Being from Belgium, my dad worked a summer job there on a tobacco plantation in 1977. Growing up he used to tell us all about his trip to Canada (and the US). It's my dream to visit Simcoe once :)
I was born in Simcoe in 1966, attended Elgin Ave public School, loved going to the Norfolk County fair, saw Star Wars in 1977 at the Strand Theatre, used to go swimming at the outdoor pool which unfortunately is no longer there. I moved away up north in 1978 when my dad was transferred. I have a lot of great childhood memories of Simcoe. I remember when Leon's was Woolworths. There used to be a big yearly event in town called 'Friendship Weekend,' with events all over town such as 'pancakes in the park'. Do they still do that?
I'm not sure if they actually do. I'm not from Simcoe myself, but I do know they light up the area with the lighthouse during the Christmas season. It's quite a spectacle!
@@shawnvandevenne Yes, they did that back then as well in the park across from the high school and the cenotaph. We use to drive through each year to see it.
Great video! I grew up in Simcoe. My parents still live there and I visit about once a year. Such a charming little town. Great memories of my youth. :-)
Hey, Greetings from India . As an international student i will be moving in Fanshawe college, Simcoe in January 2022 . Just worried about the part time jobs and accommodation. Are part time jobs available for students ?

Check out pages from the Government of Canada. They should be able to provide you with more information. I think the government can assist you in relocation and job searches.

I remember going to Simcoe all the way back in 1991 at Christmas time. I had an amazing time seeing all the huts and lights!
My mother's family came to Michigan from Simcoe.
My grandpa used to go to the strand theater when he was young. Back then it was literally still a crank projector.

I love it too. It's also close to Port Dover, an occasional summer getaway spot for me.

When was this filmed? I grew up in Simcoe but left a long time ago.
Just last week.
@@shawnvandevenne Oh okay. The downtown looked deserted.
I make occasional visits there, I'd say not much has changed in the past few years. Still nice though.
I wish to visit Canada one day..
It's a beautiful country

There may be a few available. I'd recommend checking the local job bank online for further details.
Heyy, is it easy to get a part time job in simcoe??
Hey please let me know the job opportunities and accommodation for students 😕

Are there the variants for Ukrainians who come there? Job and accommodation ?
