    Thanks for the review! Very detailed. Will you be doing a review of the Dell Precision 5480 that was released earlier this year?

    I think Dell is having bad quality issues, I bought my 5770 4k A2000 and the display had clouding defect because of the backlight was not uniform, they sent me a new one, this one with backlight not uniform and after 3 days the motherboard was gone now I'am waiting the technical person to replace the screen and the motherboard. I bought the first 3 months ago and I still can use it because of Dell s bad quality controls or no control at all. It's a pitty because the colors of the monitor are fantastic and this machine has zero throttling with a Geekbench result of 13900 for multithread, a beast.

    Great review. Would you recommend i9 or i7 intel cpu? Worried that i9 would overheat the laptop cousing this upgrade have small gain in processing power in reality compared to i7.

    is there any precision laptop that is mat- non glossy display??

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  2 года назад +2

      There are, usually the non-touch and also non-qhd/4k displays are matte finish displays. Dell uses the term "anti-glare" display as the matte finish display.

    Thank you for your great Review. I am in the lucky situation to choose my next buissiness computer by my own with just small restircitions (must be from dell) and I ordered this one. Now I´m very happy to see that the temperatures arern´t as high as I expeceted. Did you noticed thermal throtteling at any point? Would you suggest to undervolt this laptop?

      What are the main applications you be using the computer for @REVolution1724? Also will you mostly be using this with a Docking station?

    • @REVolution1724
      @REVolution1724 2 года назад

      @@BsianTech The main applications are standard office tasks, coding, VM tasks and CAD (electronic and mechanical development). I would define myself as a PC Enthusist who tries to get the best out of the system. I use my Laptop like 80% with a workstation and 20% without. For me it is also very important to have a lightweight 14 inch system. Until now I had gotten 3 Dell Latitude 14 inch laptops from our IT department and I was very dissapointed about these systems. I frequently experienced Bluescreens with the first 2 systems and especially system freezes when I walked around with them. Later on they showed the RAM error code. It seems like the RAM slots weren´t very stable at these models. So I am very happy, that the RAM is soldered here.

      @@abdulhaseeb2377 tbh. i was were happy with this laptop until it started smoking because a screw came loose inside the laptop, causing a short circuit....
      A dell technican came to our IT department to "fix" this issue. He changed the motherboard but not the fan where all of the smoke went through. After the "repair" on high loads when the fans speed up the room smells like shit. 4 broken laptops and a broken docking station in 2 years is too much. Never had these issues with Lenovo.

    This is a really useful review. Thank you.
    Would you consider comparing the this generation of Precision keyboards, touchpads, finishes, etc to those things on the corresponding generation of ThinkPads?
    I’m always left wondering what the tradeoffs between those lineup-wide design choices are between Dell and Lenovo. Unlike the quantitative things like performance, temperature, etc those more qualitative attributes are difficult to compare without having samples from each lineup in hand to use, test, and compare.

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  2 года назад +2

      If you looking for the pure aesthetics of Precisions vs P series of Thinkpads, they are quite different. This is my opinion and from my experience. If you holding one in your hands the Precisions generally feel and look nicer with the Aluminum finish this is of course subjective but I think the thinkpads are more robust and durable in terms of scratches and drops. Keyboard for me is still the Thinkpad keyboard for the key travel and feel plus it has a little slight concave surface to each key rather being flat. Touchpad is nicer on the Precisions as the fingers glide more smoothly but the depression on the press on trackpads is mechanically feels better built, being more sturdy and bounce. I'm still more keen on the ports on the thinkpads though, while I like thin laptops I would gladly sacrifice a bit of thickness for useful ports like USB-A and especially HDMI port so I don't have to remember to bring an adapter. I hope that helps @alx9r.

      Aye the weight of the 7770 will be a lot to carry. I think its about the battery life is why it isn't in the Precision 5xxx. I was hoping the new Precision 7670 have the option but it doesn't as well.

      @@BsianTech with 97whr I feel no hesitation in mocking the engineers to their face that I can’t possible contemplate their stupidity of not putting the 120hz. It’s enough mAh. And users can tone it down to 60. Likewise, it’s beyond me why P1 runs at such high voltage and has battery that holds about paltry 5500mAh, and they are on high horse boasting about their 90whr. 🤦🏻‍♂️ enough space to land a plane and they couldn’t fit more Mah. Sheesh. Android phones are nearly there.

    Thanks for the in-depth reviews. As luck would have it, yesterday I received the same computer. It’s impressive, but I get a light clicking noise from the fan, like playing cards in bicycle spokes, which is annoying at low fan speeds. I haven’t opened it up to see if there is an obvious problems, but wondering if you get any similar noises from your fans. - Thanks.

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  2 года назад +1

      Hi @J D actually I did get that clicking noise from the fan, when I opened up the internals I also open up the left fan and found a extra piece of plastic not sure what it was and couldn't work out where it came from since I didn't see any broken bits. I thought this could be this unit has issues from transporting which I reported back to Dell and hence why I had to cut the review short as I returning the unit back to Dell for investigations. I don't add these possible isolated hardware fault issues to the review as I think it could be an isolated unit issue.

    Just 200 nits?

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  2 года назад +3

      I am taking a guess you are referring to the battery life test. If so, 200 nits was the recommended brightness to set the display, I had a chat with UL to find out the recommended settings who are the developer of PCmark and Procyon which the test are from. Also 200 nits should be able to reach from all laptops. Just thought will use the recommendation settings so you can refer to other reviews of other laptops that provide same test.
