+A Han I asked a dealership near me if I could put 1 thousand down to hold one and he showed me a list of 90 people that are coming in to the dealership for bidding on the two they are getting in. I planned on getting this car but after seeing that list i started to look elsewhere. I wish they made more!
+rgbgfive I will not be buying this car without a test drive first and won't buy with a dealer market adjustment. I'm prepared to do a engine swap in my BMW E30 and be happy not making a monthly payment
+rgbgfive They are no limits on the build numbers so you can get one whenever, just be prepared to wait longer as they are being built at the saarlouis factory in Germany, which services the entire Focus orders around the world. Those two that 'people are bidding on' are just from the first batch.
The car looks like it's going to be exciting to drive! I didn't like how at 3:07 you can see that the AWD system is sending too much power to the front wheels, which makes me feel that this system is heavily FWD biased.
I'm curious to see how the awd system will stack up against the new sti...my Rex is a beast in the snow, but Subaru has Decades worth of awd development...the rs is pretty new to the game.
+vance lighter No it is not! Ford has been in WRC longer than Subaru. They have more stage wins than Subaru. Sick and tired of people thinking Subaru is the be all end all of rally and AWD systems. Go do some research on the RS heritage. Subarus AWD system is dated, heavy and power sucking. There is a reason they no longer race in WRC.
vance lighter I am sorry I got snippy there Vance, you know, RUclips can get to ya. You are right, It's just the Subaru system will always inherently have understeer.. know what I mean? That's why Mitsu began to dominate in WRC, their torque vectoring. Sub is still at least a couple years away from developing the next STI and with the family car priority they have adopted over the past couple of years it makes me nervous.. Don't get me wrong, I owned an 06 STI up until last year and loved it, could just tell that drive train needed a lot more power and I didn't wanna kill the resale value modding it with only 40k miles so I sold it to dip into 911 ownership (mistake). Here's to hoping they adopt the JDM STi motor in the N/A STI.
Ford Focus RS vs Subari WRX STI will be an interesting match up. It seems as Subaru release a 380 hp version in Europe because they know very well how capable this RS is going to be :)
terry947 What are you even talking about? It is a brand new engine. Jesus you are daft. The 2.3l ecoboost is a brand new engine, they just started putting it in the Mustang, and it is being tuned differently for the Focus. Please go do some research before talking. HP is not everything in this category. These cars are made for handling, and from the sounds of it Ford is out to beat everyone else with the RS. I think it will put a new standard on these AWD hatchbacks. You must be 12 or something, if all you are worried about is some HP number.
+SpyderRios Ford is in another league atm. Not only in performance, aslo in design and materials, interiors... The RS comes to compete with other high level hothatches like VW R's S3 etc. Giving with less price more driving sensations.
Launch control is so cool, kinda pointless in a way if you know your car well enough to launch it properly but even so, I really love the sound of the engine and exhaust when you're waiting for a launch, that's one thing you can't do without it and that alone is probably the reason I want a car with it so bad haha. Shame they put that sponge of an engine mount in the Fiesta ST, that really puts me off from launching my car hard because I don't want to hear the sound of the engine trying to smash through the firewall, I care about it too much haha. I'm guessing the engine mounts in the RS are nowhere near as bad if the launch is something they are trying to perfect.
+Hydragurum I guess it technically is just dumping the clutch because the launch control tech in this car is just something that holds the revs at a certain point like anyone with a steady right foot can do in any normal manual car, so yeah on that basis I'd guess that launch control isn't great for the clutch but then it's just like ragging the car through the gears is bad for the engine, clutch, gearbox etc in the long run too! Need to treat cars with a bit of respect if you want them to last :-)
+Hydragurum no worries :-) you'll get used to it after a while, people drive manuals in all sorts of different ways so just do whatever your comfortable with, it'll come naturally after a while and you'll probably prefer the freedom it gives you, especially when it comes to driving fast!
+Bat B Mechanical is a more common degree among teams, but you need Electrical engineers as well to make the control systems. I am currently a junior in mechanical engineering and I have a friend who was hired by ford at the beginning of the summer, and he is mechanical. If you really want to do something like this, go to a university with a Formula SAE team, it is the easiest way to learn about designing a car and working with all of the struggles that come from working with a team on a project that requires learning and dedication from all parties to work smoothly. The friend I spoke of was hired after he was interviewed at one of the events we race, and a lot of automotive manufactures show up to the events and do look at hiring people from the teams, as they know we have experience in designing and testing automotive systems. Hope this helps!
I am so excited about this car, but.... isn't it ironic to talk about launch control in a car with manual gearbox? I mean, you have to release the clutch and do the gear shifts....
+nkaragou Launch control still has to hold the engine at a certain RPM to maximize power and grip. Plus, there's probably a connection between traction control and launch control to keep wheel-spin to a minimum.
Reptilian Overlord well, probably, but still the clutch release must be perfect as must the gear shifts... right? I think they should have auto or dual clutch transmission. That's where launch control would really pay off.
Burty117 I owned a Focus mk1 till last year, now I own a mk2... so I know what you say. I much rather have the RS than any other hot or hyper hatch, that is for sure, but maybe with other gearbox....
I was really hoping sell my foxbody and use that money as down payment for a new RS but my hopes have gone down the drain. All of the Ford dealerships around san diego and LA have completely sold out their allocated RS cars or so I was told😞.
Interesting that jump from 310ps to 350ps causes reliability issues, Many guys flash tune their turbo engines more than that and never complain. So what's the catch?
+Turder There is no catch, there was uproar from the RS community that 310ps was not enough when compared against the competition. Plus the previous model being 305ps. And you are correct, my RS was i-flashed from 305ps to 340, with no changes to hardware
mountune has so many parts on their website to replace & fix stock parts on the rs because its not build proper from factory. bad engineers and marketing at ford
Now we know there are more issues with the engine. Cracked engine block?!! This focus RS project felt really rushed. Reliability reputation took even more of a hit now.
+Oliver Brodie Somewhere between a joke and a real wish. I've been driving manuals for quite some time and I want my next car to be an automatic. But in the same time that Focus RS is really something. When the time comes I will make the decision. For now it is just a dream :)

Wish they stopped putting these stupid low profile 40r and 35r series tires on any car that is performance oriented. It looks cool, but in the real world there's pot-holes and a size 40 or less won't survive even a shallow pot-hole.
You're joking arent you? The only parts transferred to the MK II is the dashboard and engine block. Practically every panel is different, as well as seats, steering wheel etc etc. Having owned both, I think I'm in a position to make that judgement
+YOUNG BLITZA the mk2 with no racing heritage. no limited build numbers. a stupid dated colour scheme and I'd consider the engine and gearbox a vital part of any cars character sod what the body kit looks like and the seats are similar if not the same as the mk3 rs which are all things the mk1 has different to any other ford.
Because all you need to do is look at the car and spot that the only thing different visually to the ST is the front and rear bumpers and spoiler. russler jones I think you should do some research before you comment. You'll find the MK II was built with limited numbers, as with the MK I. The MK III is not limited. Thanks for coming Oh PS - the MK II 5 pot has more defining characteristics that the boring 4 cylinder that's getting shipped with this ugly behemoth
When my focus goes to sleep at night he dreams to be like this car.
Same
I'm sorry...
Watching them put the car together is exciting. :)
so much cooler than any golf. . .
Very true
I'm not a Ford fan at all but since this car has came out I'm truly impressed and may even buy it.
got one on order
I hope to the next Focus RS have more excitement than the previous :)
i WANT IT!
if i had known this was coming i wouldn't have bought my ST. I would be saving like mad for this car!!!!!!!
yup gonna want one in that sweet blue!
Saving up for one
+A Han better be saving up extra for those dealer mark up's
+sammy smith I know right
+A Han I asked a dealership near me if I could put 1 thousand down to hold one and he showed me a list of 90 people that are coming in to the dealership for bidding on the two they are getting in. Ahh I need this car!!
I have mine ordered already.
I want one!
Keep the vids coming! Quicker too!
Apparently this car will cost under 29k for UK customers.... Amazing value for so much performance and handling!
I want one! In silver please :-)
+soundseeker63 Mine shall be with a hoonigan livery
I'm definitely going to enjoy that Launch control at AutoX. And put my SVT Focus on a daily use more than the RS once I get mine. :)
I wasn't going to get rid of my SVTF, just wanted to get a new car and the RS seems right up my ally. :)
The Ford Focus RS will be sold in Brazil?
Underrated Engine ;-)
BRING THIS CARS BACK TO THE U.S. FORD!!
The car looks like it's going to be exciting to drive! I didn't like how at 3:07 you can see that the AWD system is sending too much power to the front wheels, which makes me feel that this system is heavily FWD biased.
I would love to know what 7 people didn't like about this video lol
starting price is $47,000 in Canada as shown on ford.ca car build/price.. thats the same starting price as the GLA 45 amg
+rkky In Sweden only 44.000 $
+DJDKHM CR South Miami I dont mind

+SpyderRios HP is not everything though.
terry947 Why? YOu have yet to even see the car in action and you already assume they need to do something to it?

terry947 Please just stop commenting on here. You are clearly dumb
51k all in for this car in Alberta FML. Maybe next time.
Cant find any in Canada....
sigh I will have one of these
Why no more fast Mondeos?
Where is Ep7?

I wonder how you get to be in a production team of a car?
+Bat B College education and ambitiousness.
Hmm what kind of college education
Engineering
Automotive or mechanical?
+Bat B Mechanical is a more common degree among teams, but you need Electrical engineers as well to make the control systems. The Mountains!!! to be honest, is where we will see the truth ;)
super awsome XD
will trade my kidney only 23 years old and has had only light alcohol exposure for the new Ford Focus RS

Why did I buy the 15 st...
+Kiefer Gebhardt buyers remorse kickin in
+Kiefer Gebhardt I almost did until i seen the rs was coming out. just need to save that bigger down payment.
+Kiefer Gebhardt I got a 15 plate ST too, but it's swapping for this once it arrives!
they had to falsify the hardcore by adding a sound generator and exhaust pops.
the sound need to be a little more agressive
Now we know there are more issues with the engine. Cracked engine block?!!
This focus RS project felt really rushed. Reliability reputation took even more of a hit now.
Passing ford durability requirements. Hahaahaahahhaahhaahahahaahhaha. I can't. Hahahaha

+Oliver Brodie That's the choice I have to face - Exciting Focus RS with manual or a boring Audi with DSG transmission :)

Menudo aparato stan haciendo...lo k no me gusta son las 4 puertas,el resto ok
Wow you could like just buy an STi instead. That is what your copying right?
+kkdogg2011 Copying?! hahaha! Ford has been in WRC longer than Subaru! Do you not know the heritage behind the RS line? Go do some research ya mook
Wish they stopped putting these stupid low profile 40r and 35r series tires on any car that is performance oriented. It looks cool, but in the real world there's pot-holes and a size 40 or less won't survive even a shallow pot-hole.
+Hans Blitz Agreed...
. . anyone else bored rigid by this . . .
The RS took too long to develop, it doesn't look modern anymore inside out... already 6 year old design...
Buy a Focus Rs and get a new engine every 9000 miles! Absolutely disgraceful the amount of these crapping themselves.
MkII Focus RS is the only Focus RS worth owning. This is a cheap ST rehash. Waste of money!
+YOUNG BLITZA the mk2 is a st rehash the only focus rs worth having is the mk 1, i think its like 70% of the parts are different to a normal focus
You're joking arent you? The only parts transferred to the MK II is the dashboard and engine block. Practically every panel is different, as well as seats, steering wheel etc etc.
Having owned both, I think I'm in a position to make that judgement

Sorry but an american built "rs" is not a real rs
+dilawer321 Uh, its being developed in the UK and Spain and built in Saarlouis Germany
