"The Book of Sand" short story by Jorge Luis Borges (narration and text)

Borges delves deeper into his hallmark themes of mysticism and infinity as the plot here concerns an infinite book. An impossible book. An object that "affronts and taints reality itself." The book of Sand has no beginning nor end. And possession of the mystic tome appears to be more of a curse than a gift. Borges' prose is strong, as always.

I thought of fire, but I feared that the burning of an infinite book might likewise prove infinite and suffocate the planet with smoke! (Only a great author could conjure up such a powerful image)
