What do students in Year 12 expect from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme? What realities do students in Year 13 face during their IB studies?

Keep it in mind that this was presented by a bunch of kids in an expensive international school before they’ve handed in the EE, completed TOK and even started to enter their exam session.
Talk to anybody on the other side of the IB, and the majority will tell you a mark out of 45 on a borderless diploma isn’t worth chaining yourself to a desk for 2 years to gain close to no interpersonal or practical skills.
Ironically the IB was founded to educate students on forming themselves into individuals who can contribute into society and the globalised world. The reality being that it’s an expensive program consisting of essays and courses based in useless theory such as TOK. You don’t change the world by writing essays and taking exams, making it academically challenging doesn’t change anything.
Enrol in your standard regional high school certificate. Give yourself time and freedom to follow your passions, gain real skills and develop into an individual that can actually have an impact on issues and your community. Don’t waste two years writing essays which do nothing.

Fellow IB student here, I have to figure out what I’m going to do for my math IA and I have to finish up my biology IA. It’s a lot but I’m thankful that I tried to do as much as I could last year so I’m not as stressed as others but I still have a little stress
I also enrolled for the IB. I had to submit my Math IA draft last Friday, but was incomplete. The best tip for ALL IB students now is to try and finish as much as you can.
For you o.o, the best topic for Math IA is something that you're interested in. One of my IB friends did Voronoi diagrams about convenience stores about his neighborhood, and the teacher told him that it was really good. Choose a simple topic that you can extend on.

As an IB graduate, I think that if you're aiming for high grades and you have mental health issues you shouldn't do IB. But, if you're up for a challenge and don't care too much about grades I think you should!

As an IB student: it sucks, but so does any upper-secondary school curriculum. Personal preference to whatever aside, it’s school. Also a LOT of stuff depends on who your teachers are.
