@@sarahp.3772 I dunno, my slightly-older-than-Boomer parents didn't say stuff about each other that was quite that bad but joked at their 50th wedding anniversary celebration that the only reason they were still married was because they didn't both want to get divorced at the same time - except that I knew it wasn't a joke. Times were different back when they got married. There was a lot more obligation to stay together. Things were definitely not ok for a majority of their marriage. Thankfully my dad is way too nice to have said anything like this about my mom, but I can't say she was the same. They never did get divorced tho. She passed and now my dad is 82 and dating someone new and I've literally never seen him so happy in my life. It makes me realize just how unhappy he was for so long.

Omg the sibling one got me… my friend in high school dated this guy that looked exactly like her older brother… I kid you not they looked like literal twins. It was so bad that the day she introduced him I said, “oh hey, [insert her brother’s name]”. At first she got mad and she was saying, no this is my boyfriend. I didn’t believe her for a solid 10 minutes. I even said, “ew that’s really not a funny joke…. What’s wrong with you?” After I finally came to accept that her boyfriend was not in fact her brother, I asked if she thought it was possible that they were related. I told her she should get DNA done. She refused.
Scary thing is, I wasn’t the only one who thought they looked alike. All of our friends and even her own mother thought the same thing. I would love to get their DNA done even now. It’s too suspicious.
Another friend accidentally dated her first cousin because their families were estranged. It was funny, sad, and gross when we all found out. I couldn’t believe she told people at school because obviously it spread like the plague. The way she found out was that they decided they were serious enough to do the whole “significant other meets the family thing”. When her boyfriend/cousin showed up, my friend’s mom recognized him. THAT HAD TO BE ONE HELL OF A DINNER. 😅😅😅

I was a year into my marriage, I went to a childhood friend of mine's wedding. When we were hanging out with her bridesmaids the nights before O was explaining how my husband and I met, courted, and have been married a year so far. And she joked saying "and you still like him?" I got really concerned for her and was like "of course I do, if we didn't like each other why would we be married?" And we both looked at each other realizing our friendship was not the same as it was as kids. She was in the boat of "do y'all even like each other?" and I was more in the "we're super in love but are also realistic and understand marriage goes through trials"

Seriously though, 9 out of 10 times the "Better than you" couple's relationship is trash-- BUT they need to *CONSTANTLY* keep talking it up to convince themselves and everyone else with ears that everything is so wonderful when reality it actually isn't.
I had a former friend like that who always talked about her boyfriend like he and their relationship was just the absolute best, and all the while she would make little snide remarks about my relationship with my bf. Meanwhile, her bf cheated on her and left the used condom in their bed for her to find, he would disappear and go no contact for days at a time, and *I once saw him in a club getting some woman's number while he was still with my ex friend.
She also talked about his mother like the two of them were best friends when in reality his mother couldn't stand her.
*I went to the club with a totally different friend, went to go on the dance floor and there he was all up in some woman's face putting her number into his phone.

It's actually not uncommon for couples to resemble each other. One theory I heard is that people basically fall in love with their own face. Also, over time, couples start to resemble each other more because of following the same lifestyle basically.

This is pretty common forsure!! My husband and I have been married only 15 years and I try real hard to never do this, or tell him what “he should or shouldn’t” do! I see guys say a lot I should eat _____ or go ______ and the wife be like oh no you shouldn’t or that’s not good for you etc! I’m of the mindset that my husband is very much an adult who can make his own decisions without my input!! 😅 or the couples who “always are right” and can’t let it go! I could careless. My husband and I are on the same team, we are one. We don’t need to compete!

Oh GAWD, I went over to my friends house so we could go out for a girls day. She told me she forgot something, went into the house, and like 15 minutes later, with no a/c on in the dead of summer, I went back inside thinking like uh...hello...are you having to dig it up from the back yard or what, what's taking so long....I walk in and there is screaming and yelling and tears are falling. It was so awkward. I was like, hmm, I'm going to pass out if I go back out to the car, and the a/c inside felt so good, so I thought maybe if I bump into something loudly enough, she and her husband will quiet down and feel embarrassed in front of company and we can actually leave. Nope, they came through, yelled in front of me, yelled in the kitchen, tried to get me to agree with one of them (I stayed out of it), then finally a full HOUR later, I just told her we gotta go, k. Fighting in front of you couples are the worst because you know it's bad that they no longer care who sees them or hears their personal private business!
