05:33 actually, this doesn't play during the fight against Blaze Heatnix, it plays when you're going through his stage. The fight simply plays the standard boss theme from X6.
"I need to hear more Mega Man"-- Noted Jesse, I'll keep that in mind, haha. I definitely have some songs I'd want to request from the series. So Mega Man X6 is the sixth game in the "X series" of games, which is separate from the regular numbered Mega Man titles. This song is for the stage/level (Magma Area) you play before reaching Blaze Heatnix, rather than during the boss fight itself. I get the sense that X6 wasn't liked as much as it's predecessors... it definitely has some gameplay elements (the Nightmare system) that are seen as a annoying or can be hard to work around. But I'd say the soundtrack is still as good as ever. This track is great! Definitely intense.
X6 has a special palce in my heart bc it was the first PS1 game I ever played, and even tho it was rather hard to beat, I loved most of it, especially when I finally able to play as Zero
Mannn, someone recommend the Megaman 8 english-version ending theme, X5's Unused DuffMcWhalen theme, or something from the Zero series if you want to hear some different ranges of Megaman music. Even some themes from Command Mission I'd love to hear. So many good tracks in the series!
Megaman X Has some killer tracks MMX 1 Spark Mandrill, MMX 3 Volt Catfish, MMX 3 Toxic Seahorse, MMX 4 Fighting Iris, MMX 5 X vs Zero, MMX 6 Boss Theme, MMX 6 Final Sigma
For the record, the sound you are associating with Mega Man is mainly just the style of Mega Man X which is different from the other subseries. For example, Battle Network has more techno inspiration. Also, with the fire theme stuff, I wish Mega Man Network Transmission Blazing Internet was up there, since its one of my favorite Mega Man tracks.
Mega Man X6 - Quite possibly one of the worst entries in the series Also X6 - Quite possibly one of the best soundtracks in the series May just be nostalgia speaking though, which is why I still return to it most likely due to a variation of the stockholme effect
definitely not the worst in the series, as zero is even more broken in this one(as if he wasn't already) compared to 4 and 5. If you only chose to play X then I can maybe see why, but even then 7 is an actual slog to get through lol.
They had the basic ingredients for a good X game even if unremarkable by the 6th one, but it was like someone came in later and went, "what if we made everything unnecessarily annoying?"
it's the 6th entry of the Mega Man X series, yes also about the name, it began already with classic Mega Man who's first name is actually Rock, hence why he's called Rock Man in japan, with his robot sister Roll, Rock'n Roll, it was all intended ^^
It's kinda wild how many references there are to music in the different character names: Bass and Treble, Beat, Tango... and there are even more obscure characters like Reggae, Punk and Ballade. I always found it strange that Capcom went with all these music names when there's literally no other reference to music in any the games (At least, not that I know of).
Children of Bodom, haven't heard that name in a while. Their cover of "The Trooper" is what comes to mind when I remember them. X is the "metal" series but the older Mega Man (1-10) definitely works in metal too. Those are more rock. And yes, Rock is Mega Man and Roll is his robot sister.
If you haven’t already, you should also check out Burn Dinorex’s theme from Mega Man X5. To me it perfectly represents how hot it can get in the summer, especially where I live which is closer to the equator.
The guitar is definitely not real in this one, the original sample is unknown but its likely from a Roland JV-1080 going through early 2000's best amp simulators
Thing with Megaman is that they have a Generic Boss theme for every fight against the Robot Master / Mavericks of that game. But the Theme of that character is always used for the stage preceding. Unfortunately in this case, you’ll become quite acquainted with this Song due to the stage being horridly long as a result of reused Mini Bosses and instant kill fire.
"I don't see Mega Man (music) going slow" Now I wish I could recommend Gravity from Zero 2 or Knight Man from MM6, both the original and the arranged version
x6 has some underrated vibes despite x and x4 being more popular in terms of songs. Most notably I love the intro stage, I always end up jamming for it.
You should see Chuck Dietz cover of this song, its peak 2000's lol. The games were made back when American/European music culture had a BIG influence in Japanese media. The original series 'Rockman' is indeed a nod to it. in addition to his name being Rock, he also had a sister named Roll, rivals named Treble (Forte), Bass (Gospel), and Blues (Protoman) and pet a dog, bird, and cat named Rush, Beat, and Tango respectively. The X series didn't stick with this convention.
Thanks for finally doing X series music. Hope you do more, especially from X6 itself. Really appreciate it. Also enjoyed your Xenoblade DE playthroughs, that's where I stayed for your channel. Just dropping my two cents though, regardless of what everyone is saying how "horrible" both X6 & X7, there's still some merits to be gained from both of them. Primarily the musics of course. If you want to try out any of the X games, The X legacy collections are readily available in modern consoles, especially Switch too. X6 and X7 are part of collection 2, So my advice is to try the game first and foremost before just listening to some of the harsh comments about both X6 and X7.
So in Megaman games the "Boss" music is actually for the stage itself. The boss fights all use the same theme. Incidentally every boss, enemy, monster, etc in the Megaman X series is a robot of some kind, and just about everyone in the original Megaman games were robots of some kind with very rare exceptions (Dr. Wily, for example). They're all quick plays and can be beaten in a couple hours. I'd recommend playing through them! The problem with requesting Megaman songs is that they're each less than 1 minute (With some exceptions). So ideally, you'd want to do like, boss themes from each game for example. But there's plenty of games to pick from. Megaman 1 - 11, and MegamanX 1 - 8. There's also spinoff games like Megaman Zero 1 - 4, Megaman Legends 1 - 3, and the Battle Network games (though I've never played those nor heard the music). Actually when I heard you were doing these elemental themed reactions, I was tempted to put together a "Fire Based Robot Masters" mix of fire themed boss zones from the Megaman (Mainline and X) series. Buuuut I have no idea how I'd get you to listen to that. lol And yes, Rockman is heavily music influenced. Allies include Roll (So... literally Rock and Roll), Rush, Beat, Blues (Protoman in English), and enemies include Forte and Gospel (Bass and Treble in English).
The MegaMan games have a lot of good songs to choose from, but I think the music in the Megaman X series (considered to be the more "grown up" version of the game) tended to be more like this.
Hell yeah Megaman X! Gotta love how some of the worst games in this series have the best soundtracks. I especially love it how this one is the most over the top, overly epic song for a stage that is essentially a boring auto-scroller. A fun thing to note is that every Megaman X game uses a different lead-guitar sample. X2's is more whiney, X3 is a little more grungey ect.
Megaman is such a gigantic compilation of sagas and games: there's Megaman a 2D action plataformer game where you beat bosses and get their abilities that help you to defeat other bosses easily, is the first saga with his own lore on the "years 200X" started on the NES and kinda childish design(?), there are 11 games (named after the number just Megaman (flat) to Megaman 11. then there's Megaman X, the secondary saga that continues the first one, lore on the "years 20XX", started on SNES and now we are very cool with more edgy designs because we're so cool and grow up and we dont ened childish designs and we live in the future and we all have 14+ years old wow we're so grow up, there are 8 games and as the first saga, they are named with the number from MegaMan X (flat) to Megaman X8. then there's the big break on the franchise and it expanded in very different ways: There's the Megaman Zero saga that continues an style like Megaman X saga, followed by Megaman ZX saga with some reinventions and up to here it has been an action plataformer in 2D. There's Megaman Battle Network that changed the whole lore and gameplay of the first sagas to make some kind of cardgame fighter in real time, and the Internet is part of the lore and we collect chips and the characters live in a digital reality because the internet is so modern and futuristic like good damn we are on the (IRL) year 2001 and that's the topic to talk about, and is followed by the saga Megaman StarForce that follow the same idea. Then we have infinite non canon games, spin offs that go from play soccer to trn based rpg to even things that you neither I could figure it out, but is such a fun franchise, is mostly carried by the character design and the music that has been spectacular in msot of the games even the ones that are horrible to play have good music. And lastly, the fun part is that while the songs have names of characters, that are actually the bosses, the song is not played during the boss, but during their whole stage, this is your stage music and the stages have the names of the bosses because that's how you usually see the info about your enemies in your HQ; The bosses usually have their own "boss song" in each game that are very short cycles because fights dont last very much, so all the boss essence is condensed into the stage itself.

Its tedious miniboss gauntlet, and shockingly slow "rising lava" segments, to this absolutely high energy banger
