There won't be a Darnella recording (and not letting herself be threatened, intimidated, arrested or beaten away) in more than a few percent of the potential situations. If anyone intervenes, Floyd lives, but then you get Floyd put back in the system and someone else possibly put into the system for the first time.
Our prison system is bad, real bad. And it's set up for recidivism at high rates.

Even in broad daylight...even knowing they were being recorded...they STILL LIED on their official reports. That's a level of comfort and hubris and arrogance that everyone should take note of. These are the same people who testify in court, under oath, and whose sole word can lead to convictions.

Lifeguards get *paid* to take on the risks that are an inherent part of their job duties. The same goes for firefighters, etc. I'm old enough to remember when words like "hero" were reserved for people who risked themselves to save someone else *and didn't have any kind of obligation or financial incentive to do so.* THOSE are heroes.
