I made many spindles with jar caps, (metal and plastic). I also made Turkish style spindles with the wooden paint stirring stick. They work great. Few years ago, I started spinning plastic bag yarn, so the spindle needed to be heavier. I glued pennies or glass flat marbles to the inside of the cap to make it heavier. Thanks for sharing.
I love the added weight idea! A great way to make it more versatile. What do you make with your plastic bag yarn? I have a few more spindle making videos coming.
u are a great teacher. thanks so much. i have made most of my drop spindles. i kept my chop sticks from the local chinese food eatery. i found a pkg of wooden round circles and put them on the chop sticks. instant drop spindle. its so fun to make them and its so fun to spin. thank u.
Thank you! That's a great idea. I have more drop spindle content coming up. Is there anything specific you would like to see, or anything you could use help with?

If you don't have a drill you could use pliers to hold a nail over a candle and then melt a hole into the plastic lid.
Yes, that would work too. Great tip, thanks for taking the time to share with the community.
What type cap is this, specifically? I want to use the correct proportion to the pencil
I honestly don't know. It's something I pulled out of my stash of recycled materials. It's about the size of a mayonnaise jar lid.
