Post-editing thoughts: I think Essence Harvest isn't as bad as I think it is. The ability to get constant toughness regeneration from killing elites - which you will be doing a lot is quite good for this build. However, from what I've been observing in my own gameplay, you'll have Telekine Dome up a lot which acts as your bastion for toughness regen. Hence why that extra point would have been better served else where. But its a free point! So take it and play with it as you please!
I just started Darktide yesterday, since it finally came to PS5. My first Character is a Psyker, and while I haven't finished the build yet. I am already loving the Inferno Staff.
this build convinced me to finally level a psyker, currently lvl 23 and having an absolute blast playing this, i love how flexible the build is and there never is a situation i find myself where i dont have an answer
I have LOVED being a midrange menace with the storm wizard (though I basically never use the storm part & just left click a ton). So satisfying to get the surge and crits and stuff. Excited to try this out after work this week. Looking forward to the next guide!!
Been going back and forth between the dueling sword and the deimos for a while now. My deimos wasn't built right to handle crushers. I agree with your statement, not having deflection makes a night and day difference. Thanks!
I loved the previous version of this build, and I love that you made the 2.0 version to be different from the previous one. Also thanks for telling about how this build actually works, helps with understanding the game. Thanks for a great video again!

Glad you enjoyed it! I'm still getting the hang of organizing my thought process in the moment when I'm talking - even more so while trying to demonstrate something and talking at the same time!
I always play with seers presence and psykinetics aura and if youre playing with assail with a purgatus build you lack the range that brain burst gives you. Id never play with purgatus without brain burst.
@@infrared6973 i am a mediocre player so i rely on smite alot as a crutch, but if youre a sweaty tryhard, brain burst is the way to go since it is the only somewhat decent blitz of psyker.
A variation on this that I play as my main psyker now is brain burst + empowered psionics. If you get telekine shield cd down to a minimum (I can get it down to 5-10 seconds? between castings), combined with kinetic resonance, I have constant access to bb that casts 75% faster and generates 50% less peril. When empowered psionics is active, I have super fast, free, +50% dmg bb's. I'm tempted to go down warp siphon route to see if it's more effective since it should do more damage, but... I don't know that it'll hit any breakpoints? The faster casting bb for 50% more dmg will one shot just about anything except crushers and even in a pinch, a telekine shield with sanctuary and cranking out bb's has been super effective for me.
I made my own build after your previous video, but I've been anxiously awaiting your thoughts on a build, I used Assail for a good bit, but i found it very hard to close kills, constantly bringing enemies low but taking aaaages to actually kill them from full hp -> 0, so i went with brain rupture to fill a similar role, that i feel is more consistent (at the cost of taking way longer to kill multiple enemies). also means i get to take wildfire, which I'm pretty sure is just better perilous combustion? unfortunately im nowhere near souldrinker so I'm using soulstealer instead, i might honestly change it up just for that... Note: why did you go with empathic evasion over one with the warp? there's no node cost difference and i feel like the toughness damage reduction is extremely strong in all situations, but I'm nowhere near as experienced at psyker as you are lol EDIT: I've switched to tweaking your build a bit, so that i can use brain rupture (BR) instead of assail. in my build, perilous combustion becomes a must instead of optional (bc it's the best perk to get down to BR). I also get psykenetic's aura, because wildfire's niche is filled already (I think, idk what PC+WF would look like). Then i head back over to prescience, dropping warp splitting because cleave has 0 use for me while using BR & dueling sword (and I'm down 1 perk point with this routing) (DS feels much better to me than the force sword for taking down crushers and mutants, if it crits its a mutant one shot as well, and it's often a crusher 3 shot, but it is sad to not have deflector. complete preference) EDIT 2: forgot to mention I have kinetic resonance (KR) for BR. this build is very consistent at generating warp siphon, so the uptime for KR is actually really quite good, and when it's up, you can decimate any elite very fast from any range, which feels great. EDIT 3: Oh wow, i hadn't gotten to tips and tricks yet, the deimos force sword may well be the play
I've got a melee focused crit/soulblaze build I've been enjoying. Illisi with Blazing Spirit and Shred, Scrier's Gaze, Wildfire, and so on. I open with purgatus to prime the first group of enemies, quell to zero, then swap to melee and pop scrier's gaze and start mowing through everything. If I make a video on it I'll post a link
Great video; dont suppose this (and Storm Witch) has changed at all with the Grim Protocols update? (just joined the game so just looking to cover my bases and not be confused if something is out of place somehow)

i did this build but with brain burst and it procs frequently when hordes of ragers or berserkers rush you. Its soo good i can turn off my brain for a bit lol
I think not taking brain burst/kinetic flayer is a huge mistake. You lose a lot of dps. Going left side also grants power reduction, damage Aura or psykenetics aura if you want to run the meta with the shield), and damage reduction scaling with peril. If you take double toughness curious, you're already offsetting the tougness loss of Empyric Resolve. If you take 3 you surpass it. I think it's worth it especially if you take the damage resistance.
From the talents I removed Warpbattery and quick shards. This gave me Perilous combustion, 5% crit chance and battle meditation. I think this is better (for me at least), because assail comes up too fast for me to use without it being my primary.
Hey Ryken, I just had a cool idea for an updated Storm Witch: Shock Maul has a blessing that does 20% more damage to electrified enemies at LV4. There's a modifier to the bio-lightning that gives +10% more damage to electrified enemies. There's also a modifier node that gives guaranteed electrifying to heavy attacks. Do you think you could cook up a build that focuses on heavy attacks and special attacks on the shock maul so that you basically do 30% more damage in melee at all times?
Great video. Really love your darktide content. You are a very skilled tutorial creator; keep up the good work. There are a few purgatis mechanics that were at one point part of the game; I'm curious if you are aware of them and if you know whether they are still in the game. Its been awhile since I've run a flame build so I'm legitimately asking. 1: Do you know if getting soul flame stacks from multiple sources (such as talents and weapon blessings) can "overstack" to above 16? My understanding was that it used to do this, where if you applied stacks from different sources you could get 20-40 stacks applied and do bonkers amount of damage (over 1000 dmg/tick). Do you know if this is still a thing or if they changed it? 2: Do you know if uncanny strike on a melee weapon still applied the rending bonus to existing applied soulflame stacks? I know that the strategy used to be to light-up carapace armored enemies with a ton of stacks, then switch to your melee weapon and fill-up your uncanny strike to maximum to make all your existing soulflame stacks burn even harder.
Thank you! Yes to both your questions! These mechanics still exist to this day! Global stack count for Soul Blaze and Burn is still 31 - same as it always been. The cross interaction of Uncanny Strike applying Rending to your damage over time always still works in practice (as demonstrated in the video)!

That... that would be a team mate problem rather than the build. 2 headshots from Assail can bring down Scab gunners, 3 for Dreg since they have a little more health. 1 clean headshot kills Snipers and against regular shooters, 1 or 2 shards brings them down as long as you've landed a headshot. Otherwise spamming shards into a bunch of shooters is also viable! Dome Shield gives you the space to deal with shooters if you have to be the one to do it, either affording you time to aim with Assail, or to cut the distance between shooters and cover and then rush at them with primary spam to suppress them! For specials, Flamers have a maximum attack distance of... 17m I think - just outside your Inferno range, but 2m isn't too much of a gap to overcome (see Dome Shield to close distances). A single puff staggers them out of their attack. Trappers often come within Inferno distance of you, so primary attack can stagger them out of their animation too!
