    So this is very much not a video to be taken super seriously. I just needed to make something while we were away for a week to appease the beast that is You Tube. Regular service will return this week. But anyway, let me know what games you recommend for travel in the comments below.

    - Hive
    - any of the button shy wallet games
    - Radlands
    - Deep Sea Adventure
    - Scout
    - Sea Salt & Paper
    - Skull
    - Sushi Go

    Thanks for pulling this together. We have enjoyed Parks (it is beautiful), Sushi Go, Scout (simple, yet challenging), Fluxx Firefly (over 100 plays now), Cockroach poker (really fun with the kids), Lotus (another beautiful game).

    I've got a repurposed giveaway toiletries kit snagged from first or business class leftovers on an intercontinental flight which now holds unboxed two two-player card games: Schotten Totten and Hanamikoji. Both are great and fit well on a cafe table. When I used to travel more that little kit lived in my suitcase rather than with the boardgames so I'd never forget to pack it.

    I always travel with my bag of Hive Pocket!

    I have two small games I like to take with me: Sagrada (repacked into smaller box from one of Dixit expansions) and Skulls of Sedlec.

    • @darbyl3872
      @darbyl3872 8 месяцев назад +1

      The Expansion Pack for SOS, adds 18 cards, so three or four players can build a full-size stack. I highly recommend it (Champions, Zealots, and Merchants).

    • @MunchhausenPL
      @MunchhausenPL 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@darbyl3872 Polish edition incluedes two expansions in the base box (Executioners and Monstrance), so we can play it solo or with fourth player. Merchants looks fun, but sadly small games don't sell well in Poland, so we won't get more expansions :/

    So happy to see Sherlock Holmes on your list. I took it on a family tour to the US and we (Myself , wife and two teens) played it through the vacation: on picknick tables, hotels rooms, train rides and even on the grass in central park. such great memories!
    I would also recommend grabbing your favorite roll and write (Railroad inc., welcome to, Ganz Schon clever...) they are all very portable and easy to play in sub-optimal places.
    Another interesting choice is Timeline. we actually played it with complete strangers and made new friends with it, it is a game everybody can immediately understand and enjoy.

    For our recent holiday I packed one board game box full of small games and put it in my luggage. I used the My City box because I don't care too much if it gets damaged being a legacy game and all that and it is pretty empty. Into that I packed components for Age of War, For Sale, Crossing, Love Letter, Sprawlopolis, Pacific Ocean (a new KS arrival), two decks of Rolling Realms, a pack of 500 cards with rules for regicide, the full Beer and Bread box and of course the components for 2 players of my city with all the envelopes to unlock. That gave me a decent amount of variety for simple family games (4-6 players) and also gaming with my wife in the evenings.

    My partner and I always take a few two player games like Onitama and Radlads quick to set-up and play a few games. We took Onitama to the pub on our last trip and ended up having the bartender close the bar so he could hang around and play with us.

    Dungeon Mayhem, a great game and very portable. All of the family loves it and it doesn't take long to play either. Great for a waiting in an airport or a playing at a table in a pub.

    Lost Cities has gone on every trip over the last 10 years. My wife and I don't even mention it beforehand; magically, it somehow appears in the suitcase every time.

    We've found a second hand copy of Hey That's My Fish a little while back, which is a nice small game I would just chuck into a bag when ever we travel around. I generally find it a very daunting task to engage family on these type of trips with board games. So tend to takes games that me and my wife like.

    Great video! I always enjoy your content.
    These days, my go-to travel games are "Fantasy Realms" and "Long Shot: The Dice Game." Fantasy Realms is rather addictive and invites replays, despite the simple rules. It also plays up to six and is only a deck of cards. Long Shot is a hoot. Nearly every group I've taught it to ends up standing around and cheering on the final rolls of the game. It plays up to eight and has a box that in easily portable.

    Just got back from a week's camping. I had Hive Pocket, Tak, Regicide, a 500 deck, the Labyrinth card game, Scrimish, and Hollywood 1947 because my girls love it.

    For me size and replayability are key. I'll only take a big box game if I know we will play it a lot. Otherwise I take stuff like fluxx, exploding kittens, 7 wonders duel, ganz schon clever, draftosaurus, a small box version of splendor I have and a deck of cards. Can fit them all in a small travel bag and they don't weigh much.

    A recco for you - Scenic cellars (in Taupo) if you want some wine. They had a super selection when we visited, and it looks like they've branched out into food/deli stuff since.

    Tend to just bring stuff on car trips to our family lakehouse. I have less to do up there, so any games are welcome to go up from Clans of Caledonia, to Castles of Madking Ludwig, and as small as Maquis. I casually get back to a ttrpg (solo journal style) system I backed called Collostle up at the lake also.
    For plane trips like my ski trip to Jackson Hole, I brought maquis, and not much else. I tend to use my 3ds more than anything winding down before bed, or on the plane. However I backed Buttons and Bows with the Cephalofair Grand Festival, so I will likely travel with it also.

    Floriferous and Tortuga 1667 are two that come to mind. Any small card game is an option, like Arboretum, Startups, Mottainai, or Dahlias.

    Thanks for sharing your ideas! I find Azul Mini a great travel game. In my opinion, you don’t even need the original box version as I just use this one. In the USA it’s very affordable, less than $20. I also have a small Catan travel edition that I keep in our RV. That has been good over the years. Not sure if it’s still available.

    Games in small footprint boxes I'd take with me are:
    - Onitama (including "Senseis' Path)
    - Graverobbers from Outer Space (including Skippys' Revenge)
    - Kahuna
    - Druidenwalzer
    And:
    - Tiny Epic Quest
    - Tiny Epic Pirates
    Especially the "Tiny Epic"- Series turned out to be a big Sleeper Hit, since Gamelyn Games really managed to squeeze a classic and good (not perfect) big board experience into a small, 4x12x18 cm sized box: cards, tokens, meeples and map, and all - for a surprisingly low price, too. Very recommendable as travel games - and probably something you could take a look into as well, in the future.

    What a gorgeous view! Hope you’re having an amazing trip! Great list too :D
    My favorites are also small portable ones that are quick to play and teach. Love Letter, For Northwood, Spicy, Sea Salt and Paper, and Grove are some of my favorites. Each comes in a very small deck box and they’re either solo or for larger groups. For “larger” games Cascadia is always a hit. Lastly, 20 Strong I think will become a go to soon. Very small package but still a deep and engaging solo game with lots of variability.

    Scout gets my vote for being one of the smallest boxes of all time and an awesome game to boot. Does need a table but not a big one

    Revolver Noir! It’s a 2 player, hidden movement, button shy game that you can play without a table. Games also can vary in length wildly from 5 minutes to 30 which normally is bad, but if you’re waiting in line, it’s absolutely perfect!

  • @a-c-m

    Great list ! My travel game of choice is actually 7 Wonders Duel. You can pack both expansions into the core box (the Folded Spaces insert is super helpful for that) so you can get some awesome gaming power into a small box. It doesn’t need lots of table space and if you feel like it you can add both expansions for a more complex gaming experience. And I added the print & play solo version cards to it as well, so the solo is also covered !
    And Floriferous is also a wonderful travel game if you need something for up to 4 players.

    Very happy to see Deep Space D-6 on your list. I was lucky enough to find a second hand copy locally a summer or two ago, and have enjoyed it immensely. That said, I haven’t played solo games in ages, so it needs to get tabled again soon.

    I like to bring MicroMacro but usually without the box - map in a folder and cards in a card box.

  • @LameryLame
    @LameryLame 8 месяцев назад +2

    Since i discovered the game "Top 10", i take it with me almost everytime when i go out. Its as simple as a game can get, and the amounts of fun it provides is incredible.
    You can play it with anyone, with your grandparents on a family gathering, with your colleagues as part of a teambuilding and also with heavy gamers who like to overthink.
    I have played it with like 100 different people this year and usually at least 1 person from the group decided to buy it right after :D

    We usually take a small shoe box packed with games if we fly abroad; it's become an art to squeeze all the bits in! Star Realms, Tiny Epic Galaxies (plus expansion), Village Green, Micro Brew. I have often taken 'bigger' games on holiday (without the box). Some games compress very well, such as Castles of Burgundy - just an A4 wallet plus a couple of small bags of tokens & dice.
