Man, who would have thought that you could get a game even remotely this deep from the world of the first Final Fantasy game, a game with - aside from the infamous time loop - essentially zero plot beyond "relight the crystals to save the world".
Rewatching now there's an inconsistency, maybe just an unseen event? Because Sarah says Garland wore a helmet, but we never see Jack wear a helmet in the flashbacks. Maybe he wore it in a later reset, but it's now shown in the game.

I’m not kidding when I say the Chimera made the Black Knight look like a normal undead cavalry unit and the Fused Elemental look like ash, dew, frost, and sparks in the wind
Because poorly-written, unnecessary prequel/prologue story that has to conform to the story following it (the Star Wars prequel trilogy, which this game reminds me very much of, is the closest thing I can think of in mainstream culture to compare it to; though now that I think about it, Squeenix DID also make Crisis Core, so shitty, unnecessary prequels aren't exactly new to them).
Basically Jack GARLAND and party are ppl from Cornelia and, they are the first warriors of light which is why u see all them say they weren’t much before meeting and why it’s so easy for them to forget”strangers”, and the luferians are some god level intellectuals that protect the land from chaos which is a running baddie in the final fantasy series even tho they aim to cleanse the world of it once and for all the world needs balance which is why u see Jack and friends become corrupted by the power of chaos and u see that at the end credits u see the first final fantasy party with the WOL we all know and love so basically origin story for the first antagonist and it’s forsure him because garland was said to appear from chaos so furthering confirming my theory

Jack Garland is not FF1-Garland. Its weird and they explain through the third DLC but original Garland is still his own guy. This Garland is a whole other thing.
Personally I'm disappointed that final fantasy has abandoned the atb/turn based combat. Dragon quest/ warrior has proven that you can have a good modern turn based combat in an rpg. There are sooooo many action games. Losing final fantasy to that has been disappointing. Its as if they just cave in to what they think everyone wants. Why can there not just be an update on graphics, spells/ summons etc. Don't get me wrong some of it is pretty cool. I just wish they made an entirely different series of games for it and left final fantasy more like it had been in the glory days of final fantasy. Just my humble opinion.

It is great I have it, the looting system is the only real downside, you will spend a lot of time in the menu getting abbilities and deciding what to do in the next mission so that can be boresome also there is no real focus on exploration, you can face enemies with multiple strategies and builds adding a lot of replay value, cinematics are what you see and level design is not the best one in videogames. Music is great and the parry system as you see is top, I am not someone that praises story but it is there, to the point and yeah it works, Jack is an amazing character who is who he seems to be and every character is like that their interactions are realistic as their personalities are what mark their interactions, game can be difficult on hard but is not cheap. Different difficulties give you a challenge, it may not be for everyone I just loved it, I still play it a lot you can switch midcombo one weapon to another or increase your parry bar by using burst, most of the weapons are cool but there is no bad weapon or weapon that does not worth it. If you like games like Nioh this is your game it also has a lot of references to Final Fantasy previous games not just in scenes but music as well.
It is a good game, Trash is a game that does not run or is full of glitches or incomplete and that is just for a time. Game could have been better but it is pretty solid, hive mind makes people dislike it because some normie on youtube disliked it.
