The interview was great and refreshing to see a person I’ve admired turn out to be so chill. But I’d specifically like to mention the ending credits, they were very creative. Keep the dubutant editor and ofc the lovely tehreem/upcoming producer.
Somehow Rajit Kapur and Rajat Kapoor are two actors who had similar journey of doing classy sophisticated character on screen and their performances stayed with me
It's good to see Rajit Kapoor on your show he has entertained us with his portrayal of Byomkesh bakshi in our childhood but please also invite these Indie actors and directors such as :- Naseeruddin shah and Ratna Pathak Shah Rajat Kapoor Nandita das Tannistha Chatterjee Rahul bose Radhika apte Tillotma Shome Manav kaul Adil Hussain Shashank arora Sanjay Mishra Rahul Bhat Tigmanshu Dhulia Vinay Pathak Neeraj Kabi Arjun Mathur Anand tiwari Vir Das KK Menon Ranveer Shorey last but not least Rajkumar Rao
This isn't just a interview but a reminder to appreciate the great underrated actors of our industry!!Being a Shyam Benegal lead is a big thing always knew him only for Raazi, now for much more!!Thanks Samdish and as usual to Woodland!!❤
Have such fond memories of watching Byomkesh Bakshi on Doordarshan as a kid. He pulled off the Bengali bhadralok role with such conviction that for the longest time I could not fathom that he is actually a Punjabi guy !
Look at the set. Cinema is definitely an Art but RUclips video can also be. Lighting is almost perfect, the shadows, the highlights and the mid tones... Just wow! It's like looking at an oil painting. Nothing left to say about the interview and the 'Byomakesh' itself as both are perfect..... just speechless.
I still watch Byomkesh Bakshi every year on youtube😂.. I just love Rajit Kapoor and Byomkesh Bakshi... The soundtrack and mystery of the show is phenomenal..
Thanks for bringing one of my fav actors, on screen with such candit conversation, The conversation makes him depict a simple man contrasting it with so many characters he has given life to
what a great personality!! I loved the clarity of his thoughts, second half of the interview was much more satisfying. Thanks Samadish for bringing this person out so naturally. ♥️
once he said - "You may not always agree with the choices that a character makes when you are playing that character but you have to somewhere understand or delve into what makes that character move forward -- what drives it, what pushes it, and what the essence of his thinking is,"
That is very profound indeed. I remember the Mexican actor Diego Luna saying something very similar about playing the character of Felix Gallardo in Narcos.
Amrish Puri was also a regular in Govind Nihalani’s movies. He could perform roles with gravitas and then could turn up the loudness at will for the commercial movies. One of the finest actors in the history of Indian cinema.
It’s a treat to watch your interviews @Samdish. You get to know the personalities of the guests from your unique conversational interview style..truly amazing!
Superb conversation, first time samdeesh ne kuch sensible baten ki, ise kahte ha sangat ka asar, hope aage bhi ye continue rahega, kuch or aise hi guest dekhne sunne ko milenge. Rajit ko lane ke liy thanks 💐
This is like an oasis in a desert of today’s senseless podcasts where people are acting all knowledge.how beautiful was this conversation so natural and honest
I consider an actor in the realms of greatness if I find them good in cinema as well as on the stage. Among whom I have seen, I find Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Neena Gupta and Rajit Kapoor in that league. Enjoyed this interview.
Oh my god rajit ji. Sir I can't express in words how much I respect and love you . Watched byomkesh bakshi , Suraj ka satva ghoda , zubaida just to watch you ❤ .
I really wish that Rajit Sir would play an older Byomkesh with Ajit and how he spends his old age and how he solves cases with the maturity gained over the years. It would be a great opportunity.
Rajit kapur born to be byomkesh bakshy . No one even any bengali actor can't compare him until now days. Just like jeremy Brett's sherlock holmes acting.
I can vouch for Rajit as a monitor. I remember once we walked into Rangashankara as a rambunctious group. Rajit was seated in the row ahead and turned around with a stern face. We quickly went quiet and a few seconds later excited that it was Rajit! 😅
Depth of scope. Beautiful. Teen baar mein dekha alag alag dinn. Some interviews just kick me into getting things done. Love the facts. But Ranjeet should get progeny. Innova wont cut the Mandarin for the Nippons. Thank you for the wonderful interview. I show my 60s mother many of these. Edge media globally.
42:38 - 48:33 I had read it somewhere, the sidekick is an essential part in a detective series as, this character acts as a bridge between the super working mind like a detective and the audience. Where the things we miss as an audience, the sidekick brings them to light by his questioning.
He also played the role of Abid Hasan Safrani, IFS- Netaji's close associate in INA in "Netaji Subash Chandra Bose: The forgotten hero" (dir: Shyam Benegal). As usual, he did really great in that role.
Hey Samdish, thank you to bring these interviews to us. i have one request for you, please add the picture of the personality , discussing through the interview at the same moment. It will help us to engage in the conversation and understanding the conversation much better way.
What a pleasant coincidence. Just the day before yesterday i was binge watching Byomkesh series on RUclips and here Samdish brought up an interview with him.
The chairs on which they are sitting, Pierre Jeanarette designed these chairs for Chandigarh government offices and colleges. Classic French collaboration with India which created a new city.
To answer the question regarding side kick in detective movies or shows, I think they create a character which has the curiosity same as that of the audience and has same level of understanding of the mystery to keep the audience connected to the plot. In a way the side kick asks questions on audiences' behalf.
Detective is super smart, he/she already understood and went 10 steps ahead, but we are stupid so who would answer our queries? That is where the side kick comes in. We're the sidekick in that story!

Bhai acche interview liya karo yaar😢 disappointed
Uncleji oedipus complex ki moorat hai aur Sambhish psychoanalysis kar raha hai. Simply brilliant, I must say. Loved it. Thanks. 😉
He played Benezir Bhutto also, the prime minister of Pakistan, in the Shyam Benegal movie called Mujib.
The interview was great and refreshing to see a person I’ve admired turn out to be so chill. But I’d specifically like to mention the ending credits, they were very creative. Keep the dubutant editor and ofc the lovely tehreem/upcoming producer.
Vote for interview with akhilesh yadav ❤
Rajit Sir would always be our Byomkesh. 🙏🙏
Sushant wasn't bad either
@@abhishek_083 Never said that Sushant was bad. If you are an late 80s or early 90s kid you would surely comprehend what I meant.
Abir Chatterjee is the OG Byomkesh. Only legends know that.
How?? Plz elucidate. Hopefully you are a Bengali like me. Yet how do you associate Aabir as The OG Byomkesh?@@documentin9171
For me Byomkesh Bakshi then the movie Ghulam
Byomkesh Bakshi the Original Indian Detective.... 👌👌❤
Im 26 yo male and i have watched doordarshans byomkesh bakshi with my father so many times. This man is one of my heroes
Somehow Rajit Kapur and Rajat Kapoor are two actors who had similar journey of doing classy sophisticated character on screen and their performances stayed with me
So true! Even when they play middle-class or rural characters they still stand out as bit more sophisticated of the lot.

Known for Raazi? Lol, he is an icon. The original Byomkesh Bakshi
Have such fond memories of watching Byomkesh Bakshi on Doordarshan as a kid. He pulled off the Bengali bhadralok role with such conviction that for the longest time I could not fathom that he is actually a Punjabi guy !
I totally agree about Amrish Puri, i think he was so under rated, he is on par with naseeruddin and om puri as the best actors of our generation
Amrish puri sir is legend
Rajit Kapoor and Dibakar Banerjee look and sound so similar. It's crazy
Wow..good observation!
They adressed it in byomkesh (the movie) interview

His best performance was in Ghulam very emotional character. Great to see him here!
what a great personality!!
I loved the clarity of his thoughts, second half of the interview was much more satisfying.
Thanks Samadish for bringing this person out so naturally.
♥️
His style of speaking and even the voice and look to an extent always reminds me of Dibakar Banerjee

*A Steady Rain*, a play by Keith Huff, starring Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig. 1:03:15
thanks
I also liked his character in ‘Ghulam’ ! A very good portrayal of an elder brother who’s unable to leave his dark life behind him
What an interview! Loved every moment of it!!
Rajit Kapur is such an institution.
I consider an actor in the realms of greatness if I find them good in cinema as well as on the stage. Among whom I have seen, I find Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Neena Gupta and Rajit Kapoor in that league. Enjoyed this interview.

Just loved how Rajit sir 's confidence kind of made Samdish uncomfortable to stay silent. Rajit sir is too good in person.
One the most unique journalist and presenter of our times
Still keep on seeing byomkesh episodes our childhood hero..rajit sir..no one can replace him..he is the best..
Loooong overdue Samdish loooong overdue... The Man, The Myth, The Legend
Bomkesh Bakshi is probably the best character Rajit has played so far. I watched Bomkesh once again during COVID and absolutely loved it.

We're the sidekick in that story!
