I think i'm getting the karma for versatility. The detachable gimbal sold me. If i had a gimbal before well 9000% i would get the DJI.
What i want to see is GO PRO 5 VS MAVIK CAMERA !
there are some Hero5 vs Hero4 comparisons out there. The H5 image is no better the H4.
Also the Mavis camera needs to be focused whereas the GoPro is fixed focus.
Thank you for providing an ACTUAL comparison of features - most of the videos concerning these two drones are done by whiny shits drooling over themselves about how GoPro supposedly sucks without explaining why.

I will buy the Karma as it`s a complete package with the removable cam and gimbal for a great price. I think a firmware update will be on the way for a follow me feature soon,I hope.
Karma drone is between Phantom 2 and Phantom 3, it means 2.5 generations behind Mavic.
Your right in the technology side though what the Karma offers is what I need.
I don't need 4.7miles of range or many of the other features it offers.
If you look at what the Mavic has it is a better drone around,if you need those features.
I own a Phantom 3 Standard that I like very much,the compact size of the Karma removal gimbal etc is the buying point foe me.
Phil G Karma is not compact. You need to take two backpacks for hike, if you use Karma.

Totally agree with you ! The Karma is a really great allrounder and if they add the follow me function with a firmware update it would be the perfect drone for me !
I really wonder what is technologically different that allows the Mavic (the cheaper and smaller of the two) to boast 7 and a half times the range of the Karma. Could it be a self-imposed limit by GoPro to ensure safer flying by their intended, casual and first time flyer, audience? They certainly seem to put an emphasis on that crowd with the controller's inbuilt "flight sim" tutorial, but the lack of collision avoidance seems like the opposite.
Well this is not true, gopro has updated their tech specs and the range is 3km, still a bit shorter than the mavic but it is definitively far enough
That's not "a bit" shorter, it's still well under half. That said, that's probably more than enough for most people so all good, I really wonder what changed between the announcement and yesterday.
Local Content dji has the best video systems for long range the older light bridge tech still goes further than GoPro they just have better prouducts also the flight sim is so laggy
Hey i am having trouble deciding which to get between dji phantom 4 and dji mavic pro what do you think and well done with all those awesome shots!
if you want amazing crisp footage go for the phantom. if you don't mind losing some quality but gaining a ton of practicality then the Mavic.
Marvin Trundle i know that i am losing quality but i have a tight budget i was worried about spending that much money on a drone that might get broken like the phantom so do you think losing quality is worth spending a few hundred pounds
in that case consider the Karma. you get a huge package and you can take the camera around with you + you can buy separate parts from Gopro incase you break bits without having to have an expensive insurance. they will have updates to add features. there hero4 had hardly anything at the beginning and now it can do loads
Marvin Trundle i know that but it just seems like a worse option for me as a filmmaker. Although it has a detachable gimbal i already have something like that where as dji has tracking features for filmmakers to make that quicker and easier to fly and get this quality shots and it would be even easier if ingot the mavic because of how compact it us and the mavic as actually fairly chapter than the karma and anyway dji has more experience in drones so i feel like the mavic is a better option it has a pretty good camera anyway and i think the softness of the image is much more cinematic fir my style of filming!
well it seems I have managed to help you make your mind up. if you ever get into serious film making you will one day use a much more expensive drone anyway. good luck and enjoy your drone
The image of the Mavic is blurry and off color, Casey and other vloggers have a problem with the focus of the camera.
casey already stated that on his twitter, he didnt know there is focus thingy. next vid of it is going to be great.

no he did a comparison and it still sucks tbh. I want to have a portable drone to make docs with and the mavic just doesn't have the picture quality i need.

Ok No worries, After some more digging in the forums I confirmed that it also supports Android 4.1.2 or later.

got my mavic pre-ordered, karma is dead on arrival. Too big, same price, way less range, less flight time, no collision avoidence, no autonomous follow mode.
mavik, no sound, cant hold my tablet, dont need sensors becuse when they fail you crash, want a video system that can be used for more then just drone shots, follow modes dont work in a crowded area only open space and is not 100% selling my P4 as loads of crap that i just dont use..
People are making tablet holders for the mavic Ive seen.
Tallguysd the. Controller folds out more you can have it follow the controller and the carma is already been recalled plus to big and why would you want sound
Tallguysd if the sensors fail you don't crash it just gives you errors and you lose those features at least it has them and the karma doesn't even hold a tablet so you are just saying bad stuff about both of them

Beside the obvious mavic lesser camea capture quality than the hero 5 action camera! Mavic is a drone - always and forever, amen.Karma is a drone, a camera and gimbal. Use them in a number of combinations and put them together again.You have to ask your self how long you are going to fly your drone around on a shouting event? An hour at the most using up 3 batteries.That's it for the day using dji mavic .On the same event at the other hand using the karma bundle you are able to continue making awesome footage at the location your are at!!Using the best action camera available on the market with your included handheld gimble.Just think about the fact you able to make so much usage of your all in system aswell in the air on land or in the water even up to 33 ft.In real life people using the karma will be very happy when they experience the flexibility using this bundle and happy to give up the lack of a follow mode or a couple of minutes flying time here or there.
aaddutch Drone footage by itself is boring (I've had a Phantom 2 for 2 years). I'd much rather have a compact drone with removable camera and gimbal.

Great question kid. I could have bought four Phantom 4's with the $5,000 I won from a GoPro Award but I didn't want another bulky drone that barely fit in a backpack when a Hero 4 Black & Phantom 2 with FPV was sufficient. But now I'll be buying the Karma to fly with the Hero 5 Black.

the karma i bought was recalled, and then the mavic now wont be shipped until 2017, and then dji today if that was not bad enough opened up pre orders for the new P4 pro and inspire 2, they cant make the mavic fast enough so they advertise more new crap, there marketing person should be fired.
