I am a congenital klutz and pretty impractical. I love these small tips and tricks. They have gotten me over the hump in my upholstering projects. THANX.
Thank you for the tips, very helpful. I'm going to try the steam and pin method for my unsightly wrinkles. Sure, it might hurt a bit, but if it works as good as it did on these cushions, I should look 20 years younger in no time!
I have a puzzle for you: I'm building a prototype loudspeaker which calls for the front panel ( 1" thick X 41" tall X 9 " wide ) to be covered in a thin fabric. My question, is How do I get the corners to conform to the rectangular shape of the wood without excess material? There is no room behind this panel to accommodate bunching, -and was considering just spray adhesive and cutting the material precisely at the corners. -The material will be approx.1/8" fabric-backed leather. Thank You! :)
There's a teflon spray that can be applied and a brand name product called "Scotch Guard" also works well. Try the product first on an inconspicuous area to make certain there's no adverse reaction to the fabric
Just learning .. Thanks for the wonderful tips.. Doing a bucket chair in zebra fur.. first time ...Will post a pic of the end results.. for constructive criticism..
Vinyl will become more pliable and easier to work with in a warm enviroment, so try placing the chair in a sunny window for a bit and see what happens. Chances are the vinyl will soften enough to make pleating the corners easier
Please HELP! I am trying to reupholster 6 dining room chairs using Vinyl. I am having trouble stapling the corners. The Vinyl is so bulky that I cannot make a small pleat. Is there a better way to fold the corners?
I have been unable to find schematics showing how to remove the seat (with mechanism attached) to reupholster a LaZboy recliner chair. Can you help me Please.
This is a pretty common issue, especially with antiques. Try giving the screw a shot of WD40 and see what happens. Quite often the lubricant will do the trick. Good luck!
I can't believe you're still making your bias tape that way,: it's wasting a lot of fabric. Go to some quilting sites where you'll learn to make 200" out of half a square yard of 45" fabric. For longer bindings use larger pieces.
