Falconry: Bal Chatri trapping hawks and falcons

Ben, have you ever caught any Merlins with Bal Chatri? I know Dho Gazza or Phai Trap works better, just wondered if Bal Chatri works too...

I have by accident and once on purpose. They are more like a big falcon and want to make passes so a Dho Gazza or a Phai are much better. I would t intentionally choose a BC for Merlin’s. But if I unexpectedly find a Merlin while out for something else and only have a BC, I still put out for it. Much lower success rate. But better than nothing if that is all you have.

Could swear I had an old falconry book with Woodruff as an author -- any relation? -- I prefer the ole bownet to trap passage goshawks and other migratory birds -- can't beat the Bal Chatri for cruising the roads for redtails and kestrels -- boy would I love to try my skill at a passage Sharpshin on doves & starlings.
