    I'm from Newfoundland now living in Ontario. Grew up on the ocean. Icebergs also come into my area of Newfoundland. Last time that I had a vacation home was in 2002. Think I need to go home. I miss it.

    Why not use a drone to put a sensor on an iceberg?

    • @gkourounis
      @gkourounis 4 года назад +3

      I'm the guy from the video. You could drop a sensor onto an iceberg with a drone, but the odds of it staying on place would be slim. These icebergs are slippery, they melt and roll and flip with the waves and tides. I had to use a special ice-climbing screw to attach the beacon to the ice.

    Exciting video but there was one glaring error at around 1:24 when it was said that Newfoundland was the "most easterly point in North America". Actually, Greenland is also in North America and is much more easterly. The video is still exciting to watch, though. I have driven from KY just to watch the icebergs in Labrador and hope to see them again next year.

      Yeah, Newfoundland makes many false claims. Another one is that St.John's is the oldest city in North America...And I'm from Newfoundland.

    • @gkourounis
      @gkourounis 4 года назад +2

      It's me, the iceberg climber in the video. That berg weighs thousands of tonnes and it rolled 2 1/2 hours before I climbed, it and again a couple of hours after I got off of it. I assure you, even small icebergs are very dangerous to get close to.

    "You step on an iceberg, only one person has ever been there...." Come On!
    I grew up among the icebergs in Ilulissat, Greenland. I even snowboarded on one that was way bigger than these puny ice seen here.

      He means only one person has stepped on that particular iceberg and I’m calling bullshit on whatever farce of a story you’re trying to tell bud, you wanna blow smoke go have a dart
