Ya know… I think these series of bat review you guys are doing might be the best bat reviews. Other bat reviews have bigger kids or adults swinging these bats which are intended for kids like Matty! It’s a good point of reference for baseball dads, like me. Great job guys. Keep em comin, it’s nice to get feedback from a young ball player who’s dad might just know a thing or two or two about baseball :-)
These videos are great! My son is the same age, weight, and a lefty! He had a Fire last year, but when it was time to get a new one he picked the Clout over a Fire and Icon!
Got my 9 year old son the clout USSSA at 29 inch. He’s hitting awesome with it in comparison to the icon. For the price if that’s an issue I would stick with the clout. The icon seemed to be not as balanced for him. Awesome vid.
The Hype is a bit more end loaded. The Icon is heavy. The Bonsaber composite is light. All 3 are the best in the -10 -8 space for velo. Though the Tank and the Orange/White Meta are solid. Personally Bonesaber composite is the best. My 10u swings a 30-8 and just crushes with it. In Usa the Hybrid is unequaled.
My honest opinion is that one piece alloys are king until maybe around 12. Younger kids simply do not have size and power to compress the composites to take advantage of it.
the drop 10 and 8 hype is not nearly as ready to go out the wrapper as the drop 5. give it like 50 more swings and try again. it should be a lot hotter
I agree. As someone who’s spent a lot of time in the youth golf world also, it’s like parents giving their kid a $600 TaylorMade driver with a Titleist left dash ball & expecting them to hit it like Rory @12 years old. Meanwhile the kid hits the $65 US Kids Golf driver just as far. With golf you need certain clubhead speeds to make use of certain technology & I’ve yet to see a 7-12 year old golfer with 120mph clubhead speed. I’d be shocked if there’s a 10-12yr old with bat speed that makes the composites hit better over one-piece aluminum to justify the 2x cost.
Its a repaint. Has he not reviewed the 2024? I think its still cool to do it, but result wise its a repaint. Needs to be broken in just like the Zen. That Icon and Warstick are clearly the best composites out of the wrapper. I do think bats that require a break in seem to stay hot longer before being damaged. But to be fair most kids swinging -10 don't break bats too often anyway.
Doesn’t make much of a difference if any. I’ve tried all different speeds with him. This speed lets him square the most balls up. If we go too much faster we get a lot of foul balls and mis-hits
@ Agreed, but gotta wonder, does the barrel enter the same spot over the shoulder with the extra movement to get it there? If it’s off by millimeters it lessens the chance for a solid hit. For example, Ohtani’s pre-pitch stance - the bat is high and ready, not dangling below and behind the shoulders.

@@ChicagoBears2121 thanks so much!
100% agree with this. These are awesome. Even better is the commentary, “what did you eat over Christmas had me 😂”

Love the videos! Can't wait to see the Hype Fire after it gets broken in!
Thanks! We will make another soon!
Love your videos Matt. Hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas. Looking forward to a great 2025…..
@@RPeacock1128 thanks and same to you!!!
Break that thing in! We have the 2022 Hype and definitely hit the ball 200+ times very purposefully and got it popping.
We’re on it! Thanks!!!
Awesome video Matt, our boys are the same age and I’ve enjoyed watching him grow up. I hope you’ll also compare it with the soldier tank .
@@andrewwillis4597 thanks!! I have the Tank coming soon!

Thanks! The Clout has hit very well for him also
End loaded bats definitely affect the swing speed and bat path. Keep it up guys thanks for the info.
Thanks!!!

You can get old Makos, CFs and Metas for ~50 bucks. Get a kid thru the -10 years for ~200 bucks. Spend less on bats, more on lessons.

@micahcooper-gz8cpthanks! We will try again soon
My 9yo got the USA 29/18 drop 11. Orange grip. Haven't used yet.
Good luck!!!
Great video want to see it broken in and some battles
Thanks! Coming soon
Thoughts on dirty south bats?
The icon is the best
So far it is definitely up there
They should make a battery-powered bat warmer. like an insulated sleave to put it in and a little heater.
Yeah they should!

How far back yall think he's pitching from 10-12 feet??
@joshuadrinkard4135 about 15 feet
Thanks Matt. @AntonelliBaseball
is this v3? or is this v2 from 2024?
Hmmm not sure. It says 2025 on it
Kinda wondering why you hadn’t asked him to raise the bat off his shoulder.
I mean, it comes off the shoulder when he swings, nothing wrong with that.
I don’t care where he starts. He gets it off the shoulder before he swings

We teach "off the shoulder" it makes for a faster swing and a better aim.
@@Kenwood.. I use this for kids that do too much with their hands.
