortunate to have lived in this time.
I fully agree jeff has saved the MOVE and kept the ELO going after ROY WOOD scarpered off to form WIZZARD and now al
Jeff Lynne is such a great singer, musician and producer❤❤❤Jeff Lynne is himself, one of the best singers, songwriters, multi-instrumentalists, producers ever and a super kind-humble man who stays away from the drama
From the trailer for Shout 1991....A very underrated film.
I am so happy Jeff Lynne is finally receiving some recognition as the musical genius he is. You know you're pretty good when George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and Tom Petty play back-up on your songs.
1990s in one video, love the 5 frames per second animation.
God I love this song. This is a classic tune that summarizes unique beauty of Jeff Lynnes genius.
I just saw this comment & had to respond as I think the same thing. I love this song as well.
Fantastic song. George's guitar solo at the climax still gives me chills it's so perfectly placed.
Jeff Lynne. Legend. What else to say about this man ? A true pop master who keeps on going and pretty much delivers constantly whatever he does ever since the 1960s.
Sir Jeff is a Rock n Roll God!
And he just keeps making the best of all his many talents.
Jeff Lynne embracing new technology as always

When pop music had magic
This man is the real deal....
one of my favorite songs of all time. I could totally see this as a Beatles song.
Director:Jeff how many 3d animations and Green screens do you want for the video?
Jeff: Yes😎
deuce bigalow , 17 years later :(
ha ha!! that's what brought me here.
20 years now

I always loved Jeffs voice
I'm a HUGE fan of Jeff/ELO...and this non-ELO album was great. Always really liked this song.
I came here because of Deuce Bigalow and ELO lol great song! love his voice!
Jeff Lynne is the reason I can't get along with drummers. I love his music and I all I ever want from drummers is the Jeff Lynne standard backbeat.
Interesting. Jeff is a nice drummer indeed but according to the record notes this song is played by Mette Mathiesen on drums. Richard Tandy on acoustic and some other guys.
@@Martyn83rother guys lmaooo George Harrison plays on this
Jeff Lynne is a Music God!

Can always count on Jeff Lynne to deliver an incredible hook. Only heard this song for the first time a few hours ago and I've been listening nonstop.
He's brilliant
Uwielbiam to
Jeff Lynne,el mayor genio musical de las últimas décadas, sin lugar a dudas,un músico especial y espectacular😊😊😊😊

I believe Tom Petty was also on this song.
+commanderinchief23 Never mind Tom Petty helped write blown away. I couldn't remember what he aided Jeff with.

Oh yeah there is only one man that could bring that slide guitar sound, nobody sounds like George and their music is truly magic!

Who would have guessed Jeff was a pilot, or even a race car driver?
Too funny!
Jeff Lynne and George Harrison have loved Formula one. They went to the Australian Grand Prix together in the 1980's.

Who also watched End Of The Line? It's a great song too! :D
Great song by the music Genius Jeff Lynne!
This song flopped on the charts. I wonder why, its such a great song.
Did the Lord lift you up?, Jeff. You have a new life blooming in 2015, and looking good for the future.
Happy birthday to one of music's best.
This song always made me happy no matter what, ever since I was a kid.
@funkychick60 I agree with you, he's got a great voice & pretty good looking!! and cute too!!
The rythm section I would always recognize. Pretty close to pure perfection
