Tommy is a lot like me. No care for random people he doesn't know but he cares about his friends and people just like me. This is what I respect.
R.I.P. to Tommy’s voice actor, he did a good job voicing Tommy in this game.
He's just one of few voice actors in gta games that have passed away. Like Burt Reynolds and Chris Penn for example.

I saw an interview of Ray Liotta, specifically a portion where he was asked about vice city. He said that he felt like all he was doing was cursing. That would seem weird considering all the dialogue tommy has during the story… but then I found a clip of Tommy dialogue in the open world, things like what he screams when fighting the police or crashing his car. So maybe he had entire workdays where he only yelled insults rather than having meaningful dialogue and that left him with a bad impression about his role in the game.

You know its not just about the impression, but i know that Ray asked for more $$$ from Rockstar for his work on Tommy but they refused..
@@alexvercetti And Ray just wanted more money. He didn't force Rockstar. He just requested them. But Rockstar denied him forcefully. The game became a huge success but still, they didn't give Ray enough money!!! Rockstar had this problem with Young Maylay as well who is the voice actor of the GOAT CJ.

Rockstar refuses to pay their voice actors.
Says a lot when Tommy cared for Lance and gave him numerous chances despite his true nature. If it were any other GTA protagonist, their judgment would be much harsher.
I hate Lance with passion, but Lance acted like a cool guy and Tommy thought of him as such until Death Row, then his true whiney nature became exposed and after playing GTA VCS we learn how much of a burden he was for Vic and how much he messed up. Lance is my most hated character in the series, but until I played Death Row for the first time I really didn't think he would be like that.

Hey Professional, another honorable thing Tommy did is respect the oath of omertà, he could of been a whistleblower and gone into witness protection but he didn’t do it because he was not 100% sure that Sonny actually betrayed him. Just like you said in another video you made, he would like wait a long time to get his revenge. Another thing that was honorable was that he got revenge for earnest Kelly.
To be fair, it's not really honorable, since Sonny is a scummy criminal. If Tommy snitched, he would have saved a lot of people, just like Tommy Angelo did.
Kelly reminded Tommy a lot of his Pops. He was the fatherly figure with advice and respect for Tommy. But Tommy protected those that were under his wing.
Lance Vance is very lucky that he has people looking out for him. If he was on his own, he won’t last long. Tommy and Vic were really his closest allies.
But he wasted that.

What I like about Tommy is that he's remain calm and cool, and plotting the plans perfectly before *"GOD DAMN"* Lance Vance ruined it whenever Lance being an *"Idiot & Reckless Mood"* and when Ken became an anxious and restless after what happened to *"BOTCHED DEAL"* and *"The Death of Vic Vance aka one of the Underrated GTA Protagonists"*
You know, I actually liked the characters Colonel Juan Garcia Cortez, he's chill, and dosen't get mad, but I wish we can see him more in the other gta games.
Before Vice City Stories came out, I also thought it was Tommy's yelling at him that he betrayed. But seeing what Lance did in the Vice City story convinced me that Tommy is actually a good boss, even by not showing his dominance over his gang members, and Lance in particular, shows he didn't act like other Mafia Boss.
Tommy is like Vito Corleone, he looks after his guys as long as they prove their worth by working hard.
Excellent video, man. A big shame that Ray Liotta passed away, he did such a tremendous job. R.I.P. Ray Liotta.

Honorable but naive. There is a reason why gang bosses tend to act like cold blooded. Lance is the prime example for that.
I'd say either Luis, CJ, Or Vic are the most honorable GTA characters
@@gaugemogle0779 Tommy respects his friends, workers and other people who don't screw with him. Tommy didn't betray Sonny and was loyal to him. But he finally decided when he found out Sonny was actually responsible behind his 15 years in prison.
although its minor, i liked how he didn't blame Earnest Kelly in Cap the Collector and told the guys to get him to the hospital

When I was a kid I too thought Tommy was though on Lance, but from my current point of view Tommy is the best possible gang leader anyone could wish to work with. He's the opposite of Tony Montana when it comes to personality: always cold-minded, and thinking how to get out of situations in a way that benefits not only him, but his people as well. He's a bad person, but honorable at least. And getting to know how Vic was in Vice City Stories (and his own experiences with betrayal too) one has to wonder the potential Tommy and Vic could have had if they worked together instead of Tommy and Lance. Good video.
If Vic and Tommy worked together, they could have done a lot of great things together. Heck, I could see Vic anoint Tommy as his successor if he intends to retire but Lance, being the resentful, ambitious and whiny jerk that he is, would go and assassinate them just to take over the Vance Family businesses.
@@michaelbandada9887 Lance would have NEVER killed Vic, or even arranged something that could get him killed. He's dumb and impulsive but he's not Claude lol. Although he would definitely be envious of Vic and Tommy if they were the ones running the business and he was a mere muscle or pilot. But if Vic was still alive and working in the organization he would also still be there to contain Lance's impulses and keep him on track, even if Lance despises that as he tells Tommy over the phone.
He saved Cortez' life. He saved Phil's life. He saved Lance's life. He helped save the entirety of Love Fist. He treated Earnest and his employees good. He's not a great person, obviously. But he's honorable and loyal.
And also Ken's life.
The ending of vice city showed who Tommy's real friend was Ken Rosenberg thats the morale story behind vice city who are your real friends

I would argue that the most honorable and good thing Tommy does happens after the story of Vice City. He sends Ken Rosenberg off to rehab and cuts ties, not only to save Ken's life from cocaine, but think about it, it's pretty much him offering Ken a second chance at life away from crime. Of course he wastes that in San Andreas, but still.
RIP Liotta my childhood was amazing while I was playing Vice City. I had a great memories.
first thing i thought when i heard ray died was that he just barely missed vice city's 20th year anniversary by 5 months. Really unfortunate but atleast his death wasn't terrible he passed away in his sleep from natural causes.
No he went to the Dominican republic and caught something. He died that night.

TBF, it's also plausible that the Psycho did in fact not survive the first encounter with Tommy, but rather had someone else rig the limo to explode in case he was killed...
He could've done it himself before his death.

But in GTA 3, he's missing his left arm and in VC, he blows away his right arm. Why couldn't Rockstar fix that mistake in the new version?
The funny thing is that most people probably wouldn't notice that mistake.
I mean another issue is not making Vic look like himself, even in the new version. They never care to fix issues
It was Grove Street Games that essentially remastered everything. They more or less just converted the preexisting games to HD. There was new features yes but no bug fixes.
I remember how saving love fist from the psycho to be one of the hardest yet honorable thing tommy ever did especially when the psycho puts a bomb in the limo that mission was hard

As you show, Tommy does do some good things but he is still mostly (self admittedly) a crazy, psychopathic s.o.b.

Say what you want about Tommy but he always stayed loyal to his friends and associates, even to Sonny Forelli, he never screwed them over. And he always treated elderly people he came across with lots of respect.

Tommy Vercetti. Isn’t too moral type of a bad guy. But he would try never commit to betraying the criminals he work with and consider some to be his friend outside spending 15 years in prison while some have backstabbed him. Obviously Lance and Sonny.
Another honorable mention could be helping the old guy in the print works. I forgot what what the old guys name was but I remember Tommy was really protective of him and even gave him a job making fake bills.

Killing Diaz. The guy was clearly addicted to cocaine in Vice City Stories and most likely was still addicted 2 years later and lost his mind. Tommy however didn't get addicted so he was level headed and only got angry when his gang members weren't pulling their weight
Nice Video. I'll be replaying Vice City again soon, I also have Vice City Stories (PS2 versions for both!) but I've not played that one before - somehow.
Only one tiny error in the video that I spotted. The Psycho doesn't have a Scottish accent. It's North of England. The first one sounds vaguely Macclesfield / Macc Ladds to me, but the Tape Message is definitely a Manchester accent. Listen to Chris Ecclestone as the 9th Doctor in Doctor Who. That's the accent of the Psycho.
Of course "everybody knows" that American actors can't do a British Accent :) , but this is one of those times that it's actually pretty good. So kudos to Hunter Platin.

Just a note as a British fan, the stalkers accent is not Scottish, its more northern English to me something like Yorkshire but definitely 100% not scottish, british accents are hard because there are literally hundreds, keep up the good work though 👍

RIP to Ray Liotta. Thank you for voicing Tommy Vercetti for us GTA fans and playing Henry Hill in Goodfellas. Goodfellas paved away for more mafia type movies in the 90s when godfather part 3 feel very odd from the original two godfather movies that came before. Even made the Mafia game series possible.
the best good thing Tommy did was sending Rosenberg to rehab and though he didn't get him back in his gang it was good for Ken that he later became working for Madd Dogg and CJ and that is a work seemingly outside of crime

Hey professional. Yesterday I was playing gta online riding around in my khanjali doing fun and stupid things when I saw a player in distress. He was getting spawn killed by two players so I decided to help him. He hopped in my khanjali and we spawn killed them for about 20 minutes. Afterwards he invited me to a party and laughed as he said those were innocent people and that he helped me kill them and I feels so bad so I think I’ll be taking a long break from gta online.

I think you may be wrong about the Hit the Courier mission. I vaguely remember there being some kind of trap you can lure them into if you just hit them and run, or maybe you have to let them land on the other island, I forget. It's been a long time since I played VC
