Contour lines are lines drawn on a map connecting points of equal elevation, meaning if you physically followed a contour line, the elevation would remain constant. Contour lines show elevation and the shape of the terrain. They're useful because they illustrate the shape of the land surface - its topography on the map.

Ma'am, your explanation is very clear and easy to understand.I have a doubt.When you explained about convex and concave slope, you put concave symbol for convex and symbol of convex for concave.Please clarify.

See, according to light chapter in 10..... The surface of convex is outwardly curves, means the visible side is outwards.... And in concave, it's inwarldy curves and vice versa of convex

Contour lines wrongly taught... Every map Contour Interval ( CI) is same. No 200, 800 etc. It equally rise.
For RF 1/50000 map the CI is 20 mtr. Every 100 mtr interval the contour is shown bold.
