Really impressed with how well the bulk head you built off the mold fit in. Nice work. Fits like a glove.
Maybe if you seen how long I spent building the mould you wouldn't be so impressed 😂😂😂. I spent hours building the mould, my bloody ocd wouldn't let me stop. I am very very happy with the result tho, to be totally honest my original plan was to bond the bulk head in place, but after more thought I decided I'm going to fibreglass it in place so the mould didn't have to be so precise after all. But at least I know I can do it in future if needed.
I have literally started fibreglassing the other half of the mould today it needs another 4-5 layers of fibreglass ans I can pop it out of the mould hopefully it turns out OK.
Thanks for watching Michael I really appreciate it.
awesome work. Definitely a tedious process. I also agree with cutting the line you have lined up on inside of gunnels I think it would look slick.
@michaelrichards9479 Thanks Michael, another vote for the cut I see. When I next do work inside the boat I will cutting it off on video so if it looks terrible I can blame all of you 😂😂😂😂😂 Thanks for watching Michael ans thank you for your help and input I really do appreciate it.
When the boat is done lots of people watching can say that was part of my idea or my say and I like that I want viewers to be part of the boat restoration
Fantastic video, just picture the day you put on the trailer and launch it it will all be so worth all the cold days grafting, looking forward to that 👍
Thank you Mel. You just made me smile thinking about launching on a summer's morning watching the sun come up will I motor out to the grounds I really can not wait and I will be bringing eveyone along via videos. It's getting close to completion now it is very exciting. Thanks again Mel I appreciate it
@ anytime mate
Hi Dave sorry mate just got back off holiday. Great to see you back 👏👏👏👏👏👏
No need to say sorry john you always catch up, I hope you had a great holiday and i hope you enjoyed the video
Enjoyed the video work has certainly cme along on the boat, you are doing a brilliant job and come a long way. I know it has taken time but as you same family and work has been there also.... Well done...
Thanks bear. It's definitely moving in the right direction now. I can't wait to get it done
Looking good mate, one thing for sure the whole job has been done properly, with thought, care, precision and the right kit!!
No rushing, plenty of research into the right materials and methods.
Had a big catch up on your progress vids tonight 👏👏
Thanks Brian I really appreciate it coming from you, I know you know your stuff. Lots have got bored now it's taken so long but I'm trying to do it right and with out rushing which I think is obvious now three years later 😂.
But there's not long left now and I can be proper proud when it's done and it's safe and strong too. It is a shame I have poored this much time and money in to this of type boat, it could of been a commercial or charter boat, in hindsight that is lol. But I'm adding features to this and it's my own and will be perfect for what I'm planning to use it for.
One of those things is skate with you hopefully
Absolutely mate!! I had a big catch up tonight, was a binge😎
I’m coming on the maiden voyage-be a privilege to tow it and drop her in if you fancy it on the big truck? 😍
@callibrian Thanks for doing that Brian most the videos are a bit draggy and boring it's not like the skate video but I do appreciate you having a binge watch thank you.
I'm definitely up for that and yes I'm happy for you to launch it. I would like to think we could do it later this year but will see how everything goes this year with the boat and engine. But we will definitely make a plan for 2026 and more than once a year hopefully
Thanks for sharing. Hard going in the cold weather, even inside a garage the temperatures are too cold to do any resin work. Boat is coming along nicely and once you can do the fibre glass things will move at a rapid pace.
That's no problem, thank you for watching. It is very cold it's hard to stay warm because I'm not moving much.
Yes i think your right once the glass work starts it will take shape fast.
The preparation work from spraying the top is going to take a very long time tho so hopefully it don't hold me up to much
absolutely wonderful video keep up the fantastic work thank you so much Dave thoroughly enjoying it
Thanks tris and thank you for watching ans support what I do I really appreciate it thank you
Coming on nice now dave . Well done. All the best from G.Y
Thanks Carl I appreciate it
Nice job, Dave. Gotta cut to the line! Looks good. Cheers.
Thanks nick. I think I will cut them thanks for your input I appreciate it
Yer dave yes cut the line will make it look right I did the same with a wilson flyer wen it was done and finished I put some dressed hardwood around and stained and varnished it looked really nice. Think you doing a grate job and looking forward to seeing it finished not long now
Thanks Neil. I seen your pics you did an amazing job. It's definitely getting close now I can't wait
Looking great Dave
I would cut along that line will look a lot better
Thanks Lee that's two votes to cut it now. Also thank you for watching long enough to see that part I appreciate it
@ anytime Dave it’s coming along great
@boatfishingscottyano Thanks Lee I really do appreciate it more than you know thank you
Tell him Lee lol
Well done Dave. Get that line cut, will clean it up nicely. With regards to the front pockets, if you glass them in you may have trouble gel coating inside. Have you thought about maybe a cargo net idea or even a removable front panel? Just imagine a drink spilling in there or a bait covered hand touching the inside of the pocket and fish guts festering in there until found 😂
Thanks Simon, yes I think I will cut it off everyone has said the same.
You might be right with the painting inside pockets and the cargo net is a good idea.
I was planning to put some small pipes in for drainage but I will look to see if I can find some elasticated cargo net that could work well. Thanks for the ideas
Nice one Dave bro love the update as always, yeah cut that line as you said the curve dont look good
Thanks casters. One person has said build a panel to go along so I'm going to have a mess about when next up at the boat and see how a panel would look. All have said cut it so I'm 99.9% sure that's the way I'm going now
@@C3BFA Choice is all yours Bro dont over think it
@castersfishingwales2038 Don't over think it??? I think it's a bit late I was only replacing the deck three years ago 😂😂😂😂
@@C3BFA Ha ha lol bro have noticed lolX
@castersfishingwales2038 😂😂😂😂😂
Nice to see you back cut it off it will look fab
Thank you. Pretty much everyone said the same so it's getting the chop lol
Loving the videos pal I'd cut that bits down the sides and round the back to make it match in. Looking good mate keep up the good work.
Thanks Mike I appreciate that. Yes I'm definitely going to cut it now everyone has said the same they can't all be wrong lol. And the more that say cut it like yourself just reinforces it that it needs to go. Thanks for your input Mike and your kind words I really do appreciate it. I hope you continue to enjoy the channel in the future. Thanks Dave
@C3BFA your more than welcome mate 👍
@mikeinsley6702 Thank you
Liking seeing this coming together to your own spec! That will look good going on that line i feel, live bait well looks the part 👍🏼 Will you be putting drain hole’s on shelves you are making? Cheers again for video 👍🏼
Thanks sloth, third person to say cut on the line so I think that's what I will do tbh. Took me ages to decide what shape to do the tank but I think this is good like you say. I hadn't thought about drains on the pockets but I am now lol I will add drains that's a good idea. I think maybe some small waste Pipe plugs maybe like the pipe on the flybridge. Pop it in the pocket corners. What do you think?. Thanks sloth and good thinking
Just a thought incase water gets in when cleaning boat,as to how,i dont know enough to say tbh,lot to think on,have a drain in the two chambers,or just one in rear, with a channel between the two 🤔👍🏼
@sloth4666 ye I will have to make a plan for the drainage in side pockets
Cut it on the line boat looking good keep the vid going could you list some materials your using resin and fillers to get nice smooth Finnish thanks 👊
I will get that done Steven. In other videos when I have been fibreglassing I have shown all. Products and said where they are from and showed how I do it too. I'm not sure which videos but it's definitely in the Nab17 play list videos
I think your line is good and will definitely look better cut to the line
Thanks for that Tim. I still haven't cut it yet was waiting for comments. I also really appreciate you watching the video for long enough to see that part. Thank you
Hi Dave loving the videos the boat is going to be great when you finish it 👍 are you fitting hydraulic steering or keeping it standard 🎣🎣🎣👍
Thanks Gary I appreciate you watching them, it's normal steering at the moment, I will be upgrading to hydraulic at a later date once funds allow.
You will be grinning like a Cheshire cat on launch day 😃 good luck with the rest of the build looking forward to watching your progress 👍
@garymurray4878 Yes I will, thanks Gary I appreciate it
Cut to the line on the bow, it will look much better. Nearly there Dave.
Thanks Neil I will be cutting I decided I will do it in a future video so you can all see it take shape. It is Neil is getting closer by the day I can't wait
Dave don’t forget to install weep holes in your pockets mate so any water from rough waves / rain et doesn’t sit in the pockets unnoticed
I will be doing that now John another person mentioned it and it didn't cross my mind. I do really appreciate all of you giving feedback and ideas thank you. If you see or think of anything else please let me know. Thanks John
I was going to say which pockets my jeans or the boat 😂😂😂😂😂👖👖🛥️🛥️🛥️🛥️
@ 🫣really Dave🤣🤣🤣
@@C3BFA will do mate
@ guttered to miss your live stream Dave. Just watching replay now. So much work has been completed and to a really good standard mate.
Would it be worth getting a small portable diesel heater ? It might help warm up a localised area for glassing As for the inside of the gunnel how's about just fully extending them up to the steering position it would hide the cable and wiring from the console.
I think it would maybe even a diesel blow heater but funds are tight to be honest just been Xmas and any spare cash needs to be saved to finish the boat off. I'm hoping the temps will lift soon enough to glass anyway.
I hadn't really thought about adding a panel tbh but it's not a bad idea. The wiring and sterling cables are going to be running through the grey pipe you can see in the video under the gunnel stops them hanging down. Got decisions to make now ans more thinking 😂😂 Thanks for your input Thomas I really appreciate it
Hi mate, what about drainage in your side shelfs your building
Hello day fisher. Thomas Hill said the same, it didn't cross my mind but I will definitely be incorporating some drains it's a good shout. Might use some little bits of pipe the ones that they use for toilet over flow. What do you think?
Thanks for watching and thanks for your input I really appreciate it.
@C3BFA any sort mate would be handy for when your washing boat down
@Dayfisher I definitely agree it would it didn't even cross my mind that's why I love these comments it really does help so thank you. If you have anymore ideas please fire away I'm all ears
Hi Dave, the bait tank you are making, what kinda money is that costing to make? I'm considering making a dual length battery box with some storage but not sure if it would cost more than what it's worth
Good question, I have no idea at the moment, it depends how much resin and glass I use. Then I can say, I will be starting it very soon and making videos too, so will hopefully give you an idea. Thanks dave
If you cut that gunwhale down as indicated, will you not lose some of the longitudinal strength? Its effectively acting as a longitudinal stringer at the top edge of the hull. If you reduce its depth you will be reducing its effective strength, especially as its already been discontinued when you went for the shorter cabin. Any bending moment on the hull will be compromised. What do you reckon?
I can see your point, but with the shape of the gunnels and the the rest of the reinforcement I will be doing it won't be an issue. If this extended part ran all the way up and there was no other reinforcement I would be worried. But it only runs half way and it's there to improve the look with a full length cuddy. Good observation tho ninja thank you
@@C3BFA fine job. Just thought I’d call it as I saw it. You are building in a lot more stiffness and it’s already a much better build than when it came out the factory. Spring not far off, so things will get warmer soon. Happy 2025 and keep the content coming.
@Ninjavaz Thanks ninja, I really appreciate your input and ideas so if you see anything else or have any ideas please let me know it's all appreciated positive or negative.
@Ninjavaz I think it's much better than factory and it's more modern materials etc. And better things fitted like separate storage etc
