My baby’s (dog’s) name was Mi’Amor. But we called her Mia, though she answered to both. She unfortunately passed away 2 years ago. And her name was just as amazing and beautiful as she was. ♥️
My condolences, I lost my English bulldog in 2016. She lived 14 years, and was literally the best friend I ever had. I still think about her every single day. Losing a dog or pet that one is that close to is not a bit easier than losing a human loved one. Seriously, as I tell anyone I know, dogs are people too. 8 years later I have a 5 week old Pitt, Husky, and Rottweiler mix that I've had for almost 48 hours. He's black with white paws, and we are already developing quite a bond. Again my condolences and my best to you.
We named our dogs after the movie To Kill A Mocking Bird. Both females, Scout and Finch. We are getting a male puppy next month and are considering Atticus for his name. BTW they are all Cairn Terriers.
We had a border collie named Luke - he was an awesome dog, he just loved life (and playing fetch... he probably loved fetch more than anything). My current dog is named Kuiper, named after the 'Kuiper Belt' in space!
We have a 2 first name theme with my 3 dogs! The first is Jaxon Bean (his mom‘s name was Jellybean), second is Dolly May (after my favorite singer Dolly Parton), third is Tiana Frog (after me and my mom‘s favorite Disney movie Princess and the frog!)
My dog's name is Shiloh. And so far, I've never met another dog with that name. We call him Lo or Lolo for short. But Shi (pronounced shy) is also a cute nickname for Shiloh. Side note; Shai means "friend" in Hebrew, so I think Shai is a great name all by itself.

Took in a rescue putbull that I thought was 1-2 yrs old, so too late to give him a new name so I called him ‘Dog’. (Turned out he was only 6-8 mos according to the vet, just a very big boy) Later got a Pre-Wedding gift from my bride to be, pick of the litter of a Timberwolf/husky cross. The one that picked me was my choice. Her name was Love. Big beautiful scary looking sweety, the name calmed people down. My sons had a rescued brother and sister Dalmatian mix. The lil female had dots but the beefy male had spots. “Dem ain’t spots, dem is Dozer & Dots.” (Both completely suited their names. Dozer was so beefy and uncoordinated while Dottie was pure sweetness and affection.) Now the boys are grown, so when the oldest boy wanted a dog (again a rescue), he found this sweet little lab mix. He was contemplating names like Ana (for anarchy). Until I called her Mayhem and she crawled into my lap for snuggles. A year later that sons girlfriend took in a rescue of her own, complete unknown mix (Belgian Shepard lookish), he became Riot. So their home has Mayhem and Riot.
I’ve actually met 2 dogs over the years (different owners) named Boudie. Odd name but... odd dogs! Both were extremely silly playful dogs that didn’t care who you were, they just wanted to be friends. (Both were large mix breed farm mutts, brown/tan coloured.)
I named my brown and white bunny Woody. After my favorite character from Toy Story. We didn’t know she was a girl rabbit until she surprised me with 5 adorable babies.

I have a 5 week old puppy, that I have had almost 48 hours, who is probably almost a third each of Piit, Husky, and Rottweiler, plus a dash of a few others that I couldn't guess on. Lol. He's black but has white paws. And of course it's hard to keep him not chewing the things I don't want him to chew and him wanting to chew the things I give him to chew. Lol.. so I'm split between Oreo and Chewy. Lol As an aside, I'm not super crazy about the idea of crate training, but I'm still considering it. If one is not going the crate route, how can I better potty train him? He's good about waiting till outside for big potty, but is letting loose with a little pee pee indoors if I don't get him outside quite frequently. Is there a good technique I may not know about for pee-training a puppy if one is not going to do crate training? Thanks for any input, (and I might still break down and go with crate training..)
if i got an apricot colored maltipoo i was going to name it “Reaux” after gumbo roux cause i’m cajun!! but she was already reserved so now i’m trying to come up with names for an all white maltipoo
I had three chihuahuas, Neela, Zeus and Fox. (Fox just looked like one ❤). I also had a husky, Bruno. A lab retriever, Rose. A daschund named Goofy, and a little white mix called Shiro. I really liked Shiro’s name, although it was a girl, people would always ask if she was a boy. I can’t make up my mind for my new puppy, a very small chihuahua 😅
I had a friend once whose dog’s name was Gourmet. My nephew had dogs named Hurley and Nacho. Now he has a dog named Odin. My sister had a dog named Freya. I don’t think I have ever had a dog with a unique name. My last dog, a Chihuahua, was named Bella. Every time I took her to the vet, I always had the same experience. The person who called the pets for their exams would come out and announce a name like Snickerdoodle or Sugarplum, and one person would stand up. If the person ever said Bella, about five of us would stand up. Bella was used for dogs from a Chihuahua like mine all the way to a pitbull or a Great Dane. I always thought that was so funny. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

When I was 10 yrs old I bought my own dog with my allowance (found out later the lady basically gave it to me. I had $15, the ad listed the pups for $50, I misread it.) Anyways Harry Houdini was my pal for 17+ yrs. Harry was a black cocker spaniel mix.
@Aitutakikuuipo - my thought too! And Valley is a great name. Val for short. But I find that dogs do best with 2 syllable names. Plus 2 syllable names work best for calling dogs.
My wife found an all black kitten under her car the day before Halloween many years ago. Ended up naming her Spook. Beware- rescue/found cats live forever! Spook was 21 when she passed.
I LOVE food names for dogs! I have a black lab with a white stripe in his belly and we named him Oreo because he kind of looks like one. I also have a fawn colored long haired chihuahua whose name is Pia (we call her Pie or pie-pie) which is kind of like a piece of pie. Also, my family and I didn’t name her! We adopted her from an abusive home and her name was already Pia so we kept it because it was in the food category. I am probably going to get a blonde curly haired golden doodle in the future and I’m gonna name it Noodle as well.
