Like Bayie in the Yoruba cosmology the Iyami, Aje, or the Mothers are also neutral forces that are shaped by the intent of the user. Thank you for challenging us towards developing a more positive view of our ancestry.
For a clearer understanding about Obayi/Obeah, could you please answer these? 1. Are you saying that it is possible to be "initiated" into Obayi and that it can be fully awakened by the Ancestors and the Obosom without a formal initiation and human teacher? 2. Do you initiate the melenated into Obayi? 3. Do you do Ancestral root readings? 4. Can you advise any teachers, videos or informational sources that I can can learn more about Obayi and Obeah, please? thank you.
Greetings. Great questions. I’ll try and respond in order. Since (potentially) have different ideas about initiation, I’ll put that to the side to say anyone can learn spells and ritualistic practices but not everyone can be born with (or granted) the power to achieve the goals of said spells, rituals, etc. And for those persons a human "teacher" is helpful but not required. Spiritual forces and ancestral figures can--and have taught yours truly--teach. Obayi/Obeah requires a discussion. See my "Akan Diaspora" (or Akan Pioneers, 2nd ed.) for a discussion of Obayi/Obeah. I am not sure what a "roots reading" is, though I've heard of it. But I do consultations that cover any and everything. For resources, see the about also "Obeah, Orisa, and Religious Identity in Trinidad," Volumes 1 & 2; Diane Stewart, "Three Eyes for the Journey: African Dimensions of the Jamaican Religious Experience"; "Obeah and Other Powers: The Politics of Caribbean Religion and Healing," among others.

Ancestors aren't created in as much as they are evolutionary stages in becoming/being a human. One has to have had a human experience--lived a human life--to become an ancestor, but be mindful not all "dead" or deceased people are ancestors, the same way not all old people are elders.
How can a parent know their child is sick or being bullied at school or something isn’t right while said parent is not where the child is? The relation as well as connection between parent and child is the relation between ancestors and human family members. Ancestral spirits have the advantage of being unbound by time, space or place and so they can be present and know in ways impossible to humans. Lastly “dead ancestors” is an oxymoron.
Exactly. Not logical at all. Natives used to practice spiritualism, until the white colonists brought their religion to Africa and called the African spiritualist practice witchcraft, just to convert them to their religions. In short, witchcraft is a European product that was exported to Africa.

You're more than welcome. Stay well.
Excellent. Thank you! Would love an episode on preventing ill intention, also references if you have of books on ancestor connections. Thank you!🙌🏾
That's a great idea. We'll work on that. Here's one decent book: African Spirituality: On Becoming Ancestors by Anthony Ephirim-Donkor.

Nice one....but who created your ancestors?

How did or who gave our ancestors power?
Have you first hand seen miracles regarding these practices? Thanks
Greetings. I am not sure I would call them miracles, but I have seen rituals and practices associated with "witchcraft."
how do you spell *bayi*? are there any publications on this?
It can be spelt "bayi" or "bayie." See Our Way in This Part of the World (www.dukeupress.edu/our-own-way-in-this-part-of-the-world)

Is there a difference between Obeah and Obayi or are they the same?
Yes, but see my Akan Diaspora book, especially the chapter on the British Caribbean for a fuller discussion.

Yep!
Witchcraft.....European Negative Propaganda about Afrikans.
Indeed.
So is there not a left hand path of witchcraft that demands human sacrifice for retain magic or blessings. Y’all can atleast be honest.
Is the hunting and killing of albinos also European propaganda?
I love you all
Appreciative!
How can our dead ancestors know who is trying to harm us? That just doesn't sound logical!!!!

That's one way to look at it.
I heard something about black magic !
Yep!
Nobody but you claimed that Europeans didn’t have a history of witchcraft. Educate yourself
You may want to re-view the video, if you actually watch, around timstamp 3:00 to 3:20 (and points thereafter). No such claim was made.
