    Okay, the aura/title thing really bugs me.
    I am a relatively new player. I brought a Seraph and a Soul Bender to 95, and with the high five event an enchantress and a Ghostblade.
    I literally cannot afford everything I'd need on every char to "look like I am trying" especially re: auras/titles. Even a +1 stat buff title for the enchantress would be another 20 mil (already got a GB buff swap for 22 mil, thankfully), I got an aura for the GB, but right now I am broke and completely unable to get another whole 60 mil even for auras (or for enchantress: titles) on all 3 characters, especially while also advancing their gears.
    Thankfully I assume the aura at least is less important on supports (since it just adds 40 int for the two I have), but good lord - imagine if I had raised dps, even if I'd gone for the cheaper fixed-damage types. A new player is going to be left broke and destitute trying to get even 2 characters into "acceptable" condition, if auras and actually good titles are as required as you are saying.

    • @AegisRick
      @AegisRick  5 лет назад

      No, not "look like you're trying" Actually trying. These extra stats are NOT for show, like I said, they're just as important as your regular gear. The current aura can give you 130 int with enchants, a sum that is equivalent to two of the BiS enchants worth 20m each on their own, thus explaining it's price. However, Good titles and auras are not as expensive as you are making it seem. 2 Mil for the title in this summer package for a DPS. Yes the current best in slot aura is 20 mil, yes the skill swap title is 20 mil. However, these are the BiS gear options though: the absolute best gear you can get for that slot. There is and have been PLENTY of gear that may not be the absolute best, but is at least decent. Go for that as a new player when it's available.

      Focus on 1 or 2 characters at the most (probably just 1 if you don't want to farm Total Eclipse). The rest of your alts should do Luke raids and sell the cards... don't need to gear those characters very much at all. Then you can cascade follow upgrade your alts if you really want to play them in end-game raids. CERA and all the things people feel is p2w just speeds up how many alts they can play in end game. But if you really main 1 character, it's not hard to get him/her with good gear, especially someone like soul bender.

    • @Freddy96LP
      @Freddy96LP 5 лет назад +2

      @@welkingunther4298 What if I want to main more than one damn character? Hell, High Five let us level two! One character is also not really enough to fill play time imo, cause I'll do what on them? 2x Tayberrs per week, then 2 raids on wednesday/weekend, and that's it. There's too little content a day to just main character, and gearing is way too expensive to gear more than one unless you whale.

    • @Freddy96LP
      @Freddy96LP 5 лет назад +6

      @@AegisRick Look. You are literally one of the oldest players in the game. You casually showed off a card collection at one point in this video that is likely worth more than my account, you have literally every character in the game at 95, if you need to get anything for a new character, just from what you have shown in this video you can basically off-handedly afford it.
      Maybe you are not the best authority to talk to new players about elitism in this game. I love your content, but this is simply something you do not have to deal with - 1) you are pretty well known, and 2) you're basically a Bezos compared to the game's economy. You don't have to grind the few characters you have through run after run of Total Eclipse to just try making 2-3 million a day, still take 4 days or so just to gear out a clone avatar set after other expenses, and still be laughed out of even Tayberrs pubs because I guess someone took offense to an un-upgraded card.
      Just the way you talked about the card upgrading shows this. "It's easy, with the harlem rares" you say, completely ignoring the fact that depending on luck even just the accessories can be another day or day and a half of farming for a new player, pushing you further back from all the other endgame gear you need.
      It's really easy to talk about elitism not existing when you are never confronted with it. You aren't the person getting rejected from a group because you couldn't afford an extra +2 ele on your enchantment, or have an empty slot or three on your avatar, or simply weren't able to afford the aura because there's so many other things you need to buy to get your character "Ready". Ready for content that a lot of people have already graduated from, btw, where it doesn't matter if you do 2.5b or 5b damage because you have 2 5/5 super Tay dps in your group. And I am not advocating for pure carrying here - I am stating that the way our community worships cutlines is silly when it's been months since the content came out, and you don't have to be under the assumption that everyone is barely making the cut any more.
      DFO as a game is pretty damn toxic to new people. It explains nothing to you, it is easy to make mistakes that take weeks to make up for, you basically need a good guild to show you the ropes (For any new players: Look up the guild "ACE", we're always willing to help newbies), and in the end you're still going to be spending way more effort than in other games to run content that is far less challenging than said other games. And yes, elitism exists, 100% exists in the form of worshiping unnecessary cutlines, in not telling newbies why they're not let into a party, and even in this video by downplaying the amount of effort a new player has to put into the game just to get halfway geared.

      @@Freddy96LP "What if I want to main more than one damn character".
      First of all, that doesn't make much sense to have more than 1 main, but I get what you are saying. But money wise, you wouldn't be able to gear them at the same time unless you grinded, had free carries, etc. With Fiend War guide mode as well as Taybers guide+solo mode being available, you can technically do pretty much every content right now, but at a much slower pace. Just don't expect to be pub ready.

    For those who are unaware, if you wish to reinforce your gear but find it too expensive, if you have unlocked Central Park you can go to Red Tail Jonathan and spend some refined terranium to upgrade your gear instead, which you can replenish by farming Disaster Sector. (If you can do full runs of DS3 that helps even more).

  • @welkingunther4298

    Most of the elitist reddit posts aren't justified, but compared to many other mmos, this game is in pretty bad shape for pubbing. Perhaps you're popular within the community so you anecdotally don't feel it, but it is hard for anyone new to jump into the game even with knowledge. There are PLENTY of 15 ele enchant harlem players with cap crit and nice buff swaps with +10 sky weapon from 3 weeks of buying sells back when tayberrs first released, and they were pretty much denied entry.
    Why? To fuel the idea of needing selling raid or TB. Yes majority of the reddit posters have no cap crit, a messed up, incomplete OP hope set, and a +3 weapon with 0 enchants, but enchantments and optimization won't let you get into TB pubs. To which I say, solo TB is the best answer they came out with. But if we are talking strictly the pubbing experience of many MMOs? I can name Tera, Vindictus, SWTOR weren't this strict in applications and the idea of selling spots in raids was the first I've ever heard in DFO.
    With people tired of DFO and just want to get their weeklies over with, they aren't obligated to carry anyone they don't want to. I personally accept anyone with max crit, good swap, and full harlem with +10 weapon even if they are dps. However, some days I will admit I go elitist mode and don't want to carry anyone or just want a fast clean run because weeklies takes forever.
    My advice is to only really care about 1-2 characters. Fund heavily 1 character at a time while avoiding miniscule upgrades (If you bought dolphin aura, it will most likely last you very long unless you want to min/max, which is how they trap you).

    • @freecomkcf

      yeah a lot of this horseshit is between two extreme camps, the hardcore with no time management skills who try to fit like 10 sets of Tayberrs runs in the hour between when they get off work and going to bed, and the casuals who are coming in from events like High Five who think they can just do the event and get a free ride in endgame content. -then we have /r/dfo in the middle memeing about both camps-
      honestly my advice to the latter group is host your own and lower your standards a lot, because the perpetually inconvenienced elitists have no reason to carry you. hell i'm not even povery geared and i've been doing that for Tayberrs for three months because i don't really give a rat's ass if each run takes 2 minutes or 10 (which resulted in me having a reputation to host "meme" pubs).

    • @welkingunther4298

      @@freecomkcf Yea, I normally host "meme" pubs anyways. Took a while, but got a bunch of FW characters who are attractive enough to host and get people to join.
      I said this before, but I feel like some of the problem is in the camp of the people being rejected... a lot of them don't join the other TB or FW pubs with "low-end" gear.
      If I host with my max crit, OP HOPE set, full harlem with +10 sky weapon characters... maybe get like 1-2 applicants every 10 minutes of waiting (and half the time, the applicant is in mix match gear).
      If I get onto my 9/12 TB characters, I get harlem applicants nonstop.
      Of course, like I said before, some weeks are just terrible, so I just want it to be stressless raids/TB''s. But otherwise, I would have fun hosting on my harlem characters is like minded/geared people wanted to join...

      Of course, if you don't have the time, most people (sane people) should understand and spamming reddit with angry posts ain't going to help. But I've noticed a little bit more pubs accepting less geared players (not a lot, but it's definitely better). Just don't expect to be accepted during China hours (right after rest 5am est).

    No, Rick. Sorry but I disagree. When you're 12/12 mstriker full decent enchants, full rare clone set with gold emblems, 100% crit, pet that increases your damage by +15%, full swap set, and you still can't get in because your sky's legacy weapon is +10, there's a problem. Your video is very informative and I appreciate all the hard work that went into it, but you're speaking for a small percentage of the community that is actually logical and reasonable. I'm soloing everything on my striker because I keep failing to hit +11 on my weapon, and I can't be assed grinding away when I work throughout most of my day and can't commit much time to DFO anymore. I just want to enjoy the raid experience but I've been unable to join one since FW came out.

      Of course not everybody will accept you, especially people doing skips, but if you're patience enough you'll surely join some party, i mean your character is way better and not as dead class as mine, if there's party who accept me i can't believe nobody is accepting you in fiend war.

       Welkin Gunther I'm not in a position where i can say anything anymore, because almost all my characters have their gear to join every single raid now.
      Whoever i agree with KOAGP, but what i read he saying goes deeper into the problem than just saying "it's dumb", because as player of kr server myself i can guarantee you joining end game raids is not that easy, it just a matter you need a little less to join than dfog.
      Otherwise youtube wouldn't be millions of videos of koreans trying to get their +12 weapons and wasting 200m for nothing for example.
      But to be honest it's doesn't matter because we're talking and probably playing in dfog. It's not like any player can't farm and build their character(s), some people ask for too much yes, but you still can find partys that will accept you just having the bare minimum.

I remember waiting sometimes half a day applying to basically any pub and not getting in, even with black sky +12 and reinforced earrings. I highly doubt im the only one who experiences this and even veterans agree its harsh. Saying you will eventually get accepted into a pub... isn't exactly helping the point. There's also dead content like tayberrs, nobody is doing it anymore and at the point of view of a new player it might be bad.
      There's also problems with time zones, you might get into raids a little bit easier if you're lucky enough to play in the right time.
      And i don't think there's a point to be made, because we all know the actual scenario of dfog is not that great, whoever we also know if a player dedicate time to what he wants he can reach his goal.
      Just to put something in perspective, i do prey guide mode with my battle mage even knowing i could join any party
      relatively easy, because it's easier, i don't need to wait an hour for priests, i don't deal with trolls and it's faster.
      Why i do that? Because it's end game content, i don't really need those gear, nothing in the game demands to be that strong. So why can't i just do 2 guide modes per week and eventually get those gears?

    Let's be real you admit that a lot of these slots are occupied by seasonal items.
    Then when you show case the ones available currently 23 mil. What person who just started for this New Adventurer event is gonna be able to get that.
    I'm a veteran of this and even I experience heavy burn out now and then. Someone who just started a fun DFO adventure being told :
    You're Not Ready! -> But I have the best gear -> Where's your Aura? -> I can't afford it -> Farm Total Eclipse -> That's not Fun.
    What do you say to that? Suck it up? DFO isn't meant to be Fun? If you wanna continue to have fun deal with it? Do Dazzelment and hope you get a rare card?

      The 1 or 2 characters you REALLY want to be able to do FW, you should be able to afford to gear. You can't have all your alts on the same level of progress unless you're willing to spend CERA or get lucky.

    • @AegisRick
      @AegisRick  5 лет назад +4

      The content in the end-game is designed for people who are "Fully Geared", and I explain in this video what fully geared means. Not sure where you've come to the conclusion that the extra gear aside from the epics is elitist, but it's wrong. You'll do minuscule damage and be a sandbag for the party for not optimizing the gear you have, simple as that.
      3 slots are seasonal items, but in my time on DFO we've had literally HUNDREDS of items for each slot, and they are always available for purchase in the AH priced accordingly. If it's the BiS item, it'll be as high as this aura is at 20m. If it's decent however, we're talking 2m like the current title. Completely manageable for a new player.
      As far as the New Adventurer event, and actually 95 cap in general, I think we're seeing firsthand the issue with gearing people too quickly. People believe the event has properly prepared you for the end-game when in reality, all it did was save you the time and effort it would have taken you to get it normally. Time and effort of which would have also been used to get these other gears properly. Dare I say, 95 cap and events like the New Adventurer have SPOILED people into thinking that's how it normally is. Wrong, you need this other stuff to be strong, no amount of arguing is detracting from this fact.
      What do I tell new players? I mean there isn't much to be said that I haven't already, I'm merely telling you the expectations for end-game content as it always has been. 4 years long this game has been going and nowhere have I heard any issues with titles, auras or creatures until recently.

      Edit : I'm aware it's by no means uncommon in Mmo's especially MMorpgs and DFO is far far far from some of the worst offenders. It's just how I hear it.

    Elitism has and will continue to exist in DFO due to how global whales/diehards/original Korean game is. Koreans have high standards due to getting content first and their hardcore gaming nature. Global version got a watered-down version of the main game due to it being a certain distance behind. The game just kept getting crippled as the content got worse and worse when people were frustrated with new content and new players that came in trying to learn to vary degrees of success. DFO had a lot going for it but the netcode with global version was never changed to it's pretty frustrating overall because you have to either run pubs, always play with the same small handful of people, or play with people that are not from your region that may cause problems such as desync or just horrendous ping.

    The reality is, it is considered "nice" if people accept your characters into raids if you "only" have a +11. And even if you have a +12 prey weapon, you will find yourself only making it to "green/weakest" party status for raid, and even that gets competitive since there's only so many slots.
    Game is fun, but need to understand pubbing is most definitely elitist. You need connections.

    Question: So if we DO already have +10 from a combination of items that don't include operation hope/ chronicle stuff, were fine right?
    For instance, my TS has (halidom, TT's watch, Growing square sword, +2 title, sea god, tech ring, and a creature), so we don't need to go out of our for for it since it would take off more than what the smallest set would give if were already +10 on our buff?

    • @AegisRick
      @AegisRick  5 лет назад

      Thats a negative. The chronicle sets and especially operation hope sets give extra buffs to your swap skill ON TOP of the simple levels. Getting +10 isn't all that's required for a proper swap set.

    • @comboer3334
      @comboer3334 5 лет назад

      @@AegisRick but unless I get the 9piece effect, the set I could get that would replace losing +3 on my buff only gives 4% more damage over having my current +10. Are you saying I should go for the full 9piece set effect, because thats the only way I can see putting 2 months of work in being worth it? On that note, do the abysmal weapon effects(8/12% skill boost) apply separately from the set effect, or does it get overwritten once you complete it?

    Well. This is kinda why i've resigned myself to sticking to Solo and Guide versions of Tayberrs and Raids... I'm not harming anyone but myself if i'm "sandbagging." Regardless of the amount of time I put in framing, or trying to learn this stuff, I highly doubt my ability to get this stuff down anyway, so I just avoid the idea of pubs all together.
    And no, this isn't a complaint on my end. This is just the mindset I go into the game with, because It's just easier for ME, to not be a burden on others, even if it does take a longer time to progress.

    Hey @
    AegisRick (or anyone who can clarify this for me).
    When you started to talk about enchantments you mostly talked about elemental damage enchants and in the end you linked the "enchantments spreadsheet". But the information kinda conflicts, since you're saying to go for elemental damage and the spread sheet was saying to go for raw physical/magical attack, which one i really should go after?

    • @AegisRick
      @AegisRick  5 лет назад +1

      I'd take a closer look at the spreadsheet. Nowhere do I see it saying to go for raw physical or magic attack. The title at the top states Physical Percent: This indicates that your class does physical percent damage. You still get all the elemental cards and such which give about 44 elemental damage and other stats if you just get the cheap enchants.

    • @solleks4920
      @solleks4920 5 лет назад

      @@AegisRick Hm... first of all, i'm sorry i totally expressed myself badly. Now that i'm reading what i said it's totally different for what i tried to say, so here is what i truly asked.
      In the video you said "You should have the 9 elemental damage of your weapon from imperial arena..."
      On the spreadsheet there's two option for weapon (using percent magic as example), Healer Sonair and Black Demon Warrior, both cards gives flat magical atk +21 and +14
      respectively. Even for weapons in independent magic, the options doesn't have elemental damage, both are independent attack.
      So, if you take the most expansive option in the spreadsheet, yes you can get 44 elemental damage, but it still conflicts with what you said about the weapon, which made me confused if i should go really go for Healer Sonair or the arena elemental bead.

    • @AegisRick
      @AegisRick  5 лет назад +1

      @@solleks4920 I see. The spreadsheet is indeed for budget options, but in this case I'd find watk on your weapon pretty unacceptable. The 9 ele dmg bead is far too easy to get not to warrant your effort and if youre putting it on a sky's legacy all the more reason you dont skimp out. There are several ways to make up raw attack. (Reinforce and refine, buffs, reinforcing your earrings etc.) But you arent going to find many ways to increaese your ele dmg

    Tbh the tone feels like one part vendetta against some one or thing and two parts in-depth guide, which is a bit of an odd combo, but its very appreciated regardless. I'm pretty removed from the elitism scuffle just by virtue of opting to grind guide/solo on my main and bypass the issue entirely plus too many alts with their own associated timesinks(variety is the spice of life, sue me :p). Very helpful to have a thorough breakdown and barometer of how to gear my main, and if I ever get the time and money, maybe another character. Thank you for the work you put into making this video.
    The lack of granularity on some aspects of DFO endgame does strike me as a bit weird such as me and a friend at the same gear level logging on to do something the same thing but separately or guide modes really just being easier solo mode farm as opposed to purpose built to be informative. For example an unlimited entry, only reward is knowledge/practice, automatically equip players with set gear to create a static cutline where player piloting is the sole factor or even a straight up infodump tutorial mode.

    Great Video! I've been playing DFO since nexon days and rick is VERY correct about the game and it does not actually help when it come to upgrading your gear to progress into high lvl content. Since I've been playing so long I kinda figured I'd have to upgrade everything to +10 min!!! It became easier to +10 gear last year or two? and that was a red flag for older players saying, "time to break your hard earned gear to be OP" Now I think that is when the "elitism" began to solidify. If you didn't +12 then... you were trash. As and older player, I should have has the money a resources to do so. I +12 a sword on my omni and it was hell cause luck sucks but I was in everything until lvl cap then quickly forgotten. I can see and understand new player experience and it really does suck when you want to do high lvl content to progress but it involves other players. They WILL NOT stop their progress and slow down to help others. I personally recommend skipping the hype content train. When anton first came to global I was excited but worried about gear and power. I couldn't even solo the normal dungeon so I knew I wasn't ready for a raid...raids in most mmos are full of eliltes and very few will take the time to teach on the spot and that may be the best way for some to learn other than watching a video of someone blowing things away skipping mechanics but take your time playing this game. Don't rush to get seasonal auras or titles. The same stats and effects always return just in different looks. If you really want to challenge and push yourself to play with parties, start with solo modes of high lvl content. If you struggle with solo mode then you will sandbag with a party. That sandbag challenge is actually pretty good. Use that to set a bar for yourself and get into farming gold and upgrading gear or buying more stuff. Hopefully this helps. Don't snap at rick--he is right when it come to optimizing gear...sadly others tell you in a elite way or don't tell you--game sure doesn't explain any of this crap but you have to do it so ask rick or others. You might get few idiots but you'll find your answer. I personally wait for solo modes of raids. If you can't solo mode something then you gotta take that time to upgrade. Since anton isn't officially a raid anymore but it sure is great warm up and it still has raid mechanics you should try that! Again I'm trying to help somebody out there.

      @@SageHerrera I'd say going for Harlem legendary gear then upgrading them to epic status will set you up good. They are often refered to them as temporary gear because when you want to go into endgame you start doing tayberrs and that set of equipment becomes the top set making Harlem useless. DFO always have cool events from time to time so you could free gear for your favorite character. I did solo tayberrs with full Harlem set and was fine. I currently have a full set of tayberrs and a +11 sky weapon and I solo everything expect the new raid...for now....but yeah I hope that helps a bit.

    This is helpful, but honestly way too overwhelming, and as a returning player who never did raids and didn't play the game all that much, this does look like elitism to require stuff like clones or rare titles with significant buffs to your class since they do require a ton of time and money if you don't pay, meaning that if you are new to the game and want to get invested in high level content in a reasonable amount of time, if you don't play the game all day, you will have to pay with real money to get there, especially if you want to play more than one character.
    Like come on, some people have jobs and don't want to spend money on a free to play game and can't play the game all day. Thankfully there's a lot of events to compensate for that, and content in lvl 95 even before raid can be fun, especially since there are guide modes for raids, otherwise it would just be impossible for the average player to get into anything in high level, and it would just be pay to win to even try to do the hardest challenges and stand a ghost of a chance.
    When you've spent a little time in DFO to figure things out, this video makes it seem like the game is just pay to win and not worth investing because of how much things you need to do. Which isn't true since it only concerns end game, but it's a big part of mmos so it's repelling.

    Yeah, there's a lot of elitism in the community. Couldn't really finish watching when you tried to blame it on the game-- Just because the game doesn't explain certain things, doesn't mean other players are justified in acting the way they do.
    I understand this is an online game and people are gonna be sideways to fresh player. But, just because "it's gonna happen anyway" shouldn't be an excuse. Being neutral about a problem like that and sweeping it under the rug (a problem which has had me leave and many others leave) just because you've had the privilege of spare funds & free time to sink into a game is kinda gross. (Also you're a content creator with a sizable following, so don't you think people will initially give you special treatment compared to somebody who they don't know.)
    Bragging about how you've spent all this money and time in a game so it feels validated, that's an /annoying/ part of elitism But, the whole "You should already have-" & other type of elitism mentality is sad and destructive. EVEN MORE SO if a game leans towards P2W.
    Edit: Thanks for the pin and proving my point. **It's free advertising**.

If you are geared enough people will join, if not people won't. Don't be here and act like people must carry you if not then they are elitism, you are they one apply for the party and they have all the rights to reject you. Whatever rick stated was just facts, gtfo if you are trying to do TB or fiend war pubs with no enchant and full harlem, and good luck with your 10 mins TB solo runs lmfao. At the end of the day the goal of this game is try to gear out your characters and make they stronger, if you are not doing that why do people want you ? Not only in this game, in CS, League, as well. If you are just not gonna contribute in the team, you will get flamed and people would not want to play with you. Simple as that.
