Obasanjo: Carter's Role in Israel-Egypt Peace Deal Was Pivotal

President Jimmy Carter was the first U.S. President to visit Africa officially, including Nigeria. I have fond memories of him, both personally and in his official capacity. When the U.S. Embassy was occupied in Iran, he opted for diplomacy over aggression. Although this approach ultimately cost him a second term, it exemplified his commitment to subtle democracy during his administration.
