- Debra Haaland made history as the first Native American woman on a major party ticket to run for Lieutenant Governor. She did not win that race but was later elected as the NM Democratic Party State Chair, becoming the first Native American State Party Chair in US history. Haaland sees a future where a community’s diversity is represented in their elected officials, and believes that you are the diversity that public service needs.
Debra Haaland is the Chairwoman of the Democratic Party of New Mexico. She has been a grassroots community organizer, businesswoman, and administrator and is highly active in the advocacy of Native American issues. She is an enrolled member of the Pueblo of Laguna. Debra ran for Lt. Governor of New Mexico in 2014, is the former Chairwoman of the Laguna Development Corporation Board of Directors, and the former Chairwoman of the Native American Democratic Caucus of NM. Debra holds a B.A. from UNM, and a J.D. from the UNM School of Law. She resides in Albuquerque where her daughter Somáh attends the University of New Mexico.

Did you look at yourself in the mirror?
@@rustinusti she looks like your mother, ... she looks like a man ... and her agenda has nothing in it, she just a puppet of some crooked men ...
@@MIKEDIAMONDZ you look like the turd i dropped this morning. Cope.
I'm native and let me just say she was a horrible choice.
Why!?
Please explain.
I’m guessing it’s like any politician, native or not, woman or not, you can’t satisfy everyone. She’s only human. She can’t be horrible. She can only be “not your candidate”. But that’s democracy, not everyone gets elected.
Au Ce, how about you running for office or just doing something to make America a better place for all of us immigrants and natives alike.
As 100 percent Diné. Love that she is in the White House, and speaking for us.
WILL YOU DENOUNCE ANTIFA?
Why would she denounce antifascism
Antifa means anti fascist. Both wrong with that.
Lol i sense sarcasm.
I tried to join Antifa but they have no website because it does not exist. It is a movement, not an organization. The fascists seem to think Antifa headquarters is in Beverly Hills on Rodeo Drive. Ignorance is a terrible thing combined with arrogance.
She is a game changer. I am so thankful that she is in the position she was in no telling how much b******* she had to go through to get there. I hope she goes down in history!!! I send love respect and healing vibes to the indigenous people of this land. May you get the healing you deserve 😶🌫️🥲🥲🥰🥰😭😭
She already has, being the first native woman to be elected into the highest office of the House of Congress, and Secretary of the BIA!
