I think one thing the anime should have shown and is clear in the source material is that the gloves he looted from the mobs had the state "cutting resistant", what enabled him to catch the blade of Igris. Just a second long flash of the stats of the item would have helped. Otherwise the throne scene comes of as to out of nowhere. And perhaps the other mini complain is naming it "job change quest". Clearer it would have been to make it a class change quest. And you speculated he adds with it another job, but essentially him becoming a player reset all his stats and a class he might have had before the double dungeon event. So at the time he is "jobless" / "classless".
