  • Come along on the journey with us as we build the most beautiful chicken coop on our little backyard homestead for our lucky chickens, Gossie, Gertie, Freya, Delilah + Astrid.
Many of you have been following us with our new project through posts on my instagram account and through the #yourtubeshorts I have been posting over the last couple of months. (Yikes, has it been that long??)
Getting chickens has been a topic of discussion for a long while, and we are so happy that we decided this for a our family and started the build back at the end of March. With the amount of food we grow, and preserve for ourselves, it only made sense that this was the next step.
We joke throughout all the videos from when we started even until now (as we add and finish up the last little details...), how long is has taken us. Mind you, we have only been able to work on weekends between other priorities such as soccer for my daughter and other commitments. Life doesn't stop for a chicken coop...
I am happy that we are able to share this journey with you, all the positives and negatives, and even the arguments and bickering between Derreck and I. (Lets be honest, it DOES happen, no one is smiling the whole time with each other! haha) So, you get to see all of that, because we are real people.
This "Part 1" video took a while for me to edit and get out to you all. I am so sorry. Its hard to manage home life and building the coop, and putting in the garden and getting the yard ready all at the same time. Plus, trying to make money to live also...
But, its here now, and I'll try and break the whole build into 3 or 4 parts and I'll do my best to release a new part each week... but don't hold me to to it ;)
I hope you enjoy this video and all the ones to come.
If you haven't already watched any of my videos or shorts, please do, and give a like and subscribe to my channel, it would really mean so much to me!
    XO

Hahahaha!!! Isn’t my husband gross!?! 😂
We would have been at each other more if we were just winging it. Glad we got some plans - and made our own modifications from there.
We did have fun building it and learned a lot too. It’s what it’s all about!!
I hope you’re enjoying your day also!!
