- Used a drone to do a visual inspection for the radio tower at WZHR and WDCF. This tower is a AM and FM tower and is experiencing issues.

A circular polarized FM antenna ! I had one a wile then found a .94 wave Dominator was the last one in stock before they quit . A pirate in NYC bought the old one . what is the nest ? a Eagle ??
It's my understanding that is a hybrid antenna giving the benefit of circular polarity and the reliability of a dipole. I'm guessing quarter wave.
I think the nest is the least of the problem.. those fiberglass isolation links are very weathered, they become less effective at this point and tuning will be interesting. Is the heliax up to the FM element dressed in with twist ties and hose clamps?.. I see why nobody would climb this for inspection.
Those 1/4 wave Antennas are surprisingly effective. I have used OMB ( Spain)version MP1 both single and stacked here in the uk , made of stainless steel too.
Been a long time since I studied antenna theory. Pretty sure that organic mass at the top of the tower is disallowed.
it's an Osprey nest and cannot be touched. Most of our towers around this height have them.
@@bigrig98rock yep. It is protected.
I wasn't sure what kind of bird that nest belonged to, but if were Balld Eagles I would not climb the tower during nesting season. Bald Eagles be bad!
No light beacon under the nest?
Could the “issues” be the bird nest that was at the top of the tower???
Hmm... a biologic capacitive hat? A little capacitive reactance not designed by the engineers? 😀
Is that tower Rohn 45G??
The AM cables are pretty weathered at the bottom.
Which is having the issue? the FM or the unipole?
AM передатчик не работает, иначе аист неплохо бы поджарился прямо там!
That's the cheesiest antenna mount I've ever seen.
Someone needs to learn how to dress lines on a tower. Improper bends from tower to antenna and no grounds or even busses. Very little support. That seven eights is going to flop in the wind.
