The ‘goo’ or residue on the plastic is a part of the aging process of most plastics of the era, with the oils leaching out. An Amazing video & experience. There are quite a few collectors who are envious-me included. Surprised the aluminum didn’t oxidize more & it appears that the original bag had a bit of gray in its pattern. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I just bought one of these off ebay and it works perfectly. Thanks for demonstrating how the belt is supposed to work, I couldn't figure it out for the life of me
I have one of these myself. It was for 25 dollars in a Kirby Vacuum store. Over in Custer, Plano. It is a very nice vacuum. Glad to see more people have one like me!
Had to watch this again after I picked up and refurbished a classic 3 owned by a ex Kirby dealer . Absolutely amazing find . Not as spotless as yours but came up beautiful 👌👌👌
My mom’s brown Kirby Classic Omega (the model before this one) is what got me into Kirbys. My grandmother had this 1976 Classic iii. Unfortunately, they were both lost, but I found both models online and restored them. 🥰
One of the best in the Kirby lineup! My mom and aunt had the Classic III and Granny had Classic & Classic Omega (that was given to her) and my church had a Classic also. I had my mom's for a good while until it got taken in a building lockup! You're almost preaching my story. Great find!!
That is awesome i would love one of those to add to my kirby collection , just picked up a Legend II for my channel. That is one gorgeous Kirby so envious.
When I was a kid, we did not call the Kirby a Kirby. We always called it " The Vacuum Cleaner". I grew up with a Kirby in our house. It was a model 519 and was the only vacuum cleaner I knew.
The Kirby Classic III 2-CB is one of the most popular vintage Kirbys among collectors due to it's "far out" '60s/'70s styling, candy apple red color, and tattersall bag pattern. How awesome for you to have a NIB '77! Now you just need a tattersall shirt, bell bottom jeans, leather sandals or flip flops and a remnant of shag carpeting to complete the groovy look!

I so wish I could find one of these. Because like you this model of Kirby is what took my Kirby passion to the n-th degree. This was my aunt Ann’s Kirby and she hired me a lot to clean her home with it. Enjoy thanks for the video.
Wow! I’ve seen a few of these on eBay still brand new in box. I’ve also seen a Heritage 2 new in box. How weird. Time travelers! If I could find a New In Box G5, id pay a fortune for it. Especially if it came with all, unused optional accessories.
nice find. bought one yesterday. six hours of polishing and scrubbed up like new. kirby's are the best vacuum cleaners. i also bought a time capsule kirby, a Legend 2 just like yours brand new in the box, that's where it's staying for now as i have plenty more to use.
Just viewing these Kirby vids & youtube is dropping new ones in my (screen) pics daily. I just got a $19.99 Kirby 1989 Legend ll with all original parts, cord, roller (silver painted & says Kirby on it) all 4 hubcaps, one still had plastic foil on it I took off. Metal Fan. I don't see the seal that sits outside of the inside seal around the suction hole. We have a Kirby Shop in town, so I should be serviced. With Bags, rollers, etc. I have the Magenta another Kirby fan is his favorite. I am happy & enthused with my Salvation Army Store find.So I know to choose the Belt with the Nurl pattern as best. I am glad the belt was broke, it was in the machine. I suppose that gave some Momma the excuse to stop pushing this TRUCK as my lady friends about a Kirby. "like pushing a Truck!" lol
This is awesome... The Classic iii is what got me started too... Both of my Grandparents had them, my whole family had Kirby's (my Grandpa was a distributor). We had D50, D80, Classic, Classic Omega, Legend II, and 3 Classic iii's - one of which (aunt) had the skinny handle, I've always disliked that handle. Now I have the Omega and one Classic iii from that lot... I feel I need to get the iii out today and run it :)
This just popped into my feed! I love it! I hope you're still using this awesome machine. I grew up with a Kirby (mom's vacuum) and the husband bought my first Kirby in about 1992. I drove it til the wheels fell off as they say. I've never bought a new Kirby again. I either fix it, or move on to another used one. Now, many years later... I know how to repair and find parts. Which is what I am currently undertaking with Mom's machine. It's Kirby Classic 1CR from 1970 (brown) I just had to purchase a pistol grip replacement handle and new cord. KIRBY doesn't shine, but still runs like a charm! enjoyed your video and your enthusiasm. So it's been 4 years, are you still running it?
I'm not going to say I wouldn't love to have this. But it isn't exactly King Tuts tomb. It wasn't THAT long ago. We did know that the larvae ate wool and not the actual moths. Moths destroyed about $3000.00 worth of suits and slacks in my closet over a summer. I would have LOVED to have that gasser to destroy those little rat bastards! This is such a great find. I have this same set but mine is all aluminum and shiny. So cool.
I'm revisiting this because it showed up in my feed. You have a beautiful Classic 3. I once had one made in 1977 as well, but nowhere near as nice as yours. While I agree that Kirbys aren't convenient, they are built to last a lifetime. You can still easily get parts for your machine when it needs them. The Classic 3 is one of my favorite Kirbys as well as the 500 series, Dual Sanitronic 80, Heritage 2, Legend 2, Generation 4,5, Diamond Edition and Sentria 2.

I find this fascinating
I own a 1987 Kirby heritage 2 and I love it was never sure about Kirby but I’m convinced now.
Heritage 2 was the first Kirby I ever saw demonstrated from that day on I was hooked

She a beauty. My second favorite Kirby.
Hello,I was nine years old, when this vacuum cleaner was
Made.

I have this machine. I love mine and they sound great even after 40 years. I want to retro fit my bag to a modern bag that will take a disposable bag.
Sounds pretty good!
Beautiful!!!

It's not glue on the massage tool or any other accessories. It's soft plastics breaking down after 40 some years. The hose may be affected ad well.
Wait what did you say like you do not plan to do when stating the hose was minorly crushed? 11:15 thus it would not be an issue?
@vacuumlover1 what do you think of the newer kirbys? are they worth the extra money?
What’s a Kirby
Imagine it painted red with silver accents. Or a Metalocalypse white paint with red accents. Would look sick
How do I polish that housing on my Kirby. I am a Kirby nerd and want to keep my 3 Kirby looking good.
I have polished up over 40 Kirby’s this part year . My classic 3 I refurbished came up beautiful 👌👌
I want one so much
I would like to get one in good shape like that.
These Kirbys are good
That's so cool
Is 6:10 because it hurts to hear the vacuum noise for listening or just because it is not appeal to people?
It’s because most people don’t feel comfortable allowing their hair to be pulled into a dirty vacuum hose primarily
@@vacuumlover1 oh yeah hehe that is kind of easy to see how that might not make it sound like something most people would want to do XD
I like it all ready
