I recommend using distilled water I've had mold form on mine , but using distilled water increases the shelf life . I found what was left from last season in the fridge and it was mold free, but did not use too old use fresh it's the best.

This is great - is there a way to use instant pot also? And I have frozen elderberries I picked myself, ok to use those? Thank you!

Yes, you can use your elderberries. We have not made it in an instant pot. If you try it let us know how it turns out.

How much do you use when taking this as a cold or flu symptom remedy?

For adults we do 1 dropper full three times per day. For our 7 year old we do 1 dropper full twice per day.

Can you freeze it? Or preserve it longer somehow?

We haven't tried that. We keep ours in the fridge and it lasts a long while. If you try freezing it let us know how it turns out.

Wondering do the ingredients cost as much as to buy the syrup in stores?

Not sure where you live but locally for us making our own is much less expensive.

If you grow your own ingredients organically and buy (unless you have your own hives)the honey local(which is better anyways) doesnt cost all that much.
