Are you gonna pick this up?
I'm in the us. But I picked one up. So I'll probably be picking one of these up to. Good stuff my guy. 👍👍
Is there a headphone pass through?
The US link for the Charing dock is wrong in the video description, just FYI.
@@tycotech thanks man!
Does it drain the Bobo battery first before the internal battery (basically giving a moment to be able to swap batteries without completely powering down)?
The main reason I mounted a battery on the back of the quest headset was to balance out that huge brick hanging off the front of my face. The extra power really was appreciated but I honestly didn't get into the extra power zone often and if I'm wearing a perfectly balanced lightweight headset I'm just going to put a battery in my pocket and run a wire. It's not like the wire's going to wrap around you when you turn around. You won't even notice it. It goes from your back pocket up to the headset and you won't even know it's there.
💯, for a balanceed headset a wire to external battery is better configuration
Agree no reason to add another weight and battery to the head, can also use some hand strap like for running etc..
Yup and you can get cell phone battery banks cheap like $10.
It depends how you play and where you live. For most of the time the temperature where I live is around 31 to 40 degrees celsius... so, very hot and I play for the majority of the time with only my swimming trunks... not easy to use with a cable (sweat sticking to it)...
agree and the wire i put inside my shirt ggwp
Great solution Sebastian. Thank you for testing it out for us and sharing your experience and opinion.
I appreciate what you do, and wanted to let you know it was you who helped me decide it was the right time to dive into VR two years ago.
Hi! I am so happy to read this!!!
Where would we be without BoboVR... this is a great solution! Absolutely love it. I have one for my Quest2 and will see if the battery life on my Pico4, once I have it, will be sufficient... if not... BoboVR is the answer... Thanks for the update!
Hey quick question: if you already had the quest 2, how do you justify buying the Pico 4. Do you still use your quest or have you switched completely?
You can just put a power bank in your back pocket & use a long type C wire (like the one from Quest1) strapped to move along the headset towards the backside so that it doesn't create any chance of wire entanglement while playing. Just suggesting - since this doesn't look sturdy & why increase the weight on your head (not to mention imbalance the pico4) for a light headset like this ( whose lightness is one of it's usp).
Same here. I have a 12,000mah powerbank I can keep in my pocket and run a usb cable, to the headset. Much, much cheaper and I won't have to buy anything new when the Pico 4 arrives. And it won't mess up the balance of the Pico.
yep, a 10k pack is about £30, sticking batteries on your head is ridiculous.
I do the same👍
Great review! I definitely want this setup.
I went to Yodobashi Camera in Shinjuku Japan today. I played around with Pico 4 demo kit. screen is way clear and POV is surprisingly big. sound way better than Quest 2. powered IPD adjustment. controllers feel really good. the color pass thru is real nice. about 20 games in the store now. you have to manually enable the 90 megahertz refresh rate in the advanced settings on the headset. Built-in video capture function is a cool feature. . really small and light headset .
Yes, cool that you can try it in Japan! It will be a successful headset for sure.
@@mixedrealityTV I hope so. I had the opportunity to talk about the Pico 4 at last month's Tokyo Game Show with the business development director of Pico Japan. They were there promoting the Pico 3 link. He was very surprised that I was showing him pictures from the Chinese website about the up-and-coming announcement for the Pico 4 the following week after the exhibition. Another interesting thing is that the same shop I tested the Pico 4 at they had the Pico 3 link just a week before in the same spot.
just ordered..... will also fit my Quest 2 :-))))
BoboVR even upgraded it during production: i have 2 of them (one for the Quest, the other for the Quest 2) and the first version had velcro on both the dock and the straps, while the new one has the 3M adhesive pads.
Okay!
@@mixedrealityTV Yeah, they really listen to user feedback... like they added the rubber padding to some of the headstraps after some if the users talking about it.
Looks like it might also work for meta quest pro. Certainly going to try it when the headset arrives in 10 days. Loving life. Thanks so much for the video.
Battery problem solved. Will be her today from amazon. Now all i need is the head set so i can install it LOL. Week and a half more to wait.
I can't wait to get the Pico 4 and this battery dock
incredible. this is what I'm dying for.
Nice nice. This was one of my 2 main draw backs for the Pico 4. Not knowing if it had the external batteries like the Quest models do.
The other one is knowing how well it functions in Canada like if there's region locking crap going on.
Would be nice if the cable plugged in both ends (on the battery dock as well as the headset). If it frays you can't just replace the cable easily. Plus, you can't adjust the length.
I think 2 hours might be just a bit too short for my longer VR sessions with the regular battery life of the Pico 4, so having a solution for it is nice. I'm buying one as a back up, but I don't think I'll hook it up all the time. Just when I need to since most of the time I likely won't be able to drain the battery life before putting it aside and charging it. But it's nice to have when playing for a longer session especially something in multiplayer.
Yep, good idea. Only when you know: this is gonna be a 4 hour session! :)
A great solution but I am considering the Pico 4 for the lighter weight than my Quest 2 with elite battery strap. So , I will initially try a large rechargeable battery and run a cable to the headset! Thanks for the links and if I do decide to get one I will use it.
Great!
Hey MRTV, I've just ordered this with the two pack batteries aswell, do you also think this could double as a Steam Deck battery pack too?
I'm ready to purchase my 1st vr and with so many available I'm not sure which to go with . what would you all recommend ?
Should i wait for quest 3 or buy now pico 4
A mod I would be interested in is to take the part of the Bobovr that sit on the forehead, and somehow, attach it to the Pico 4 so we end up with 0 pressure on the face.
We then could change the face mask for something like the light blocker of the PSVR2.
Is there a way to use this and also be connected via USB cable to my computer for direct PV/VR use?
Great video and great idea!
Thanks!
You a long with the rest of the VR YT community will be responsible for this headset getting released in the US. I can't wait to get one! You do great work man.
Thanks so much!
Have and love the BoBoVR M2 pro the dock and 3 batteries. Unlimited playtime!
Exactly!! It is such a great accessory!
what happens if you want to change the headstrap while you're wearing it? i mean bobo battery will move up more if you set it for smaller heads
Velcro sounds pretty optimal, if not hot glue since that can often be removed later.
Yohhh, I was was already settling on strapping a small battery pack to my wrist for the quest pro, now I’m jus gonna get this when I get it aga
YES!
Design and print cable management for the headset, put battery in pocket, buy a nice cable and you can rock much more battery life for the money. Sure, won't look as neat, but when you consider the sheer number of accessories you end up wanting it gets expensive fast (going to look up prescription lenses)
I hope they make something similar for the Quest Pro if it's not aleady compatible.
This sounds like a good option but what about if you need to use headphones? Would be great if you can try some sort of splitter for both option
I will show you that solution really soon!
Where can you buy a VR Headset holder like you have?
Wont this effect the original battery though in a negative way since it will charge and discharge the battery at the same time? like when I play I put it on charge when it goes down to 20% since empty the battery a 100% is not good for the battery as I understand it. It decreases the batteries lifetime over all? So wont charging it while using it do the same? effect the batteries lifetime?
I have one and was going to use it for the pico 4
Nice!
please make a video with gunstock to PICO 4, i am very interested tks!
Good idea!
Thank you! Cheers!
It has a Wi-Fi accessory, the VR Air Bridge DWA-F18 that I would really like to know if it works on Pico.
Hi Sebastian, the Bobo-VR accu pack has an USB-port on top. I know it's not meant for this, but ... is it maybe possible to use an USB-stick on this accu port to connect to the Pico ? Would eliminate the need to use an USB-hub when using a USB-stick and the accu pack at the same time.
Are any Elite Straps compatible with the Pico 4 yet?
How would you address the complaints about the headset face gasket (and the head strap) being more uncomfortable to wear vs the Quest 2? Without purchasing both headsets, it is difficult to judge.
You can get third party gaskets which I definitely needed. The default Pico foam hurt my forehead very quickly. I bought a AMVR leather replacement and it's wayyy better. No sore head.
Why not use the BOBOVR M2 instead? Or is it not compatible or something
Woah its cool, its awesome looking
It is!
I have these ,and indeed they are really good investment, good video.
Yes, thse are GREAT!
PRO TIP: Pull off the two unnecessary Velcro straps and use them to secure the cable to the head strap 😊👍🏻
My BoboVR Dock when attached to the back of my Pico just flops around all over the place. If I lower my head it just flops over the back of the top of my head. I don't know if the strap is terrible or if I'm just doing something wrong.
I cannot wait for Pico 4 to come to the US. I already have the BoboVr batteries just need the dock for the Pico 4. I have the Oculus head strap.
Great! It will come at one point in time!
How secure is the magnet, let's say I'm playing pistol whip and am actively and swiftly doing squats and bends and flicks all over the place, how difficult is it for the battery to just go flying?
It is extremely secure, no problems whatsoever!
looks awesome but what you failed to mention is how much longer is the gameplay with 1 of these batterys installed. i would love to know b4 considering buying one
2 hours, give or take. Depends on what you're playing.
Well...infinite battery power, since you just hot-swap them out!
Guys is possible find mix adapter Tipe-C to use headphone and cabe to recharge in pico 4??
Yes, I will show in a video soon!
4:05 Where do I buy those adhesive dots?
Hi Sebastian , did you try , how much extra time you gain with a battery, if you have only one?
Ooh, i have not. But it has the same capacity like the headset itself, so probably another 2h.
Wow, I have a friend in China who got the Pico 4 last week. Uses link cable to play, always complains about battery life and needs to hop off after a couple hours. I'm gnna see if he can get this and maybe get this for myself...do you think it'll fit a Kiwi elite strap for quest 2??
He could buy it in China for sure.
man, i cant believe you didnt mention how long each battery will last... and how does it affect the current battery? is it a power bank to the orignial battery correct? and how do you know that the battery of he bobo is about to expire? do you have to guess it by how long it was on? or does it have a way to view it inside the device?
Infinite Battery Life! It is literally in the title of this video! That is because you can just hot-swap the batteries!
@@mixedrealityTV yes but the question is how long each battery pack lasts...
@@andrekling Buddy, the answer is it lasts long enough to charge the other battery. Also look at the product page.
@@cenciende9401 my comment was made 6 months ago, the box was not released yet as it was a preview video of an upcoming product back than...
Can I use a powerbank to plug and play? If so any recommendations
Yes you can. But really, the BoboVR is my recommendation.
Oooh is something like this available for Quest2?
yes that's where the thing started. check out "Bobo VR m2 pro" (or m1 if you don't like halo straps)
Can you use the boboVR batteries as powerbank for your phone? Haven't really found an answer, but if it could it would be pretty big brain
Should work, there is a usb-c plug that could plug into your android phone.
nice i was thinking about that problem and their is already an anwser.
Now i hope that some company will come with batteries for the controller i dont understand the choice of old batteries take of the support change 4 battery per controller put it in a charger if its rechargeable and come back in game... why not a battery exchangable or just an inter batter with usb charger like before
You can just go for rechargeable batteries for the controllers!
@@mixedrealityTV Yeah i know what i say is taht taking it out and put it in is a boring process taking the block out take every empty batterie out of the block and put the new one in.
I'm a photographer i have 4 cobra flash that take 4 batteries each so when i change all the batteries its a long prosses and i dream to have a one block battery like on my camera
When i've seen the batterie compartiment that ou can take out from the controler i've think that it can be great if it can be replace by a one block battery that you can easely change in the same way i change the battery of my camera or just that have a ubs c input tou charge without taking it out of the controler making the controler easy to charge like an index or a valve one or put it on a dock
its somthing that have been for long time an argument betweeen xbox controler that have normal batteries (and their is one block batteries that) and playstation that have internal batterie
Or from the wii at start it was normal batteries too but after that their was rechargeable one block batterie with docks that was coming from alternative accessoires compagnie and its what i hope here
after that i maybe didn't see it well and have the wrong impression of this part
Sorry maybe i can not make myself clear because in french we have two words for normal batteries non rechargeable or rechargeable and one block batterie and didnt find a goodway to express it
So, unlike the Q2 Elite strap with battery, do you only get the capacity of the external battery when it is plugged in? Sorry but YT reviews always seem to be a bit lack of some info sometimes, like Link cable PCVR.
This plugs into the standard USB-C and therefore charges the built-in battery.
@@mixedrealityTV Can this charge and play? Which battery gets used first? After either battery is drained, do you still have the capacity of the remaining battery? I'm sure that these are things that you'll discover after playing with this a little more. Thanks mate and cheers.
I bought the Pico 4 because it is lighter than the Quest 2, and the last thing I am going to do is add weight to the back. I do appreciate the information though. If I were a serious gamer then this would be a must-have.
Agreed!
Is the BoboVR battery with the dock hot swappable mid game without having to stop the game? Sorry ...unclear from this review
How can we keep Pico 4 charged when using a link cable?
I also thought about it and also thought I should also add a big bag of potatoes on the back.
But I changed my mind... I simply used the cheapest and lightest and flattest powerbank I could find at Action (2 euros) and a pair of self adessive velcro strap (I actually had a set of 12 pairs for 2 euros from same store) and just attached the small battery to the wheelknob in the back. No worries about the glue from the velcro... comes off with isopropyl alcohol Also I use a 20cm long USB cable from Aliexpress. This way the weight is kept to minimum as Pico is not really well fitted for European faces and every little weight change matters. And also it costs pennies...
Sure... it doesn't have the satisfying magnetic clack... just a little annoying hassle to strip the battery off and change it with a new one but... pfff. 5 euros? with the USB cable...
im looking for a pcvr headset and im not sure if i should go for the more reliable quest 2, or the new pico 4, could someone help?
thanks
Why more reliable? With Virtual Desktop you have the best wireless streaming app here on the 2 year newer hardware.
The idea is not bad. But I will look for an option where the extra battery is attached to the arm or waist. But don't add more weight to the head.
Okay!
Hi Mr. Ang, have you tested whether adding this battery can perform charging WHILE PLAYING? (I.e., increase built-in battery percentage while playing). One China review mentioned that Pico 4 only accepted 20W charging so even you plugin an wired high power charger, it cannot stop the built-in battery power drain and then eventually force shutdown. He said no way to get infinity play time. Can you help to check whether this battery can charge? Or just can slow down the drain? Thanks.
Also, any solution to use Type-C headphone at the same time?
I will do more longer term testing for sure.
@@mixedrealityTV Thanks a lot! From specs of XR2, I believe it should support Quick Charge 3.0. Thanks man!
@@mixedrealityTV Hi MRTV, I knew Mr. Ang can speak in Mandarin and has excellent relationship with Pico. Is it possible to help ask two questions? 1) Can Pico assist Virtual Desktop to also launch in China app store? (by now only China app store will not has VD); 2) Will Pico 4 has AWS or SSW in both PC streaming and Pico native game (like Green Hell on Quest 2). Thanks a lot!
Pico 4 launches 18th of october in Norway. Shall I get one to test?
No harm in testing it yourself!
Well, we have the solution to the Quest Pro battery life. Now we need some arm straps and special connectors, and we can power the controllers and extend the life for another hour to almost last as long as a pico 4 or quest 2.
Can the battery be swapped out while playing without the gameplay shutting off? Does it also charge the internal battery of the headset while the external battery is plugged in?
Yes, you can hot swap it because it just charges the main battery!
the battery life is probably due to the higher res there fore using more power then the quest 2, super excited for the pico 4 to ship to the US
Pancakes need more brightness than fresnel.
This review needs to be updated by new set from BoboVR dedicated for Pico 4 (BD2-P4). :)
Now all they have to do is rip out the current USB tech and put proper display port connectivity for tethered mode for the best visual and performance quality for PC Tethered games like MS Flight Sim etc etc.
i'm actually surprised newer VR headset models didn't just implement this magnetic battery system. did BoboVR patent it or something?
I have no idea, but it is a genius idea for sure!
It could be a part of business and economy philosophy of coexistence. By creating room for third party items you cut costs and make your products more attractive but also invite third party manufacturers to improve the product experience and share the consumer's money with them. It's a win/win since you don't have to worry about designing accessories/perfect product package/experience and other smaller companies can thrive.
Higher resolution higher cpu clock. Colored passthrue camera. Everything that consumes more battery.thats why it has higher capacity battery that last similar to quest 2
Seems like it would be difficult to tighten the strap after adding that dock in the back
You can still do it, no problem since the batter is not fixed onto the back.
all its missing really is a halo strap, but after owning this headset it doesn't seem like the strap is removable at all
I wish BoBo could make a DP connection for the 4 ;)
YES!!!
Very cool and $39 is a acceptable price. First I need a Pico4 :)
Hopefully you will have one soon!
@@mixedrealityTV expected in the mail 26th October they are saying. So not too long :D
Does the Pico 4 connect to Steam VR when connected through usb?
Yes, you can do it like that!
Bring the Pico 4 in U.S and im buying along with Bobo
It should happen at one point in time!
I love Bobo! I have the M2 Pro for my Q2 and it is great! It’s awesome that they already have a solution that works with the Pico 4. I’ll just sit here in the US and wait for a North America release of the Pico 4. 😂
yeah!
Does it charge while playing or does it just slow down the rate of discharge? How much extra time do you get per battery? Good to know about this solution but incomplete review in my opinion.
Hey, the point is that you got infinite power, since you just exchange the empty batteries with new ones! So these are powerful enough to actually charge the device. Is has the same capacity as the original, so probably about could double it in best circumstance.
A battery on top of the battety??
Lol 🤣
Yo dawg!
@@chekote I heard you like batteries
Oh yes, MRTV can do it!
👍🏻 shouldn’t it work also with the vive htc wireless?
I mean connecting to the htc vive battery
Hmm...never tried!
Such a good channel!!!
Thanx for your great job keeping us informed!
Oh, you are so welcome!
I will just use my Anker powerbank with Velcro straps. Much cheaper and universal solution for any standalone VR.
yep, that will work for sure as well! :)
yeah screw that, all that added weight no matter how small will eventually add up. However I found a better alternative. Use a Pocket battery bank with an L shape USB C Cord. you'll be able to put the power bank in your pocket and the cord will be long enough to go from your pocket to the headset with enough snag for you to be able to move around freely but not long to get in your way...
Oh you evil genius! You showed them! :)
This looks a bit clumsy and adds extra weight to the Pico 4 when the point is its supposed to be lighter for longer sessions. I am sticking with power banks in my pocket.
This video comes to early, we still have to try the headset to realise if battery is a problem or not. But once I have it I will think about it
I have tried it and I came to the conclusion it is better this way. When you make the decision to buy it, it will be sold out. Because of this video. ;)
@@mixedrealityTV Yes but not everyone has the privilege to try it before the official launch, and your experience will not be the same for everybody.
I was just saying imo this type of video make more sense after the launch, and more people would use you link then, but because the video is so early people might forget to use your link when they decide to buy the product.
How much time does a battery last?
About 2h. But it is all about hot-swapping them out!
@@mixedrealityTV Thanks!
Is there any issues in buying the chinese version ?
I have no idea about that.
You used the same link for both USA Amazon links
thanks!!!
nice
Seba... what about MS FLIGHT SIMULATOR and Pico 4 test.... you promises that... :)
Yes, I will check it out! So many thinks to do!
Yo @MRTV - MIXED REALITY TV We're still waiting for a PICO4 Vs Valve Index Showdown :D
oh well...the Pico 4 looks so much better!!! But audio is better on Index. But the audio is pretty nice on the Pico 4 though!
@@mixedrealityTV This is why we need a head to head battle :) I'm so tempted to jump over from the index
I'm afraid of buying a Pico4 because it will be my first VR headset, as it has 72 IDP, but my question is, Can't I play while charging?
Yes, you can play while charging! And it has a real ipd adjustment, so you can set it to fit your ipd!
Pico 4 or HP reverb G2v2?
Well, Pico 4 has better lenses, wireless and better tracking...! But in direct comparison, the uncompressed image of the G2 still wins!
@@mixedrealityTV thanks for the reply. I will be using it mostly for MSFS 2020🛩️
I seriously consider upgrading from quest2 to Pico4
It makes sense, it is the 2 year newer hardware.
upgrade to the quest pro, much better
