Good for you! I'm 75 and have been cutting my own hair since I was 18. I have yet to find a hairdresser who has given me what I ask for. Welcome to the rebellion!
I started cutting my own hair because as a mature silver haired woman, they always did an old lady cut. No matter how many pictures or explanations I gave. So during the shutdown I grew it out & started doing my own cuts. I appreciate this video!
First of all you have BEAUTIFUL hair! Color and thickness! If you want your bangs to be less heavy you could try parting that first section you did farther forward which will leave more of your hair in the body of the style and less in the bang section. Then if it’s still too heavy you could try what you said and point cut into it a bit more and/or get different thinning shears and do it just to the ends! Happened upon you by accident and love your personality!I have been cutting my own hair, my husband’s, our son and our dogs for years! Thanks for sharing!
Ya done good, girl friend! 👍🏼 Here’s my theory: I cut my own hair until I don’t like it anymore. Then I go to the salon & let the professionals fix it. Works for me!
Ive cut my own hair for the past 8 yrs bc I know how I want it cut and they always take more off or don’t cut it the way I want it cut.. I have full custody of my great niece and nephew and I cut their hair.. I cut his the first time was super scared to mess his up bc I’ve never cut males hair.. now that it’s grown out some I actually love how I cut it and how it falls.. I will be cutting his also and not taking him to the salon either..
You popped into my feed tonight and WOW!! Great job! I'm 68 and have been letting my hair grow just like you - like I had it 30 years ago! My hair isn't as thick as yours but it hasn't gone gray yet. I love the "messy" look too. My grandson loves it on me. My hairdresser just doesn't get what I'm after. This cut is PERFECT! I was cutting it myself when I had it short. Now I know how to get what I'm after! THANK YOU!!!❤
@@laineydejohn I had to try it after I posted. It came out great! The back is still short so the pony was almost laughable but it still worked' thanks again!
Same as you! I ALWAYS used to cut my hair myself.. I'm 72 and joints are kinda stiff, but this looks easy! Mine is long now because of some illnesses I had, but better now, and cutting this junk off. I too, was messing around when she popped up!!
Beautiful hair! I’ve been cutting my own hair for 15 years. I got tired of spending money for a bad haircut figured I can give myself a bad haircut for free. I then put the money I saved into a box and went on a cruise a few years later. Anyone can do it. Just don’t take too much off when starting out. Thank you for sharing and encouraging others ❤
Same here! I'd go in just to get the split ends trimmed and they would butcher my beautiful long hair into a crewcut! Due to budget I started going to beauty schools to get my my perms. First one was a huge burly non-communicative black man who tried to snatch me baldheaded! But when he was done I had the best perm of my life. I was so amazed that when it was time for another perm I went to same place. While one lady was rolling my hair another one came up talking with her and she started rolling the other side of my hair. . .when I left my hair was kinky tight on one side and loosely flowing on the other side. Talk about an awful MESS 😂 I can laugh about it now but since I worked with the public & needed to be on my A-game physically, you can imagine how upset I was. Went from my best-ever perm into my worst. Ever since then I taught myself how to properly care for my hair myself. . . .with the shag cut, which I love, I just bend over, brush all my hair to hang down, then cut it all to one length all the way across, then finish off the very ends with thinning shears, stand up & tousle. Turns out perfect. 😀
I feel you. Most hairdressers don't understand fine, ultra straight hair with terrible cowlicks. I hate all of my haircuts. At least if I do it myself, I save money 😂
Just found your video by chance, I love watching people cut their own hair. Ive been doing it for about 45yrs or so myself, I actually cut my hair today too. I felt the need to tell you that your hair is gorgeous and that you did a great job. My motto is is that its only hair and it'll eventually grow back. Thanks for sharing this.
You look beautiful with your new haircut! 😍 YOU did a great job👍 IT'S a great feeling, when you can cut your own hair 😊 You have beautiful hair ..I love the color on you! It's your natural color, but it's very pretty! 🤩 Actually since you gave yourself a haircut , it really uplifted your features, and you look youthful! You're a pretty lady! ❤️ Again .great job!👍🤗
I've been cutting my own hair for over 40 years. These new techniques are brilliant! I went to Beauty College back in 1989 just to learn how to apply make-up and do my own hair because i was horrible at it! These days, you only have to go as far as your laptop to learn a thing or two about what's what in beauty! I love what you did there. It's absolutely beautiful! ❤
I LOVE it! I will be trying this for sure!! I'm so tired of spending a fortune on getting it done and hating it! Thanks for showing us the process on a non pro! It really Looks amazing! Your hair color and hair I so beautiful to start. It's perfect now!
I’m so happy I stumbled upon your channel! Yes! I’m 64 and I am of the “Big hair, don’t care” era, lol! I LOVE the shag style haircuts! You look fabulous! I absolutely love your personality! You had me cracking up, lol! Hugs from Michigan 😊
I love it! You did great! I hope that Brad Mondo picks up on your video & features you in one of his vids! 3 cheers for us “Sassy Silver Seniors”! Proud to flaunt our natural color with flair!
This is GREAT!! I'm 71. Cut my own hair since I was very young. Hairdressers always messed me up when I tried them thinking they knew better.... NO... THEY DON'T. Love your cuts. Was inspired to try your method of another cut a month or so ago. Loved it. Might try this one too!!! My hair is like yours with the curl/wave thing. Nice and crazy fluffy when cut right. Thanks!!!
I love it! I have cut my hair most of my life. I am 71 years old. I have worn layers and really like it. Think I need a haircut! You are a beautiful lady. ❤
You're sooo right! It is empowering! I've cut my own hair since I was 16. Then at 17 when people found out I cut my own hair...they pleaded with me to cut theirs! I did a few but was a nervous wreck doing it so I adimently refused.😳
Hi, new subscriber here. Your hair is so pretty. I have finally decided to stop coloring my hair. I'm 59 almost 60 in May and single, no children, no grandchildren, no husband and I am a BIG KID at 59 almost 60. Everyone thinks that at certain age you have to do this now and that now and I feel that whatever makes you feel good about yourself DO IT! I love the 80's stuff to this day hair cuts etc....my hair is fairly long and I do not plan on cutting it because I'm Good Lord Willing close to 60. I'm going to go backwards in my age when 60 hits. LOL. Your hair is really pretty and do what makes you feel good. Happy to see that you want to do something for yourself. God Bless You.
I think it’s so adorable how throughout the whole video, she is calling for Brad like a grandson who is visiting but not quite listening to her to answer her when she needs reassurance that what she is doing is right. “Brad Mondo, where are you?!” So hilarious and cute! 🥰 😊
The universe brought you to my feed for a reason. I watch Brad all the time and I adore him, but I really needed to see this. My hair is down to my butt and I want to get it cut, but in my 53 years I’ve only had one hairstylist who cut my hair correctly and he moved to NY 35+ years ago. (Thanks a lot, Kelly!) The last stylist I went to charged $55.00 for a cut and dry and she didn’t even do a consultation. I had to stop her from whacking away because, like you, I part my hair to the side and when I went in I had it in a ponytail. I’m tired of spending $75.00 and up to do what I might, think, HOPE I can do by myself or with the help of 3 friends, my therapist and a couple margaritas.
Thumbs up for your own haircut 👍. Moreover, Your wonderful thick and wavy hair looks good in any condition. Even longer hair would look good on you. Your natural grey hair colour is an eye-catcher. As for me, an older woman with fine soft, quick greasy hair with natural grey-blonde highlights without any curls, it takes me a bit effort and time to add volume. But even after styling my hair using a special hair fixing foam, a brush and after drying additional a curling iron in the lengths, the result cannot be compared to your wonderful hair look. What a gift from mother nature - only using a hair dryer and have such great hair without much effort. So, please enjoy - you can be really happy with how you look 👏🍀. Best regards 🙋🏼♀️
Thank you for stopping by to watch..and the compliment.. my only suggestion for care of silver hair is try and not to use hot tools on it often. I made video on the care of my hair if u want to see what I do. Blow dryer is only used infrequently
My mom had the hair you describe..as a younger woman she always got perms. So when she was expecting her 1st child, she prayed for a daughter with thick curly hair. To her disappointment...my sister came with her hair..straight and thin. By the time I came along ( she had my brother b4 me) I came with exactly what she had prayed for❤❤❤❤
That looks beautiful! Seeing someone who looks like me cut it makes me feel a little braver to try it myself. You have very similar habits to me so I think this could work for me. Thanks for doing this video!
So excited will have to try this on my gray hair! I'm so tired of wearing it up in a bun but also don't want to pay 75 dollars for a cut and blow dry. Thanks for being a guinea pig for the rest of us!
Glad I watched you!!! I was going to cut my hair today, and was going to guess how...my hair is thin & fine, and I always wear it messy, too, so lots of products to do what I want! Thank you again, and I am getting my haircutting scissors. My kids all knew it would be a very serious crime if they even touched them. It wouldn't be pretty. Lol Kids are middle aged adults and they still have that fear! I'm 72, and getting to get at it.. Wish me luck!!!
I am same way , i only had one hair dresser and after she was no longer where i went i have always cut my own hair. I am going to do this hair cut now. Because. I think your Hair cut looks GREAT !
Hi there! I looked through your older videos.... not only do I like your hair a bit longer but I LOVE your silver hair! It's so much more complimentary on you than when you dyed it brown. LOVE THE CUT STYLE AND COLOR!!! GORGEOUS!!!
Oh my GOSH!! I LOVE it!! Can I help you with some things? 😊 Get a water softening SHOWER HEAD! Best thing ever!! Next: DON'T get single sided thinning shears, if you aren't a stylist. You can leave a ridge line where you cut, that you have to go back and fix! Lastly: Walmart sells knit flat sheets that are cotton. Get one, and cut it into towel size pieces. No need to hem, it won't ravel! Your video blessed this Grammy, so I figured I'd bless ya back with advice from MY previous stylist!!
I am 60. I have salt and pepper hair like you. I personally think the color looks beautiful. However, i have worn my hair up in a bun. It hides the pretty color of my hair. Ive worn it in a bun for years, Im tired of it. I saw his tutorial as well, but seeing how good your hair looks, im going to cut mine. You did a great job. Im sure i will have to do little nips and cuts here and there afterwards, but excited to see how it comes out just the same. Fingers crossed it looks as good as yours. Thanks for sharing this video.👍🫶
Excellent ❣️ I've cut my own hair forever between cuts, then the last few years totally cut my own hair, just cut alittle bit every 4-5 weeks. It's never hacked off too much now that I do it myself & if it's a little crooked its ok as my hair is curly. It saves me a ton of $$$, also do my own hair dying & highlights. I love your grey hair with the purple hue, very pretty❤
I have been cutting my own Brad Mondo butterfly cut for the last 2 years. I love it, and i love it on you, too. Sure saves $120 for a mediocre butterfly cut at a salon!
I love the look of a layered cut. I think it makes hair look fuller. My hair is down to my waist. I've always kept it long and will continue to do so. I always cut my own hair. It's, actually, easier to cut it yourself when it's long. I have noticed, however, that my gray hair is getting thinner. I'm inspired by you. I think I'm going to try this cut when I trim my hair again. Thanks for the inspiration. Your hair looks beautiful. ❤
Heck yes! You look great, and I actually watched as I scrolled on silent for a minute. You’re gorgeous! Thanks for the tutorial!! As my hair begins to grey (at 37), I keep wondering how I’m going to style myself once I go full grey and gorgeous. I want to be you when I grow up! Well done
Love how yours turned out! I've been cutting my own hair for 7 yrs now. Brad's is the EASIEST & best results method for layers that I've tried! I have thin hair and this cut makes it look thicker.
Wow! You did an awesome job GrayZy!! Your hair is so easy to style! Every woman would love to have hair so effortless and come out so stylin'. Thanks for sharing. ❤
1st time viewer here, after watching and reading comments, I’m convinced this is the meet up place for the 60’s/70’s feather back soul sister club. Love it🙌 and your hair and your spirit is amazing, truly loved your vid❤️ take care all
When I was a young woman I cut my own hair with a razor. Pixie! But then professionally cut and colored as I was more particular. Bu that cutting performance t took courage to tackle your gorgeous thick looking hair. Looks great, so brave. Impressed.
I think you nailed the cut!! I'll be 40 this year and have gone from super curly hair for 32 years, to a light wave (blame the kiddos, my boys stole my curls). My hair takes a curl Like yours does but straightens just as easily. I live in Buffalo NY, and we were shut in for about a week and a half im Dec due to another lake effect snow storm. My stylist had to cancel as there was driving bans, but I NEEDED a cut... it's been 2 years..... so I did this method and it turned out Sooooooo Good!! My middles school students keep asking me where I went and are stunned when I say my bathroom lol
P.s. I am also a natural red head and have never dyed my hair except low/high lights (my red heads- deep plum low lights make your red POP and give it a sassy and sultry vibe) I've decided I'm embracing my grays and allowing them their uncovered passage!! I love your gray!! Thank you for sharing what you use to keep your color from the yellowing- I was curious if blue shampoo helps!
My daughter has been encouraging me to try this, but I'm 82 and have white hair in front, salt and pepper in back. Seeing how well this works for you, I'm ready to try it. Thank you!
I use to wear my hair that same style... so easy, versatile and fun. Love it!!! Good to see another person not afraid to follow Brad video advice on how to cut your own hair 🙏🥰
❤ I dry my hair like that, too! I did exactly the same thing. Good old Brad. Putting stylists out of business one woman at a time! 😂 your hair looks great! My bangs are always a nightmare!
Well, just those of us brave enough to try! If they would listen, and do what we ask, maybe we would let them style. I love saving all that cash! @@laineydejohn
Just those of us brave enough to do it! I just changed my pic. My hair is so much like yours. I love your just after drying! Mine gets a little frizzy, so I can't leave it like that. If the stylists did what we wanted, we wouldn't leave, right! I love saving all the $$$ @@laineydejohn
Looks great. I'm 68 and when I was in highschool we did the same thing with ponytail holders. Instant savage haircut. Blending is when you take the areas where the front and back sections meet and trim ends to blend with each other.
I was feeling out of sorts and scrolling thru videos on RUclips when yours popped up. Honestly, I was cranky enough to want to see a DIY disaster. But you sure fooled me. Your hair looks great. So I shuffled into the bathroom putting my just shoulder length hair into two ponytails (not wet) and snipped off about an inch. Voila! It looks good. Saved me beaucoup bucks and my hair is not cut too short. My mood is improving.
Heading for 73, I have been using Brad's method since I first found it during lockdown. My first attempt had me chopping 9 inches off my hair! I haven't been to a hairdresser since. I now keep it the length you wear yours. It is wash and wear, clip up, wear down. Easy as can be. 🍀💚☘️
Very stylish, love your attitude,”just go for it “ and you’re so right about wigs…but you won’t need them.Your’e hair looks beautiful! Thanks for sharing! 💜
Like! You have great hair! I got tired of them chopping off all of my hair & started doing it myself. I have always just turned my head upside down & chopped it, dry it upside down as well no muss no fuss!
Looks great and I agree about the hair salons. It has gotten so expensive to get a trim. This looks fairly easy for anyone with shoulder length hair. Thank you for demonstrating.
I’m 69 and have been doing a similar cut for about 10 years. I’d have mostly silver hair but started coloring it purple at the same time I started cutting it myself. It’s fun and freeing. Welcome to the tribe.
You are a spunky, lovely woman!!. How could you see what you were cutting?! You did a terrific cut on your hair!, I really like it, including the heavy long bangs. I am surprised we are still allowed to call them bangs .♥️
U r SO lucky to have that beautiful thick hair. ❤😊 u did very well considering it was your first time. I can’t wait to finish growing my hair for “Licks of Live”, so I can finally hair my hair again. I have fine/ thin hair that’s a mixture of all nature hair colors. I used to be called “Blondie”. When I had my first baby, my hair turned darker. Don’t want to do coloring. Happy what color God has given me. I’m glad I watched your video. 😊❤
Hi, I went to beauty school in 1987 and learned how do haircuts and makeup, I graduated in 1988, and I went home and went to work at the funeral home, excellent job on your haircut, you’ll have no one to blame but yourself.
Good for you! I'm 75 and have been cutting my own hair since I was 18. I have yet to find a hairdresser who has given me what I ask for. Welcome to the rebellion!

That looks beautiful! Seeing someone who looks like me cut it makes me feel a little braver to try it myself. You have very similar habits to me so I think this could work for me. Thanks for doing this video!
Oh my GOD . Your hair looks so healthy and so many layers now. It fits you. Wow 2 Cutts!!!!
I am so in agreement with you regarding leaving your hair "messy". It's not messy, it's beautiful ❤️
Good job!😊
Lovely- I love the messy layered look.
80's hair ...I don't care😅
Yes yes yes 🤗
🤘🏼
😄
So excited will have to try this on my gray hair! I'm so tired of wearing it up in a bun but also don't want to pay 75 dollars for a cut and blow dry. Thanks for being a guinea pig for the rest of us!
The thinning scissors were a stroke of genius, love it! Great job.
Well done 👏 Your hair looks absolutely lovely 💜
Thankyou for sharing
Good job. I may be the oldest. Did a Butterfly cut today and almost 80 yrs old.
YES!
I’m 87.. I cut my own hair and this is the greatest way to cut your hair and it gives it bookoos of volumn!!!
GORGEOUS!!!
Why thank you...I never once got a compliment on my hair as a brunette...now ppl stop.me in stores to about my silver
Yeah somehow she looks younger with the gray
Oh my GOSH!! I LOVE it!! Can I help you with some things? 😊 Get a water softening SHOWER HEAD! Best thing ever!!
Next: DON'T get single sided thinning shears, if you aren't a stylist. You can leave a ridge line where you cut, that you have to go back and fix!
Lastly: Walmart sells knit flat sheets that are cotton. Get one, and cut it into towel size pieces. No need to hem, it won't ravel!
Your video blessed this Grammy, so I figured I'd bless ya back with advice from MY previous stylist!!
Thanks for the Walmart tip!
Come back and let us know
Excellent ❣️ I've cut my own hair forever between cuts, then the last few years totally cut my own hair, just cut alittle bit every 4-5 weeks. It's never hacked off too much now that I do it myself & if it's a little crooked its ok as my hair is curly. It saves me a ton of $$$, also do my own hair dying & highlights. I love your grey hair with the purple hue, very pretty❤
Me too. Curly is not as noticeable if you aren't perfect
I have been cutting my own Brad Mondo butterfly cut for the last 2 years. I love it, and i love it on you, too. Sure saves $120 for a mediocre butterfly cut at a salon!
Fantastic cut. The style suits you perfectly as it is. I've looked at your other videos, and this style takes 10 years off you. 👌
Fabulous cut , fabulous hair
Thank you
Well done
It looks really good. Great job I am 65 and gray I think I will try it.
It looks great! So much more flattering than the long straight drab look. Kudos to Brad Mondo for this method. And kudos to you for risking it. 😊
I have been cutting my hair for 50 years. Great job 😊👍
Impressed with your bravery and I love the new look
WOW-- I think you did an AWESOME job -- it looks great! And you have BEAUTIFUL hair !
I do that cut too, my hair is really thin and this cut still works good. I'm 62. You did good!!! 🎉
My hair is exactly like yours! I have been wondering about this cut and I think imma gonna do it! You have inspired me 😊
So happy that it turned out the way it did..good luck on yours!
It looks amazing, but go for it.❤You're gonna Rock this. 😂
Impressed.
🎉🎉🎉🎉 ❤❤❤
Brad this beautiful lady needs your stamp of approval! 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤
You did amazing 🎉!
P.s. I am also a natural red head and have never dyed my hair except low/high lights (my red heads- deep plum low lights make your red POP and give it a sassy and sultry vibe)
I've decided I'm embracing my grays and allowing them their uncovered passage!!
😂😂😂😂",putting stylists...out of buisness..:
Your hair is beautiful.Love how you cut your own hair with really good results.Ty for sharing
Thank you so much 🤗
Thank you 😊
I was feeling out of sorts and scrolling thru videos on RUclips when yours popped up.
@joanraymond1851 absolutely love this...thanks for sharing
If it looks good...who cares how we got there😉😁
Wow!! Great job!! I have thick wavy gray hair..and have cut it for decades. I did this cut last year and loved it!!!
You're very humorous. I love what you did.😅
Looks great and I agree about the hair salons. It has gotten so expensive to get a trim. This looks fairly easy for anyone with shoulder length hair. Thank you for demonstrating.
That's fabulous! I ❤ your new haircut (licensed stylist here.).
WOW!!!! Grey haired Grammy here & you are wonderful!!!!❤
😊😊😊😊😊
You look so pretty love your personnality and the haircut looks amazing on you.
I appreciate your feedback
Looks fantastic!
It looks forking fabulous!❤
I've cut my own hair for years, since I was a kid. You did great, and you'll get better. Especially with bangs. It's trial and error. Love Brad too❤
You did a great job
Thank you
I think FABULOUS!! You did an Amazing job ! Wow. I may try it myself. Lots of layers. Look really good.
Easiest cut ever
I loved it. That’s the way I did mine but I didn’t know I was doing Brad Mondo lol you did a fantastic job. I love it.❤
Thank you 😊
I’m 69 and have been doing a similar cut for about 10 years. I’d have mostly silver hair but started coloring it purple at the same time I started cutting it myself. It’s fun and freeing. Welcome to the tribe.
SUPER CUTE! SUPER-DUPER CUTE!! I like mine messy too, your hair doesn't look too thick btw. 😊
Soooo cute!!! Love the cut, looks great on you!!
Sweet of u to say so
I Love your hair. Its so healthy and the colour is fabulous. Great video and yes im going to try this as well 😅x
Thanks for the memories with the pink foam roller. I liked your cut. You did good. Love your personality.
You are a spunky, lovely woman!!. How could you see what you were cutting?!
You did a terrific cut on your hair!, I really like it, including the heavy long bangs. I am surprised we are still allowed to call them bangs .♥️
I love the new cut, and your colour is amazing!! I also love your attitude. I really hope Brad M watches your video ✂️
Thank you for stopping by and leaving such a sweet comment. Good luck in your hair journey..it can be fun for sure
I think you did a great job. I enjoyed your video. Good job!
I'm so jealous! You have gorgeous hair! So thick!! Great job! Love the cut, and your video

Hi, I went to beauty school in 1987 and learned how do haircuts and makeup, I graduated in 1988, and I went home and went to work at the funeral home, excellent job on your haircut, you’ll have no one to blame but yourself.
Ik 82 and I still cut my own hair. Proud of you.
