I never thought about how funny it is that Captain Falcon's big finishing move is literally just running you over with his car
My friend would get really salty losing to that move. Saying "Oh yeah you're such a great fighter hitting me with a car!"
Hey, Giga bowser originates from Luigi's mansion where Buu control's a much scarier bowser with Ice powers.
(I think)
It’s like everyone else uses these cool moves to represent what game they’re from or what they are.
And Captain Falcon is just: *Vehicular manslaughter.*
@@moyairock8743 uhh I think that’s the wrong Boo 🤣 king boo isn’t pink
Batman in injustice one be like
Negative Zone being based on Luigi's entire existence it not really a theory; the trophy in Brawl flat out says he learned this power after years of living in his brother's shadow.
Or Luigi is just an e boy
I can’t believe luigis final smash is weaponized depression, released through the form of INTERPRETIVE DANCE.
Kirby’s Final Smash - specifically the flurry of attacks finishing with a massive slash - seems based more on Kirby’s final attack against Magalor in return to dream land
I was just about to say that so thank you.
was just gonna mention this, but you beat me to it!
Was also about to say this fellow Kirby fan
Yea and how the last attack kirby grows his sword and blows up magolor
Just like in smash.
Kirby also does this when finishing off Grand Doomer.
I don’t even care if young link had the same final smash, JUST LET HIM USE THE FIERCE DEITY MASK
this, just change the model, nothing else
Im still mad they're using Young Link's Ocarina of Time model. While it is nostalgic, Majora's Mask Young Link design has a bit more to it, also, having the Fierce Deity mask as a final smash would make total sense in that case, as OoT YL doesnt have access to the mask, yet he still has fire arrows ... with the fairy bow, yeah, Smash YL doesn't make sense at all lmao.
That would have been super cool if he put on the mask then traps them while using the flurry attacks it would make so much more sense considering how powerful that thing is in canon.
They probably used Young Link as a way to keep the ancient versions of TP Link.
That's probably why, even if having something else from oot or MM could have been great for sure !
I mean, all Link as such vast weaponry, why do they have to be so similar ?
It could also work as a double reference since he does that in warriors
11:17 Interesting Fact:
If you listen carefully when Luigi's "Negative Zone" plays, you can hear a remix of Luigi's Mansion. And the term "Negative Zone" is probably a call out of Minus World from Super Mario Bros 2 The Lost Levels (which Luigi was playable in)
This also means that Luigi's Final Smashes had some sort of reference to Luigi's Mansion!
2jp actually lacks an accessible minus world, whether by an intentional fix or just because of how the internal data ended up ( the glitch is caused by using a warp pipe before its destination is properly initialized ). it's only in 1 in which you can access the minus world through anything but memory manipulation
Negative zone should become waluigis final smash if he ever joins the roster
You joke about them being a "marketing tool" but Final Smashes were actually planned from the very beginning, they evven had the recordings all planned and everything, but due to the constraints of the hardware they never had the chance to impliment them until Brawl
He also said that Sakurai just wanted to remove the transformations in Smash 4 when it was confirmed to just be impossible to do due to 3DS Hardware Limitations. On top of that, he missed how Kirby's Final Smash is more specifically the killing blow to Magalor in Return to Dreamland, so I'm honestly questioning how much research is honestly being put here.
@@griefingg0lem685 saved me a click
@@griefingg0lem685 But also don't think it's actually completely impossible on 3DS. It would not be possible for the game to run at a smooth 60 fps, with 4 players, at the desired graphical level and handle transformations. The same goes for Ice Climbers; normal gameplay should be fine, but if you have 4 players with 4 AI controlled ones, that's when it gets tricky to run smooth.
So while it's true that he couldn't make it work on 3DS with his vision in mind; it's kind of wrong to simplify it that much, success it can cause misconceptions.
@@griefingg0lem685 It can be hard to do thorough research on every single character, especially if you're not a big fan of that specific the series.

Original Pinned commend:
Quick update - getting a lot of comments that Kirby's flurry of attacks might be based on his final attack against Magalor at the end of Kirby's Return to Dream Land. I Looked at it during production of this video, but decided it probably wasn't based on it since there it's just 4 slow swings, instead of a big flurry of attacks. I probably could have at least mentioned it though lmao
Also: WHOOPS, I mixed up the names at 3:28 damn. Mario's Final Smash is called "Mario Finale" and the special shown in Super Mario RPG is called "Ultra Flame"
13:54 there's actually an official book about the original 151 that says something like "when this Pokemon gets angry, it inflates it's whole body to several times it's original size" there may also be Pokedex entries that say the same thing but I don't care about the Pokedex so I don't know.
peaches final smash music uses the mario 3 underwater theme slowed down
i was about to type that in that its a reference to my boi magolor
It also would be good to note that actually in Metroid Dread samus does something similar to her final smash near the end of the game, but this might be just a nod to the smash series. Just thought I'd mention that.
Thats probily true

What do you mean?
@@JaelinBezel there is a vaporeon copypasta going around
@@JaelinBezel warning: NSFW
Hey guys, did you know that in terms of male human and female Pokémon breeding, Vaporeon is the most compatible Pokémon for humans? Not only are they in the field egg group, which is mostly comprised of mammals, Vaporeon are an average of 3”03’ tall and 63.9 pounds, this means they’re large enough to be able handle human dicks, and with their impressive Base Stats for HP and access to Acid Armor, you can be rough with one. Due to their mostly water based biology, there’s no doubt in my mind that an aroused Vaporeon would be incredibly wet, so wet that you could easily have sex with one for hours without getting sore. They can also learn the moves Attract, Baby-Doll Eyes, Captivate, Charm, and Tail Whip, along with not having fur to hide nipples, so it’d be incredibly easy for one to get you in the mood. With their abilities Water Absorb and Hydration, they can easily recover from fatigue with enough water. No other Pokémon comes close to this level of compatibility. Also, fun fact, if you pull out enough, you can make your Vaporeon turn white. Vaporeon is literally built for human dick. Ungodly defense stat+high HP pool+Acid Armor means it can take cock all day, all shapes and sizes and still come for more

Pikachu and Pichu's Volt Tackle is named Volteccer in Japan, a reference to Pulseman's eponymous technique. Game Freak also developed Pulseman.
I agree and also Rotoms design and its ability has the same origins from that game too
You called the final smashes "uninspired" but they are completely original and based on the core concepts of each character.
Sounds pretty inspiring to me.
Yeah honestly, I don’t feel the same for most of the video
Yet, they're still cheap
Correction: is not that Sakurai didn't want transformation characters to transform, is that they weren't able to correctly implement the feature on the 3DS, that's why transformations eventually came back on Ultimate.
I think the idea that a final smash is "uninspired" because it has "no direct origin" is kinda flawed. When Sakurai adds these characters into smash, he's adding his own interpretation of them, therefore he's allowed to make changes where he deems it necessary, and I think someone of them are pretty good. They don't need to come from a previous game to make the character feel like themselves. The point is to make you feel like you're playing the character rather then to make you feel like you're playing a reference to the character, so if an original final smash is necessary then it shouldn't be seen as lesser.
There is a reason not every character with an original final smash was called uninspired. He reserved that for mainly echo characters.

kirby actually does use his ultra sword multiple times in the final boss' last hit
14:01 Fun fact: Jigglypuff's evolved form Wigglytuff has multiple Pokédex entries that imply it could do this stuff outside of Smash as well! Moon's dex states Wigglytuff compete to see who can get the biggest and Ultra Moon states they can grow to 20 times their normal size (65 feet or 20 meters). Finally: Let's Go states it can expand without limit. Somehow.
All of these entries are from games newer than Smash 4 though, so there's a fair point to not include that in a video.
Are you high dude? Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee was solely on SWITCH, and is for sure NOT older than Smash 4. Smash 4 is on Wii U, an entire console generation behind ffs
And no, Lets Go being a remake means nothing, as its still a sequel story like 90% other mainline Pokemon games and remakes, LeafGreen/FireRed excluded. After all, they most likely didnt even consider Wigglytuff having size increases back in Red/Blue/Yellow/Green. So they added the idea for the remake.

Actually Kirby does various swings with the Ultra Sword in Return to Dreamland. In the final battle, against the first phase of Magolor.
Ok for Kirby 2nd final smash there is an instance where he did use multiple Ultra Sword slashes during the final boss. It also changes each swing but it doesn’t in smash, but makes up for it by being way more crazy and animated
Correct me if Im wrong but isnt Bowser's "new" Final Smash partially based on Yoshi's Island where a giant Baby Bowser looms in the background?

I've always liked to think Samus' Final Smash was meant to be the equivalent of the Final Weapon Samus gets for the games finale, but this time it comes from the Power Suit absorbing a Smash Ball.
It could also just be Samus absorbing the Smash Ball and pumping out the shittons of energy absorbed from it.
Also worth noting is that in Metroid Dread, the final upgrade is (REDACTED)
The term "Negative Zone" might be a reference to the infamous Minus World glitch from SMB1.
9:10 there is a moment where Kirby does use multiple slashes of the blade on the final boss, but it is different to the multiple slashes in ultimate
One fun fact about peach/daisy final smashes is that the music that plays is a speed up version of a melody from super Mario Bros 3 , the one that plays while you're in a secret cloud area. Has a lot of coins and a 1up to collect with the toonoki suit
“Most fighting games have a super move”
Nick: are you sure about that?
It's interesting that you pointed out the trophy description for Ness's Final Smash, but not the descriptions for Mario Finale or Negative Zone, since they do provide short but informative explanations. Mario's Final Smash is indeed partly based on the Fire Flower attack, but according to the Mario Finale trophy, it also stems from his "fiery personality". The Negative Zone is exactly how you said in the video; it's Luigi unleashing the dark negative energy he's accumulated over the years of being in his brother's shadow.
Come to think of it, many games that cover Luigi lore seem to focus on how he's number two and inferior to Mario in many ways. I've seen it happen iirc in Paper Mario, Super Mario 64 DS, Super Paper Mario, and of course in Brawl. That being said, the trend seems to stop after the Year of Luigi.
something interesting is that in the end of metroid dread, samus actually does use an attack similar to the final smash. im assuming its based on the final smash because it came after, but still
the blue sponsor background is actually awesome.
6:43 One of the reasons that characters don't transform in Smash 4 is because the Wii U and 3DS version had to be the same. And the 3DS has problems with that so they took it out.
10:36 In Pokémon, families of pokémon are typically referred to as their base form's family, not their baby pokémon's family. This means that the "Pichu family", should be referred to as the Pikachu family. This is most likely just cus Game Freak can give a pokémon a baby form, but they cannot give it a pre-evolution.
It feels like forever since your last video, when it’s only been a month lol
YES
Kirby’s final smash is likely the finisher used against Magalor
In Fox and Falco's Final Smashes, we could say that whichever of the two that is on the reciving end of the attack is replaced by Krystal.
Dark Pit Staff is based on the Staff's Special Attack in Air Battles.
They both only hit everything in front of them instead of being screen wipe out.
10:50 hey guys, did you know that in terms of water-based pokemon, vaporeon is the most
Hey, did you know that in terms of solo pure physical Pokémon Yellow challenge, Vaporeon is the worst matchup for your Pokémon? Not only are they in no egg group, because Yellow had no Pokémon breeding, Vaporeon are an average of 3"03' tall and 63.9 pounds. this means they're large enough to be able to handle Body Slams, and with their impressive Base stats for HP and access to Acid Armor, you can't even three-shot with Seismic Toss.
Due to their mostly water based biology, there's no doubt in my mind that a STAB Hydro Pump Vaporeon would be incredibly powerful, you could easily lose to one for hours without getting progress.
They can also learn the moves Haze, Mist, Aurora Beam and Quick Attack along with not having Physical weaknesses to exploit, so it'd be incredibly easy for one to carry the Rival battles.
No other Pokémon comes close with this level of difficulty. Also, fun fact, if you get frustrated enough, you can make your knuckles turn white. Vaporeon is literally built to crush physical attackers.
Ungodly defense stat + high HP pool + Acid Armor means it can take physical attacks all day, all types and BP and still come for more.
Captain Falcon’s final smash may be a reference to the fact that in F zero games cars can ram other cars off the track causing them to explode
9:03 actually he does do the multi hit thing a couple times in return mainly against magolor and the grand doomer
A theory of mine is that final smashes were shortened down and made less gimmicky along with the new smash meter is because they were altmesst partially intended for competitive play
If they were then Dark Pit would have the same Final Smash as Pit.
Cool, never been this early! Just caught this in class, hope you're doing well everyone!
I got lucky and had a day off when this reply was posted.
I don't know why Daisy couldn't get her own Final Smash. If I were to change it, I'd make it the Crystal Knuckle from Mario Strikers. She'd transform into her Strikers uniform and kick the opponent(s) up. Then she'll bash em to the blast zone in the direction she was facing, similar to the ending hit of Meta Knight's Ultimate Final Smash. At least this one actually references something from a game.
16:16 smash ultimate Bowser final smash is a reference to bowser fights in mario galaxy 2 imo.

Ultimate's Final Smashes are *designed* to be cinematics, so that the other players don't end up having to wait forever for the final smash to end and it becomes impossible for a FS to take more than one stock.

Mario's final smash is probably inspired by Ryu. Marios moveset initially was inspired by him, in Smash 64 his up b is based on Shoryuken, his neutral special is based on Hadoken and his down b is based on Tatsumaki. He's less similar to Ryu now that he has cape and fludd but regardless it makes sense that Mario's super move would also be inspired by the character. (Another thing that supports this is how final smashes were planned since smash 64.)
I think Bowser’s Final Smahs was also a callback to the final boss of Yoshi’s Island where he also grows supersize to try and stop Yoshi one last time!
14:28 can we talk about how he has his Jigglypuff in a master ball?
Yoshi’s first final smash was based on the rainbow shell, which granted you both abilities at once
I just realized that the amount of DLC fighters in Ultimate is the same amount as the Smash 64 roster.
Also with Bowser in Ultimate. It's also a reference to Yoshi's Island's final boss.

The move with the blue volt tackle is also a reference to one episode of the Pokémon anime in the Unova region
Boi oh boi I’ve been waiting a long time for this
I've been waiting for a video like this for so long
From what I recall, the problem with transforming characters in Smash 4 with Zelda/Shiek, Samus/ZSS, and Pokemon Trainer was that the 3DS couldn't very well handle them, and so they had to be separated. Of course, what's true or not, I wouldn't be surprised if that's always difficult to ascertain.
The Star Fox Team also does switch Peppy out for Krystal as an active combat member in Star Fox Assault, though really who's in the Arwings in Falco and Fox's Final Smashes, I have no idea. As for making Falco attack himself, well, you can do the same with Chrom in Robin's Final Smash, and you can have Rex assist Pyra and Mythra in attacking a Rex Mii. Plus, of course, mirror matches can happen anyway, lol.
I don't think I've ever seen a Final Smash origin video which noticed that the name of Luigi's original Final Smash, "Negative Zone" might be a reference to the Minus World glitch from Super Mario Bros.
I enjoy these types of vids. Nice (I haven’t even watched it yet. Hyped)
kirby does actually do a flurry of sword swings in return to dreamland but at the end of the 1st phase of the final boss magolor
