  • A comprehensive tutorial, mono printing leaves and feathers on greeting cards
Ideal for those who are beginners or those that want to experiment
    Requirement List
Galli plate / press, or you can use glass as in picture frame glass, or X-ray film, or even a smooth plastic place matt.
    A rubber roller.
Scrap paper for removing excess paint, old telephone books/newspaper/paper towels/tissue.
Acrylic paint, most brands are fine, but I have found the heavy bodied/ structure - thicker types are not as suitable as the regular or flow type paints.
Paper, in this video I used white card stock, ready made greeting cards. You can use any paper such as cheap copy paper/cartridge paper, card.
You can also print on patterned papers/ music sheets, book pages etc.
Clean the gelli plate and roller with water or baby wipes, baby oil works too.

Thanks for the congrats! Gelli printing is great, best thing is you don’t need a very expensive printing press to mono print :)

Thanks Linda, I get it know. It was the tissue, phone book getting excess paint off where I was confused. Do you wipe down the plate after use?
Do you clean the roller each time?
Or does this depend if you start using a different colour ink on the plate?
    Thank you. D.

I just roll the excess paint off the roller on scrap paper, such as junk mail, telephone books etc so long as you do that there’s no need to wash the rollers between colours. Definitely wash the roller at the end of your session, warm soapy water and rinse. The plate can be washed also. I generally just use a damp sponge, or baby wipes. You can also use baby oil.
