Relational Frame Theory (RFT) is considered an account of both stimulus equivalence and human language. RFT expands upon Skinner’s verbal behavior and tries to explain how individuals learn and use language through the integration of stimulus equivalence, understanding, naming, metaphor, analogy, and rule-following. Heather Francisco, Board Certified Behavior Analyst at Brett DiNovi and Associates reviews a study on this topic while covering 5th edition task list items B-13, B-14, and B-15. Remember to subscribe to Hacking ABA for free weekly content and share this video with a colleague who is studying for their boards! Also check out our second channel ‪@TheBdinovi1‬.

Equivalence based instruction and applied RFT is such important work in our field!!! 2 of my favorite topics... Thank you for creating!

I like that you touched on metaphor, in my view this is something worth investigating in regards to behavior and identity.

Wait is it based on language or pictures/words in particular? In other words, are non-literate humans capable of RFT?

A language model in behavioral terms is using language mostly in the sense of verbal behavior defined by Skinner. Illiteracy might play a role regarding accessibility to some stimuli, but as long as we keep making contact with the environment and other people in It, we are capable of establishing relational responding.
