    I got 111 with 4 days of preparation - R 29, L 29, S 26, W 27!!!! All thanks to your youtube videos!!!
    To be honest, I was not expecting to score above 20 in the speaking section because I zoned out while answering. My answer mostly just comprised of generic template words. No kidding - I blanked out for a solid 10-11 seconds at one stretch in the integrated speaking session. I was only able to bounce back and continue my answer because of the templates you suggested in your videos! I'm surprised to see how helpful the templates have proved to be!
    My prep tip to all students - When watching youtube videos, turn off the captions, set the playback speed to 1.75x or 2x, and take notes. This way, you can prepare for other sections and simultaneously work on your listening & note-taking skills. This really helped me because I got comfortable taking notes when somebody's talking REALLLYYY fast. So in the exam when I heard the lectures or conversations at a normal pace, understanding what the speaker was saying felt like a piece of cake - and note-taking was easy too!
    Rest - blindly follow what TST Prep says!!!! Really helpful videos!!

    • @TSTPrep
      @TSTPrep  Год назад

      Great question! You can share a story you heard from a friend, or neighbor, or even on the news, or on a show. Just be careful that when you do this you will have to use reported speech grammar (i.e. “I went to the store” -> “My friend told me that he had gone to the store.”). An easy workaround is to just pretend that the story you heard was actually about you. Hope that helps!

    JOSH! I took a real toefl test two days ago, scoring 30 and 29 in the reading and the listening. However, in speaking section, I used some transitional phrases that were completely the same as what I had used in Toefl Practice Online (on the ETS site, graded by ETS' speachrater ). Will this be identified by the speachrater?

    • @TSTPrep
      @TSTPrep  Год назад +1

      Hi there and thank you for your question. I have talked with representatives at ETS about the usage of templates and the answer is always the same, there is NO penalization for using templates. Also, if you use the same transition words and phrases in multiple questions, this is also NOT penalized since each question is graded separately. I hope that clarifies.

    I have a question, whenever I start speaking I always use the phrase (you know) in between sentences, actually my concern is that it would affect my score negatively, is that the case and if you think so what are your suggestions to avoid such problem ?!

    • @TSTPrep
      @TSTPrep  Год назад +1

      Thanks for the question. Saying "You know," many times will likely lower your score. This is because it is counted as an utterance or an unnatural pause between the sentences. If you only do it once or twice, it's not a big deal, but if you use it in every sentence, then you need to try and edit it out. Hope that helps. :)

    • @TSTPrep
      @TSTPrep  2 месяца назад

      Thanks for the question. In general, AI does a good job at marking some aspects of the TOEFL speaking responses, but I strongly caution against taking the score given by the AI as completely accurate. If I was scoring these answers, my scores might be slightly lower/ higher in certain points. AI is good, but nothing is as accurate as a human grader.

      Speaking speed is a crucial component of your score. You don't have to speak fast but you have to speak at a good pace. You should aim to say 120 words in 45 seconds. That’s okay if you have 10-20 words less, but if you have 20+ words less, that may be a problem. You need to increase your word count per response.

      @@ratnaprabhu3383 It is impossible to say for certain these would be exact scores, as we don't work for ETS, but based on all our experience and research, these scores should be very accurate.

    Hey Josh, I got my TOEFL score today and I scored a 30/30 in speaking and 28/30 in writing and it's all thanks to your videos. Thank you for curating content that helps all of us irrespective of whether we're just starting with our preparation or looking for resources to perfect our skills, you have it all covered. I didn't have much time to prepare for these two sections, in fact I only practiced speaking for a few hours a day before my test and it was the section I was the least confident about. Thank you for your explanations, your tips and tricks and for the way you constantly tell us in your videos that it's okay to make mistakes and not panic no matter how much or how little time we have in hand. Keep up the good work! 🤍
